Kilbey Salmon has charm, a quick gob and an instinct for self-preservation. Nero Dusk has a lot of patience, a grumpy demeanour and a way with his fists. Theo Cartwright is an Australian journalist who often wonders why she spends time with either of them.
In their time-travelling London cab, they scrape together a living finding things that never existed and solving crimes that never happened for people desperate enough to seek their help. Mostly, they get themselves in trouble. And when there's trouble for Salmon & Dusk, it's the strangest sort of trouble London has ever seen.

Their client is dead, but Salmon & Dusk are still determined to find out who or what killed him. That's how professional they are. But what does Fitz's death have to do with the Olympic Curse?
Morris Fitzgerald comes to Salmon & Dusk with a murder to solve - his own. In the meantime, Theo is having bad dreams.
Nero is gone, Kilbey is lost and Theo is in some seriously bad company. Things have never looked so dark for Salmon & Dusk.
Kilbey is lost, with little hope of getting home. Can ever things be the same again for Salmon and Dusk?
Never mind that, Theo has an appointment with the true Mayor of London and he isn't happy.
What has happened to his collection of impossible things?
Theo hasn't heard from Kilbey in a week and she's trying not to care.
Nero decides he's had as much of his partner's uselessness as he can take.
Against everyone's better judgement, Kilbey agrees to help an ex-convict recover his stolen loot. He's made some bad choices in the past, but this one will have devastating consequences for Salmon & Dusk.
Kilbey is missing, presumed kidnapped.
Nero goes trawling the Fallen for clues, while Theo has to decide if rushing to the rescue will give her badly-behaved boyfriend the wrong idea.
On a boozy night out, Theo thinks she's made a new friend. Instead, it quickly becomes clear she's helped an old friend of Kilbey's find him.
Violet has a job for Salmon and Dusk, one Kilbey may find hard to resist, even if it spells disaster for his relationship with Theo.
When Kilbey is hospitalised after his latest cash-saving initiative, Nero is left alone to take on the case of a woman stalked by a cashed-up stranger.
Quickly, Nero comes to realise not everything is as it seems. His client seems more interested in finding out more about him than worrying about her own safety. Just who is she and who is she working for? Is Nero's past about to come back to bite him?
Joe's exhibition opens, but is Gray making secret plans of his own? Is Joe strong enough to stop him? And just what did happen to Theo Cartwright?
Gray's astounding plan takes shape but Joe is uneasy about playing his part. Will he be caught out by the same detectives he hired?
