We'll be back next week with our regularly scheduled racism!  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Andrew & Tawny kick off the episode with a philosophical discussion of whether or not yogurt should be considered a candy. Then, Andrew fills us in on his family’s problematic Christmas debate. At some point a year or so ago, I sat down and really thoroughly investigated this topic because I was so sick of hearing that BS about Africans selling "their own people" to white slave-traders. Some of the contemporary slavery practices in West Africa were much worse than indentured servitude, which is bad enough. There's also some indication that certain leaders did know about chattel slavery in the Americas and thus what they were actually doing when they sold other peoples (no one sold their own people, AFAIK) into the Atlantic slave trade. That being said, it's still a totally disingenuous "argument" and devoid of logic for the reasons ya'll mentioned. Plus, slave-traders were also going into the bush and literally kidnapping people without anyone's knowledge. The whole enterprise was/is indefensible and the fact that people still try to weasel around that fact is just... disgusting.

listened for 15 minutes or so, heard no questions or content actually unpacking racism. you did however manage to lump all white people into racists and say words that are likely just as offensive to some (not all) people who identify as Christian. as long as people continue to say jesus christ willy nilly, its likely the people you are trying to inform and educate (I assume that is your mission due to the name of the cast) with your podcast will not be convinced that some rather obscure items are racist.

That girl was very young. She will reflect, or should reflect her own experiences, including her aspirational experiences . Up to the reader to interpret. In what sounds like her age group, it's probably YA lit which is full of cliche's and stereotypes. this would have been better as a live conversation.

As a a white chick that has been around black people my whole life I have picked up saying "Don't be..." Like, "Don't be calling me this early" but then I add something Valley like "Don't be calling me this early, dude." Do I need speech lessons and to just start over?

So basically this is just a Podcast being racist towards white people? You do know that not ALL white people are racist and not ALL Mexicans are hard workers etc lol Saying shit like this is what creates more racism!! Seriously? MAn way to take not onlt the BLM movement down a decade but also racism in general. And I am only on your 1,000 episode we solved racisim which is the 1st episode on Castbox. So disappointing! I thought this might be something funny with a message. Y' all have a platform USE IT!!!!

I was initially interested in this podcast mostly because my husband is Panamanian and I am American so being in an interracial marriage these type of podcasts are usually interesting to me. However, if you're going to be saying things like "pretend I'm a middle aged white man drinking water" then call the water spicy I'm immediately uninterested in anything you have to say afterwards. If you are a POC and say something racist you are part of the problem. If a white man were to say pretend I'm a black man and say something stereotypical about a black man that is just as racist as a Latina women saying white men think water is spicy. Racism is wrong no matter where the privilege lays. Want Racism to end? Stop being racist yourself.
