t’s November so Zeff talks Veterans’ Day, Ice Hockey, and Halloween.

First up, this show’s Talking American is an officer, and a lady, who tells us about going to West Point and doing her stint in the US Army. Then it’s off to Maryland to meet a husband and wife who make and sell furniture made from old ice hockey sticks. And on his e-mail, Zeff has some thoughts about where all the uneaten chocolate goes…..

As always, great American music

Alstead’s most recent film, Running On Climate, focuses on Andrew Weaver, a scientist turned politician, as vies to become the Green Party’s first member in the British Columbia Legislative Assembly. With climate change and the environment at the forefront of the discussion, the film examines the way global issues reverberate at a local level.
And in the E-mail Zeff ponders a #MelaniaTrump doppelganger…..

Also, we’re going back to college as our “Talking America” feature takes us to Virginia Tech.

HURRICANE SEASON
The E-mail from America is chasing #hurricanes. Well, not exactly – Zeff isn’t quite brave enough to go up in one those planes that fly into the storm but his guests are more than familiar with the effects of powerful storms. First up, author and Georgetown University professor Bernie Cook, who discusses his book Flood Of Images: Media, Memory, and #Hurricane Katrina, the definitive analysis of how news and documentary recall the infamous storm. Then on a new feature “Talking American” hears how Charleston, South Carolina, native Drew Ewing prepares to wait out an oncoming hurricane.
