Dru and Marianna discuss the last chapter of the Book of Mormon. It is a little tender time to be ending our study – but we can still read the Book of Mormon every day. In this chapter, Moroni has reviewed the record and he is adding his last words. As an activity, review the first chapters of the Book of Mormon with the last chapter. Both discuss the tender mercies of the Lord. Think about the tender mercy moments in the Book of Mormon and the tender mercy moments in our own lives. Personal revelation is essential for understanding truth. Sincere prayer and using our spiritual gifts are crucial in seeking answers. Perfection is only achieved through personal effort but must be achieved through grace. The discussion ends with lessons learned from their study of the Book of Mormon, encouraging listeners to document their spiritual insights and experiences during this year’s study. Hosted on Acast. Dru and Marianna discuss the way Christ lifts us up. Moroni is giving us what we need in these latter days. He returns to three letters of his father, Mormon: first a letter to the peaceable followers of Christ, a letter about no children baptism, and finally, a letter centered on faith, hope, and charity. These three letters teach us that the distinction between good and evil is clear – there are no gray areas. The light of Christ is an influence for good in everyone. We must actively choose to invite light into our lives because charity is a state of being rather than just an action. Finally, they highlight the role of music and personal experiences of testimony in finding hope and joy – no matter our circumstances. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Priesthood keys allow access to divine blessings. The sacrament is a sacred ordinance that requires weekly reflection and learning. Women play a vital role in the priesthood. Understanding priesthood authority is crucial for all members of the Church. Our covenants transform us into the versions of ourselves that God envisions. Even though the path of discipleship is challenging, we can find answers and eternal rewards in our temple service. Moroni's writings provide guidance for navigating life's challenges. Our Prophet today, Pres. Nelson gives us hope for the future - the best is yet to come. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Dru and Marianna discuss Ether 12 - 15. They focus on the profound themes of faith, hope, and charity as presented in these chapters. Faith is the foundation for miracles, personal transformation, and all spiritual experiences. Miracles are a result of faith and divine timing. Hope is a living gift that grows with faith and becomes an anchor to the soul. Charity is essential for inheriting eternal life. Conversations with God can guide us in overcoming our weaknesses. Humility allows our weaknesses to become strengths. The Atonement is the greatest miracle of all to heal us from sin. We must actively seek to understand the Atonement and remember that the best days are ahead for those who have faith. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Dru and Marianna discuss Ether 6-11. They focus on the journey of the Jaredites, their faith, leadership lessons, the role of prophets, and the dangers of secret combinations. They emphasize the importance of remembering God's blessings of the power of repentance and forgiveness. The Nephites discovered the Jaredite records and a prophet translated them. Moroni made an abridgment. Reading Ether brings knowledge and joy despite its somber themes. The journey to the promised land required immense faith and resilience. The Jaredites' righteousness led to posterity and their wickedness led to their destruction. Remembering God's blessings fosters gratitude and faith. Secret combinations are a significant warning in the Book of Mormon. They destroyed both the Nephite civilization and the Jaredites. Repentance is always available, regardless of past actions, for all individuals. Forgiveness is essential in our relationships and for spiritual growth. The messages in Ether empower us to resist evil and return to God. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Dru and Marianna acknowledge that as we cry unto the Lord, He will have compassion on us. Through our belief in Him, we can receive specific revelation for our lives. We may experience His chastening, especially when we make bad choices. But the Lord invites us to repent and come unto Him. The Lord will prepare us to cross our own “great deep.” Through the vision of the Brother of Jared and the First Vision, we know that we are created in the image of God. Book of Mormon prophets prophesied that witnesses would testify of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Marianna and Dru discuss that Moroni knew what it felt like to be alone in a wicked world—especially after his father died in battle and the Nephites were destroyed. “I even remain alone,” he wrote. “I have not friends nor whither to go.” What helped him through this difficult time was his belief in Jesus Christ and his testimony of His gospel. The Book of Mormon is of great worth to us today and was written for our day, not for the Nephites who never had an opportunity to read it. Our responsibility is to read the Book of Mormon, and not condemn it because of imperfections that are in it. Believing and studying this record will allow us to enjoy greater enlightenment in the future. I can keep the commandment even when I feel alone. Hosted on Acast. In this conversation, Dru and Marianna explore the teachings of the Resurrected Jesus Christ as He instructs the Nephites. They discuss the concept of true discipleship, the higher law, and the significance of the new, first beatitude that the Lord adds when teaching the Nephites in 3 Nephi 12:1-3. The conversation emphasizes the importance of purifying desires, focusing on eternal treasures, and understanding the nature of prayer and receiving inspiration from God. They also highlight the role of prophets in guiding individuals towards knowing Christ and the necessity of acting in faith in everything we do and say. Listening to living prophets is crucial for guidance today. Christ invites us to come to know Him personally. As we read His words in the Book of Mormon and seek personal revelation, we will live the doctrine of Christ. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Dru and Marianna discuss some of the most read chapters of the Book of Mormon – the appearance of the Savior to the Nephites after His resurrection. Dru talks about how these chapters were pivotal in her own conversion to the gospel. Even though so many signs had been given, the people were still surprised by the signs of His death. Three hours of extreme devastation can feel like a long time. The symbols of darkness and light were very much a part of this story. The Nephites groaned in sadness for the loss of their loved ones and their cities and homes. But the darkness gave way to light when the Savior, the light of the world, descended to the temple in Bountiful. There, the Savior taught the people who were at the temple. We can hear Him in our temples today. It truly is the House of the Lord. We can find Christ there – His peace, joy, and love. There were 2,500 people at the temple. Each person was invited to feel His hands and feet. Jesus cares about the individual testimonies to know for themselves that He was their Resurrected Lord and Savior. We can each gain a personal witness of Him. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Dru and Marianna talk about how precious these chapters of the Book of Mormon are to us. The Nephites know that the Savior is born. A day a night and a day has happened. All the people fall to the ground and acknowledge this amazing event. Yet, they begin to forget. They have had this spiritual moment but the people either strengthen or weaken their conversion over time. We can learn from the Book of Mormon how we can prepare for the Second Coming of the Savior. We can also be aware of those actions that will weaken our faith. The saints unite together, listen to the living prophets, and see the miracles and signs of the times. As we become His disciples, we do His work preparing the world for Him. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Dru and Marianna discuss the end of the Book of Helaman and the teachings of Samuel the Lamanite. The Nephites and the Lamanites were in free trade with each other. Having a Lamanite come to the city was common and welcomed by the Nephites. Samuel was hated because of his message, not because he is a Lamanite. The Lamanites at this point are more righteous than the Nephites. Samuel, as a prophet was giving people warning. We are blessed with prophets today who are preparing us for the Savior’s coming, too. We should rejoice in the blessings of the restored gospel. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
In this conversation, Dru and Marianna discuss the importance of remembering the Lord and our ancestors. They emphasize the power of collecting stories, reading family histories, and studying family records. They also talk about the significance of remembering the words of the prophets and finding ways to remember Jesus Christ, such as partaking in the sacrament and going to the temple. They discuss the role of prophets in revealing the will of God and denouncing sin. They also explore the concept of seeking and finding miracles, even when they may not happen in the way we expect. The conversation concludes with a focus on obedience to the commandments and the divine formula of righteousness bringing blessings and happiness. Hosted on Acast. Marianna and Dru start the discussion about the Book of Helaman and talk about the similarities between this time for the Nephites and our time today. The first coming of the Savior is coming soon, just as His second coming is coming soon, now. How are we preparing? Do we remember the Savior’s words? The pride cycle is obvious through these chapters. The number one way to fight against pride is to work on the Christlike attribute of humility, which is not a weakness but a strength. Even when the world is going through difficult times, we can find peace by following the Lord and His Prophets. We should have hope for happy days ahead. Our spiritual foundation needs to be based on Jesus Christ. If we need to repent, we have the opportunity to change. Christ’s invitation is to all of us to come unto Him. Hosted on Acast. Dru and Marianna discuss how to handle conflicts by following the example of the stripling warriors, Helaman, Captain Moroni, and Pahoran. The striping warrior’s mothers had a powerful influence on their lives. We as women have a powerful influence on our families and our society in general. We need to share our faith with others. We can also learn how to handle unjust censure and judgment from others through the story of Pahoran. He keeps a heart of charity when the world would say he had a right to be angry. During times of need, we also need to help others. When tragedy strikes, we must keep a heart of charity for all individuals, even those whom we might want to blame for the bad situation. We can always look forward to our eternal hope. The future is bright if we live righteously. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Marianna and Dru talk about the war chapters of the Book of Mormon. Alma and his sons preach the gospel throughout this wartime period. The Nephites needed their faith in the Lord to be strengthened during this trying time. We are living in a similar time today. In the world, we can see troubles, wars, and political intrigue. We can learn from the Nephites and the Nephite prophets. We should feel the same urgency to return to the basics of the gospel, especially in our families. President Nelson, our Prophet today, is also preparing us for the days ahead, just as Alma and Captain Moroni prepared their people. Captain Moroni is a great example of living the gospel of Jesus Christ, even in the midst of battles. We can defend our families and stand fast in truth and righteousness and find peace during times of stress. By following the words of the Lord in the scriptures and the words of our living prophets, we will be prepared for whatever happens ahead. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
In this conversation, Dru Huffaker and Marianna Richardson discuss the story of Alma the Younger and his son, Corianton, in the Book of Mormon. They explore the themes of repentance, forgiveness, and the role of the Savior in our lives. They also discuss the challenges of dealing with sin and temptation, particularly in the context of sexual sin and pornography. The conversation emphasized the importance of love, support, and understanding when helping others who are struggling. Their conversation highlights the power of repentance, the need for self-control, and the role of faith in overcoming challenges. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Dru and Marianna discuss Alma 36-39. The humble believers of the Zoramites are cast out of their homes. These converted people are welcomed in by the people in Jershon. The Zoramites are angry that they were allowed to join the Nephites and they decide to prepare for war. Alma has been preaching to his wayward people and he is grieved because of their iniquity. Alma calls his sons to him and counsels them and gives them blessings. In talking to his eldest son, Helaman, he retells his conversion story. This is a spiritual retelling. Helaman is entrusted with the records and taught how important these records are. The Book of Mormon converts people to the restored gospel. His simple task touched so many people in these latter days. Shiblon was a very righteous son, but he was warned by his father to still be careful in order to stay on the righteous path. This is advice that each of us should listen to. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Dru and Marianna talk about the power of nourishing faith through the analogy of a seed in Alma 32-35. The poor people of the Zoramites had become humble and thus, willing to hear the words of Alma and Amulek. As we plant and nourish the word of Christ in our hearts, it will grow and increase in our heart. Faith is hoping for things that are true. As we hope and act on our hope, the seed can become a tree. But even a tree needs to be nourished or it will die. We can feel the swelling or growth of our faith and these feelings are real. The humble people ask three questions for Alma and Amulek to answer: 1. Should we believe in one God? 2. How should we plant the seed? 3. What manner should we begin to exercise our faith. Alma and Amulek answer those questions in Alma 34-35. There is one God who we should look to for our salvation. Planting the seed and exercising faith is praying to God and looking to Him to help us through this mortal experience. We should pray to Him over all things. The Atonement satisfies the demands of justice and allows us to repent and come unto Him. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
