On this episode things get quite deep as we discuss personal experiences when it comes to burnout and anxiety. We hope there will be a takeaway for everyone from this episode, whether burnout is something you've suffered with before, you're struggling with now or something that one of your loved ones is going through. Don't forget, our DMs are always open if anyone needs someone to talk to.---If you like what you're hearing, you can find us on instagram @workmatespodOr you can drop us an email on workmatespodcast@gmail.com
This episode we're talking about first jobs and career path changes. How do you know what you want to be? What do you do if you don't land the career of your dreams straight out of school? Can a psychic at Disney land really predict your future career? ---This week we are absolutely THRILLED to be joined by our first special guest (mate of the work mates) Carolina Martes - Ivy League literature grad turned superwoman developer. Her story is a must listen for anyone who wants to switch to a career in tech, feels a little lost in the path they've ended up in, or is a Gilmore Girls super fan like Hannah.---If you like what you're hearing, you can find us on instagram @workmatespodOr you can drop us an email on workmatespodcast@gmail.com---Books we spoke about this episode:Working hard, hardly working - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/57086146-working-hard-hardly-workingCtrl, Alt; Delete: How I Grew Up Online - https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/26085734-ctrl-alt-delete
Your work mates are back, and this week they're talking about getting emotional at work. Have you ever cried in a meeting? Hannah certainly has and she wants to understand if this makes her less likely to get ahead in her career. Trigger warning: This episode contains a comment from Allie that is deeply offensive if you're a big Disney fan. ---A note from Hannah & Allie: This week's episode is a little shorter than our first. The reason for this is that we originally recorded a segment talking about the new laws in New Zealand around miscarriage and compassionate leave. Since recording we've learnt more about the racial lens through which the media has been looking at this story. Whilst we still think this is a bloody fantastic move, it felt distasteful to publish the original recording as we lacked a proper understanding of other non-white nations around the world that have similar laws in place. As a result, we decided to cut it out leaving the episode a little shorter than we'd have liked.---If you like what you're hearing, you can find us on instagram @workmatespodOr you can drop us an email on workmatespodcast@gmail.com
Just two mates, who met at work, chatting about all things professional (and having a bit of a laugh at the same time). On the first episode of the podcast Hannah and Allie discuss whether or not it's a good idea to make friends at work, what it's been like to work from home this year and a move by meat replacement company 'This' to set a generous base salary. Oh, and we talk about toilet naps - did we mention that?---If you like what you hear, you can find us on instagram @workmatespodOr you can drop us an email on workmatespodcast@gmail.com
