Today's episode brings us back the old west of the Northwest United States! I will be using Bill Gulick's 'Outlaws of the Pacific Northwest' as a base reference to the story being told today. Henry Plummer was a "man of law" in his time that lacked the will to be anything but straight and narrow. He walked a shady course within his town of control. Many might say he was crooked in his work. Will this prove to be the full narrative? Tune in today for the answer! Before you head out today, come check out the new reworked Intellectual Adventure Podcast by following links provided! We appreciate you taking the time to follow our show today! WNP Philosophical Detours #12

Welcome to today's episode of the WNP detours! Today, we explore Empiricism and the history of it's origins! The roots of empiricism is a concept most likely even older than detailed, but as most western philosophical foundings, tends to originate its voice around records founded in ancient Greece. Viewed more as an informal practice of thought, this has been part of ancient studies before the time of Socrates. Presocratic philosophers had arranged such thoughts as an early foundation to western ideas as a whole, empiricism included. "Ionian philosopher Heraclitus (fl. ca. 500 BCE). One fragment reads, 'The things of which there is sight, hearing, experience, [these] I prefer'” and " “poor witnesses for men are the eyes and ears of those who have barbarian souls”" Epicureanism, a school within the structures of ancient philosophy, is an active example of how observations can be similar in concept. Without knowing better, the foundations of the world could seem observable in a "similar to same" state and thus seems empirical by nature of the ideas founded within the school. (ca. 408–339 BCE) Speusippus’s views (Plato's son) suggests the idea of a "cognitive sense perception" which paints a picture of adding sensibility in form to your observations to gain a realistic and refined approach to your sensed observations. Sir Francis Bacon 1561-1626 (The Scientific Method) within the later period of the first scientific revolution, right before the rise of Sir Isaac Newton's revelations in a few years thereafter. John Locke 1632-1704 is also another example of how people form empirical concepts in the modern age, as the scientific processes are sense based and require empirical thought by nature of task. Empiricism is proven to be founded theory by default in principle when observed further through the theories of Sir Isaac Newton's inquiries, even if proven shaken within the everchanging environments in modern day science. Where did the case of "the union killer" lead the justice of the day? Harry Orchard (the fat sweating bomber man with 20 kills, multiple bombings, and a case of coming to Christ) ended up killing Frank Steunenburg with a bomb-rigged package located at his front gate shortly after he was hit with the sabatage. "Big Bill" Haywood (the big bad here who supposedly hired Harry) along with others with the help of his Western Federation of Miners group to sabotage US industry against radicalized workers unions. He proved to be the probably cause of multiple bombings over a stretch of time on the northwestern US back in the early 1900s and very late 1800s Outlaws of the Pacific Northwest - Bill Gulick https://www.legendsofamerica.com/old-west/ https://thewildwest.org/ https://historyforkids.org/the-wild-west/ https://www.legendsofamerica.com/we-timeline/ https://intellectualadventurepodcast.com Reach Us On Email: freakswannaplaytoday@gmail.com The Rebels Of Chivalry Discord Link: https://discord.gg/rubUtxPFkb

Today we explore the topic, "Why is personal mindset important to prioritize?" This one's a bit short but provides some feedback on what makes the personal mindset an important matter to talk on for me! We have a few quotes for either before or after you watch to read through to help create the narrative! Check them out below along with our contact info if needed! “The greatest victory is that which requires no battle.” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War "The state of mind that looks on all activity as tiresome is not true repose, but a spineless inertia." - Seneca "Whatever you do in life, if you want to be creative and intelligent, and develop your brain, you must do everything with the awareness that everything, in some way, connects to everything else." - Leonardo da Vinci "Life is pretty simple: You do some stuff. Today's discussion is around the following: Experiencing Life's Emotions Quotes: “Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” ― Arnold Schwarzenegger “To straddle that fundamental duality is to be balanced: to have one foot firmly planted in order and security, and the other in chaos, possibility, growth and adventure. When life suddenly reveals itself as intense, gripping and meaningful; when time passes and you're so engrossed in what you're doing you don't notice–it is there and then that you are located precisely on the border between order and chaos.” ― Jordan B. Peterson, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos “This is the real secret of life -- to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play.” ― Alan Watts “[There are] a lot of grey areas in travel. But, I think that on balance, the world is filled with people doing the best they can... who love their kids and... would like to... live their lives with a little dignity... just like everybody else.” - Anthony Bourdain "A delight in bustling about is not industry–it is only the restless energy of a hunted mind." - Seneca We hope you enjoy today's episode! https://intellectualadventurepodcast.com Reach Us On Email: freakswannaplaytoday@gmail.com The Rebels Of Chivalry Discord Link: https://discord.gg/rubUtxPFkb

WNP Philosophical Detours #4

Welcome back to this week's interaction within the world of philosophy! Watch me take a strike at diving into some beginners concepts of how I perceived Taoism to correlate with my own perspectives. This subject is TOUGH as a western studies person to take in, so it will be a subject of future return hopefully with a guest! I hope you enjoy today's episode, and remember to be brave in your studies and try something different sometimes! It can be great fun to learn about the world we live in, and I aspire personally to continue trying my best to share bits of the journey I have with you! If you would like a good source of explanation on the subjects, I would highly recommend Alan Watts for the matter! He is a renown educator on the subjects having to do with Taoism and more. It is great being able to listen to the "Alan Watts Being In The Way" podcast hosted by his son as tribute and study of his father's work. I will post the link to that podcast below as well if anyone would like to visit that amazing show! WNP Philosophical Detours #3

Welcome to the World Networking Podcast [WNP] today! I really am happy to see you here and willing to join us for another short philosophical talk! Today, we dive into Epistemology - the study of knowledge! Resource I used to help me understand epistemology: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/philosophy/research/themes/epistemology Resource I used to gather the quotes commonly founded in the book "A Ring of Endless Light": https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/1234050-a-ring-of-endless-light?page=1 With this topic in mind, I spent the time looking at this episode from a new perspective I had 0 knowledge about! I found this amazing person in my search: Madeleine L'engle is this amazing author who happened to have written the book of topic, "A Ring of Endless Light". She wrote this book 17 years into her career and it was released in 1980! She was born in 1918 and lived to be 88 years old (she has since passed in 2007) She had written literatures starting at the young age of 5! She was born in the US around North East (NY area) but ended up going elsewhere for studies in Europe! She was a talented writer who focused her efforts on making content having to do with Epistemology like thoughts in general. She was highly interested in intellectual matters. She was a strong theist and believed in the power behind good writing. I have some quotes today from her book "A Ring of Endless Light" that I felt were powerful and spoke to me as a fellow thinker / writer / poet myself. 1. - “It's hard to let go anything we love. We live in a world which teaches us to clutch. But when we clutch we're left with a fistful of ashes.” 2. - “And there's no getting around the fact that all life lives at the expense of another life.” 3. - “There is in God, some say, a deep but dazzling darkness.” 4. - “You know when you cut yourself really badly, it doesn't hurt for a while. You don't feel anything. Death- our reaction to death- is sort of like that. You don't feel anything at all. And then, later on, you begin to hurt.” I found this to be a huge amount of new knowledge I had never known about before making this episode today! I really hope you guys can continue to share in this wonderful journey with me as we continue to dare adventures from the world of philosophy! https://intellectualadventurepodcast.com Reach Us On Email: freakswannaplaytoday@gmail.com The Rebels Of Chivalry Discord Link: https://discord.gg/rubUtxPFkb

WNP Philosophical Detours #2

Welcome to the World Networking Podcast [WNP] today! I really am happy to see you here and willing to join us for another short philosophical talk! Today, we dive into Axiology! Thank you IvyPanda for the wonderful research paper page resource, as it was very well composed! Media Link to the article used for the episode: https://ivypanda.com/essays/the-concept-of-unconsciousness-by-eduard-von-hartmann/ - "The Philosophy of the Unconscious is the most important encyclopedic work of Eduard von Hartmann, in which the phenomenon of the unconscious is subjected to careful analysis not only from a biological and psychological, but also from a metaphysical point of view." according to the article posted above. - Edward von Hartmann argues the idea of 2 pillars, one "wills" and the other "beliefs". It is stated that the will manifests the unconscious as the beliefs help drive the narratives and daily tasks of the conscious. From a theistic stance, it can make sense through common reason to assess the considerable nature of his points founded here. Where the unconscious lay the base blueprints, the conscious raise the banners of spirit to life. - Sigmund Freud (founding researcher into psychoanalysis) argued for the idea the many of the actions within day to day life have an unconscious character passively implemented without knowledge of said implementations. - In general summary, according to Sigmund Freud's studies, the things considered in social and moral norms to be accepted occupy most of our conscious thought, whereas the unconscious side of things is occupied by the outcaste views of society, fantasies, or less popular stances. - He argues in stance that the formulated, formal response is predated by the informal, less structured or accepted one. Without the trials of the lesser known discussions or subconscious/unconscious interactions, the formal one couldn't truly be founded or known. They both agreed to this point of interest, but Edward von Hartmann would additionally add the soul as further reason for arguing the case of derivates from the unconscious. - In this case, Freud was arguing atheistically, whereas Edward von Hartmann was acting mostly of a theistic stance. A SPECIAL BRIEFING: Bear with me, as I will not give up nor lose sight of doing this for enjoyment and love for it. Both shows are undergoing changes currently, and I am still getting used to recording solo runs, but I promise to keep formatting notes for you guys and to keep striving to drive the show on! I do this for the audience, and I appreciate each and every one of you who haven't given up on our spirit here at the World Networking Podcast. WNP Philosophical Detours #1

Welcome to the 1st "WNP Philosophical Detours" episode! This is a series we plan to continually do weekly between our slower periods between interviews to help captivate with interesting discussions based around the innerworkings of the mind, body, and the environments around our cultures and world. Resources from today's episode: "Deontology is when you let a bunch of people die in order not to kill someone. The more people you let die, the more deontologer you are." - Immanuel Kant "No man is free who is not master of himself" - Epictetus “If anyone tells you that a certain person speaks ill of you, do not make excuses about what is said of you but answer, 'He was ignorant of my other faults, else he would not have mentioned these alone.'” - Epictetus "People are not disturbed by things, but by the views they take of them.” - Epictetus, Enchiridion "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time." – Mark Twain "Live as if you were to die tomorrow.
