Through his earlier positions with organizations such as the Center for Energy & Environmental Policy Research at MIT, he gained experience from researching companies to building financial models. Ahmed started his career at Cornell's Autonomous Systems Laboratory, building algorithms for autonomous vehicles and human-robot interaction.
