Description

A new podcast in which Rev Anikó Schütz Bradwell reflects on life and ministry. She’s a parish minister in a rural parish in East Lothian, Scotland. Originally from Germany, she volunteered halfway across Europe before coming to Scotland, where she lived and worked for nearly three years on the Isle of Iona. Then settling in Edinburgh, she trained as a minister in the Church of Scotland. She shares life with her husband, young son, a manse cat and two guinea pigs, and enjoys their garden, photography, music and books - especially when she finds the time for any of these. She recharges and does much of her wondering on early morning walks in the local community woodland. To find out more about her work, visit the websites of the churches where she ministers: www.humbiechurch.org and www.yesterboltonsaltounchurch.org, and their instagram, twitter and youtube channels.

This time, I'm having a chat with my friend Gordon, who is a prion chaplain, about his ministry. He explains what he does, and what motivates him. There are some difficult themes we touch upon. After this episode, I'm taking a break from Wonderings, but I hope we'll meet again later in the year.  #wonderings

Looking around the world, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, overburdened, and yes, helpless. Why doesn't God do more to protect, save, heal us? The age old question is one of the things I'm wondering about this week.

This time, I'm looking back a bit.
Do you find Advent to be a really busy time? Here's a reflection on maybe taking some of the stress out of it. After all, what is Advent all about?

Apologies for the long silence - you know, life. This time, I'm thinking about emotions, and how we feel in reaction to what we experience. I reflect on passages from Psalm 137 and Luke's gospel ch 19 vs 41 and 42, and offer a prayer.
This time, I'm reflecting on the difficulty of many mainstream churches in attracting younger families and children, and talk about our latest venture, our Friday Club. Join me for some wondering and a prayer.
I'm back after the holidays! Thanks for sticking with me. Here, I'm thinking back over some of the stories we have reflected on in our services this summer, which all encourage us to look inwards, and to think about what it is that matters most to each of us. What is the most important for you? Join me in my wonderings.

In this episode, I'm reflecting on the past week, including the hot weather, a wedding and a funeral and a visiting church group. And I think about hospitality, in pondering Bible passages from Genesis ch 18 vs 1-10 and Luke's gospel ch 10 vs 38-42. More about my ministry at humbiechurch.org and yesterboltonsaltounchurch.org, and on our instagram, twitter, facebook and youtube channels.

Hello! I'm back from my holiday in Scandinavia, and I've brought something back with me: this time, I'm having a chat with my friend Benjamin, who is a priest in the Swedish Church, Svenska Kyrkan (and the realisation that we've known each other for nearly twenty years makes me feel quite old). He is telling me a bit about his ministry and what his life on Gotland looks like, and about how he got there, from growing up in Leipzig in the former East Germany. Here are some links to some of the things we are talking about: Svenska Kyrkan Gotland The Gotland Peace Centre Difference 100 Kyrkornas Ö - The Island of 100 churches  The Taizé Community.
No, not really Take That. We are going through a period of change in the parish, and the Church of Scotland as a whole. But is that really such a bad thing? It's scary, sure, but we're not alone. I'm exploring what my week's been like, reflect on Bible passages from Paul's letter to the Galatians ch 5 vs 22-23 and Luke's gospel ch 9 vs 57-62, and have a prayer for us all.

In this first fuller episode I'm thinking about preparing wedding services, and reflect on the plan to deport migrants from the UK, in pondering passages from the lectionary readings for this past Sunday, from Paul's letter to the Galatians ch 3 vs 28 and Luke's gospel ch 8 vs 26-29. I'm asking 'What would Jesus do?', and offer a prayer for us all. I hope you enjoy listening.
Welcome to my new podcast. Here, I'm telling a bit about myself and my hopes for Wonderings.
