Welcome to a special mini-episode. For years, I've talked with women about Vitamin A toxicity and pregnancy. Its admirable that mothers are striving to protect their babies and have healthy pregnancies, and I'm always an open book on this topic. Supplemental synthetic vitamin A is not something I would ever recommend, but the naturally-occuring compound of retinol in grass-fed beef liver has a wonderful effect on women and babies.
The concerns that doctors have about Vitamin A (and hence, liver) amount to a game of medical telephone, and this short podcast will explain why.
In addition, I add my simple, evidence-based guidelines for a healthy pregnancy. Its not complex and its not rocket science. These guidelines have been around for a very long time, for good reason. While new voices are always entering the health space, tried and true advice regarding protein intake, walking, and mental health will always be there.
