Description

How did Charles Manson become an evil, cunning monster? In August 1969, the world is shocked by the savage murders of movie star Sharon Tate and four others at the sprawling Hollywood Hills estate she shares with film director Roman Polanski. When the following night another couple is brutally slaughtered, panic spreads among Los Angeles residents. Four months later, the mastermind behind these vicious crimes is arrested, and the public learns the name that would haunt it to this day: Charles Manson. But few knew then – or now – the full story behind the making of a mass murderer. In this groundbreaking 6-part series, host Tracy Pattin is joined by internationally acclaimed actor Stephen Lang (AvatarDon’t Breathe) to take listeners on a unique journey, investigating Manson’s unlikely path from his troubled childhood in rural West Virginia to the night he sent his out his followers to commit the most infamous crime in Hollywood history.

Why do I feel like I'm listening to the Anchorman narrate the early Charlie parts?? A bit over the top at moments...

Wanna know what’s worse than being stabbed repeatedly by Manson? Sitting through the ads in this podcast

I’m so angry listening to this. Such senseless violence. How terrified they must have been, how heartbroken about losing a child who had not even had a chance to breathe. The families and friends left with only grief and confusion. Dang why are humans like this?

Best podcast EVER!! I absolutely loved the way it was directed! Two distinct voices covering two different aspects of Manson's life. The romantic, yet extremely delusional "thoughts" of Charlie really put his motives into perspective. Once I finished this series, I wanted more of the same style of writing and direction in my next podcast. I was so distressed to read that the mind behind this style, is no longer with us. Mr Larry Brand passed away 2/11/2019. I would have been a loyal listener to his work. RIP, sir. Your talents will be your legacy.

The story is not told in chronological order and that makes it difficult to follow.

I also would like to say that this is great for those of us who were not alive back then and are curious about what really happened. Excellent job!

If I were to be critical, the production and presentation of this is a little bland so far..

Charles Manson and the "family" has always been a morbid fascination for me. I listened to every episode back to back on a recent long drive. "Young Charlie" is so well done! The transitions from his later years with the family and their greusome crimes to his younger days of completely disturbing behaviors are seamless, well timed and so appropriately connected. I am now anxiously awaiting the next episode (s)! It's definitely the best documentary on Manson and the family I've heard/seen/read so far. Thank you for this awesome Podcast!

this is incredibly timely with the death of Charles Manson. I literally downloaded all of these things hours before he died. I have read Helter Skelter a couple of times and there is more information here that I have never even heard. Good job!
