Welcome back and thank you all for tuning in to the latest episode of the Working Within Podcast Season 3! In this week’s episode we are joined by Dr. Tara Jae (they/them), Founder & Executive Director at Youth Seen as well as the Co-Founder Black Pride Colorado. We dive into how showing up for yourself is an act of service. You can't show up for others if you don't show up for yourself first, something that might be a little unnatural for social impact entrepreneurs! Dr. Tara holds both a PhD and MFA and as the founder & Executive Director at Youth Seen and Co-Founder Black Pride Colorado, Dr. Tara’s work is rooted in an understanding of how communities of color heal, and how to dismantle the stigmas that mental health care needs do not exist within these communities. Tara is skilled in validating and working with racial trauma as it relates to mental health and in organizational spaces. They intricately apply their knowledge of how racialization, racism, and culture greatly impact our experiences of ourselves, our relationships, and our lives. Tangible, honest connection is at the foundation of tara’s therapeutic relationships, not just theory and jargon. Knowing the important role of community in individual healing, Tara scaffolds holistic support for their clients by helping build peer connections outside of the therapeutic process as well. Welcome back and thank you all for tuning in to the latest episode of the Working Within Podcast Season 3! We’re so glad to have you here with us. 💜   In this week’s episode we are joined by Wanda James who is the first Black woman to own a cannabis growth facility, edible company, and dispensary in the United States. Wanda is currently running for the Colorado University Board of Regents, which is responsible for overseeing a budget of $5.2 billion. Learn more about her platform here: wanda4cu.com   While Wanda is an extremely empowering force, we don't want to under-emphasize what we discuss about the criminal legal system, slave labor, and the impact of the drug war on predominantly Black communities. As Wanda mentions on this episode, "the dispensary is a means to an end" for the historical, disproportionate incarceration of Black bodies due to cannabis. Taking risks and being the first can be exhausting, trying, and anxiety-provoking, but we dive deep into how we have power to choose the narrative for our lives. This episode’s title really resonates with the way that we envision this podcast growing and evolving as we touch on subjects we never have before. From cannabis to political movements, openly discussing these topics is something we’re learning to be unapologetic about.    Please enjoy this meaningful conversation and head to our website or social media channels to stay involved with what’s happening!    Don’t forget to turn on those post notifications so you stay connected to all things Working Within, and explore our homepage to sign up for our email list. 📩   As always, thank you for tuning in. 🎧   💜 Become a monthly podcast supporter https://anchor.fm/workingwithin/support  📹 Watch Season 3 on Youtube here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt_l...   ✅ Follow Working Within on Instagram https://instagram.com/working.within/  📩 To keep up with all things Working Within, please visit our homepage and sign up for our mailing list https://workingwithin.net/  – Connect with Charlyn:   Insta:  @charrrbucks  https://instagram.com/charrrbucks/  📲 For inquiries, please email charlyn@workingwithin.net   – Connect with Wanda James:   LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/wandaljames420/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wanda4cu/  Twitter: https://twitter.com/wandaljames  For more information about Wanda's platform, please visit wanda4cu.com   📋 CREDITS:   – Producer: Kris Lee | @krislee94 https://instagram.com/krislee94/ – Growth Manager: Micah Jacks | @micahjacks https://instagram.com/micahjacks/  – Social Media Manager: Mara Daniels | @maramusicofficial https://www.instagram.com/maramusicofficial/    – Visual Designer & Animator: Hannah Curran | @whoishan https://instagram.com/whoishan/  – Illustrator: Sophie Devincenti | @sophiemakesprints https://instagram.com/sophiemakesprints/  📝 Find more details about the Working Within team linked here https://workingwithin.net/team –  Support the Working Within Podcast: https://anchor.fm/workingwithin/support --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/workingwithin/support

Our super cool guest for this week's episode just finished her first 200 hour yoga teacher training, so it felt super refreshing to have her on the show. Stella shares about her journey to yoga, the lessons she's gleaned from deepening her yoga practice, and the health benefits that come with a dedication to yoga. Stella also hosts her own podcast titled Everyday Endorphins, where she's redefining what it means to be healthy and happy. You can find a way to listen below! This week, I invited my dear buddy Noha to chat. Noha is someone Colorado brought to me, and we've gotten close by choosing to remind each other to always slow down and allow ourselves a little more loving. She's a spring of good vibes even on a bad day, so I'm excited you all get to hear from her today. Noha shares some of the practices she uses to restore her energy in this episode, and offers some more personal reflections about disentangling your self-worth from your utility.  If you want to hear two Geminis run around in a word playground, then I'd recommend pressing play. Be sure to let us know what you think and as always, thank you for tuning in. -- Connect with Charlyn: Become a monthly supporter Insta - @charrrbucks and @working.within Website - https://www.workingwithin.net/ For inquiries, please email charlyn@workingwithin.net -- Connect with Noha: Insta - @noha.khikia CREDITS: -- Podcast production: Kris Lee Email - kris.l94@hotmail.co.uk Website - https://www.fiverr.com/share/jpXmR7 -- Music production: Abayomi Awoyomi Insta - @aba.yomi.a  Email - awoyomi.a@gmail.com -- Graphic design: Sophie Devincenti Insta - @sophiemakesprints  Facebook - Sophie Makes Prints TikTok - @sophiemakesprints Depop - @sophiemakesprints Email - sophiedevincenti@hotmail.com --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/workingwithin/support
This week we spoke founder-to-creator [which are effectively the same thing, right?] about persistence, work ethic, and the reclamation of our life purposes. I knew Alivia needed to be a guest on the show since hearing her speak on a panel about her journey with founding Kuleana Consulting, which drives social change by providing student-driven consulting analyst support to social impact-focused businesses and organizations.  Alivia shares how she maintains mental discipline, why she can speak so confidently now, and what practices help her stay motivated. So much to learn in this episode, and so grateful that Alivia wanted to open up with us. Be sure to let us know what you think and as always, thank you for tuning in. -- Connect with Charlyn: Become a monthly supporter Insta - @charrrbucks and @working.within Website - https://www.workingwithin.net/ For inquiries, please email charlyn@workingwithin.net -- Connect with Alivia: Linked In - @aliviakaplan Insta - @alivia214 Visit Kuleana Consulting's website CREDITS: -- Podcast production: Kris Lee Email - kris.l94@hotmail.co.uk Website - https://www.fiverr.com/share/jpXmR7 -- Music production: Abayomi Awoyomi Insta - @aba.yomi.a  Email - awoyomi.a@gmail.com -- Graphic design: Sophie Devincenti Insta - @sophiemakesprints  Facebook - Sophie Makes Prints TikTok - @sophiemakesprints Depop - @sophiemakesprints Email - sophiedevincenti@hotmail.com --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/workingwithin/support
So glad to introduce you all to Olivia and Angelina this week, the hosts of the allegedly?! podcast and my first returning astrology clients! These two are near and dear to me because they love to talk about astrology just as much as I do, and because they are absolute free-thinkers who push others to think freely too.  On the allegedly?! podcast, they cover topics like spirituality, radical politic, astrology, conspiracies, and the collective. In this week's conversation, I invite them into the Working Within space to dissect the subjects of spirituality and Miss Universe and talk about how we expand our consciousness. Thanks so much for tuning in :) -- Connect with Charlyn: Become a monthly supporter Insta - @charrrbucks and @working.within Website - https://www.workingwithin.net/ Email - charlyn@workingwithin.net -- Connect with allegedly?!: Listen to the allegedly?! podcast Insta - @wesaidallegedly TikTok - @wesaidallegedly Twitter - @wesaidallegedly -- Connect with Olivia and Angelina: Twitter - @olivia_william and @adeleon44 Instagram - @liv.williams and @angelinaadeleon -- Purchase The Secret -- CREDITS: -- Podcast production: Kris Lee Email - kris.l94@hotmail.co.uk Website - https://www.fiverr.com/share/jpXmR7 -- Music production: Abayomi Awoyomi Insta - @aba.yomi.a  Email - awoyomi.a@gmail.com -- Graphic design: Sophie Devincenti Insta - @sophiemakesprints  Facebook - Sophie Makes Prints TikTok - @sophiemakesprints Depop - @sophiemakesprints Email - sophiedevincenti@hotmail.com --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/workingwithin/support
This week I invited scholar, artist, and friend, Efua Osei, to talk about her senior thesis: “Yeah I’m Still That B*tch, but Now I’m Feelin’ Like the Man”: How Black Women Queer Masculinity in Hip Hop. You can consider this conversation as an academic follow up to the "Self-Expression without Binaries" conversation we had with Jelani earlier in the season. Efua does a great job of sharing with us what she's learned about masculinity and sexuality, and what it means to her to embrace her queerness.
