The Truth Is: We Need Pain

This episode focuses on pain, including ways in which we seek to avoid pain and the anticipatory anxiety associated with pain, but also some areas in life where we can see the necessity and value of pain.  We look more closely at emotional pain, noting its unique challenges and some of the problematic ways we cope with it.  Finally, we offer a reframing of emotional pain that acknowledges its relational significance and the empathy, compassion, and intimacy that pain can facilitate as we share our pain with each other.
