Description

Can I chase my dreams while also being present for my partner and kids? Does work-life balance exist? Can I really have it all?

I'm Erica Walter, and I believe in my freakin' soul that yes, you CAN. After years of running businesses for other people, I decided to start my own business... when I was pregnant with our fourth kid. I've learned a few of my entrepreneur lessons the hard way. I'm learning even more about business (and life) from my kids.

Every week, tune in for high-impact business strategies and marketing tips, pee-your-pants funny anecdotes and misadventures, and inspirational interviews with other kick ass parents who are bringing their best self to work without giving their families the shaft.

If you're a working parent who wants to live your best life both on and off the clock, the Work Hard Mom Harder podcast is for you.

The diaper fairy has come to the Walter household and absconded with all of our youngest's daytime diapers. The past few weeks have been dedicated to cleaning up messes and making slow progress towards potty independence. Naturally, the business analogy wheels are still turning and today's episode showcases the surprising parallels between potty training a toddler and building a successful business.  If nothing else, we hope this episode helps you feel seen!
This week, I created a new position in my company and hired a candidate for the role. They're on a 90 day probation, and if they don't perform, I'll have to fire myself.   The position is the Chief Hype Officer at Email Mavens. The candidate is me.   Learn how I'm basically creating an alter ego in order to become a better leader not only for the people on my team but for myself, as well. I'm calendaring time and literally making it a job to integrate my wins, a concept learned from Brendon Burchard.
This week's episode is the audio portion of the Email Mavens YouTube episode celebrating the sixth anniversary of starting my own business. Listen to the end for best and perhaps most surprising lesson.
This episode is a pep talk, a series of journaling prompts, and a rallying cry for love. We won't give it away in the description, we'll let you listen and get into it.
Palm trees = Money Apparently because I got palm trees for my birthday, our five year old thinks we are wealthy. It has me thinking what kind of money thought seeds I'm planting in my kids' heads and what money thoughts I want to believe. Enjoy the hilarity and then, take some time to consider your own money thoughts.
A quick update post on how my boundary-enforcement is going: Discoveries from enforcing my own rules about time spent in my business How I'm spending all this extra time What you can do to turn any of this inspiration into action  It's a quick one so you can take that extra time and do a little reflection yourself as you pursue your own impossible goals!
It has been far too long since you got an Erica Riff's episode, so here's the first of Season 2 and the first of 2024. These are uncut, unedited, no holds barred and no outline created. They're usually inspired by something that has me fired up, so you get a ton of motivation and the occasional f-bomb. This one is all about the importance of the words we use to talk to others AND to ourselves. Words matter. Choose powerful ones!
Learn the sneaky, disempowering thoughts that I'm replacing with a new and more powerful one. Accept the challenge to try this thought for yourself for the rest of the month. It literally can change your reality in an instant.

I'm working very hard at my goal. And that's the problem.  In today's episode we are exploring the importance on focusing on creating and taking actions from a different perspective. It's not a grind. It's an adventure.
When you set out to achieve the impossible, the first thing that happens is your brain goes nuts with objections and obstacles.  There are three general categories of obstacles, and I break them down in this episode and provide some useful prompts to help you decide if you're okay using these obstacles as excuses, or as to-dos.

In this episode, I'm sharing the why behind bringing back the Work Hard Mom Harder podcast. I'm giving you a peek at the process I'm trying this year to help me systemize my goal achievement. And, I'm sharing the IMPOSSIBLE GOAL I'm working towards, along with an invitation for you to join me in a year-long journey towards achieving something I've never done before.

Any business leader you listen to will encourage you to take a look at your yearly goals at the halfway point. And I will tell you to do so as well. But in this episode I'm getting REAL honest about how the year has gone so far, and how I'm choosing to tackle the last half of 2022. If you're looking at your year and feeling like it is all going by way too fast, and feeling overwhelmed with how much you need to do in order to hit your goals… this one's for you.
This year, Hudson would have been 10. July is the month we celebrate her life and give back to an important organization, and today's episode outlines some of the ways you can get involved if you'd like to. But if you're new to the podcast, or new to our story, perhaps today's most important lesson is this: Feel the feels.  You can be happy and sad about the same thing, at the same time. Oh, and a lot can happen in a decade. Take a listen.
We're celebrating my FOUR YEAR Business-versary today and on this episode of the podcast, I'm sharing some of the most important lessons I've learned so far. There are surprising parallels between parenting and being a business owner. But in all the day to day hustle, it's easy to lose sight of the vastness of potential we have in not only our careers but in our personal lives as well. Businesses change the world. And I'm so excited to see how ours changes the world in the next four years and beyond! Reflect with me in today's episode!
Today's episode shares a parenting lesson AND a marketing lesson and it's the same lesson. Curious? Listen to learn how my diva Three-nager reminded me of one of the most important lessons in marketing, and get challenged to apply this lesson in your own business as well.
Today's episode is inspired by my daughter, Maddox, and dedicated to all the humans out there trying to dig for a deeper level of effort and impact.
