Description

My name is Nikita Mangaru and I have been born in a time where school shootings are normal, there is currently a global pandemic, and there is a sexist, white supremacist as my president (but not really), all before I am even an adult. In this podcast I want to talk about current political issues as well as less serious topics like what I think about movies and tv shows, but most importantly how the world affects marginalized people. I'll work to make this equal parts serious and equal parts fun. These will be my pure unfiltered thoughts.

Hey everyone! I was a little worried last week about being at school, but the past week has been a lot better than I thought and I am super optimistic about the future. Classes haven't started, so we'll see how I feel after that lol. Thanks for listening :)!
Hey everyone! I moved in to university yesterday and I am really excited to start this journey. This is the first installment of a new series called covid college firsts where I will go through interesting first experiences I have during my freshman year of university while there is also covid. Thankfully, I still have an aspect of in person, but will the restrictions make it an isolating time? I do not know the answer yet but I will try to stay optimistic as a navigate these new waters: covid and university,
In a society where murder mysteries are super white and interracial couples are Black and white, we have Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani breaking barriers and creating a late-night comedy that's old but new. Listen in to hear the twists and turns and even some controversy surrounding Nanjiani. Then, decide if you want to watch.

Hi everyone! This week I am talking about the slow (but kind of fast) decline of Kanye West's mental stability. Throughout the years he has been involved in numerous scandals, but lately it seems as though he needs some help. One thing I failed to mention is that he made some wack comments regarding Harriet Tubman this past week and was shut down but one of the living relatives of Tubman. Serves him right! While his music is good, at this point, we as consumers should no longer line his pockets. Can we finally cancel him and force him to get help?

Hear about my crazy day today - reflection on western mass and getting towed. Was it really that crazy? Probably not, but definitely stressful.

I am very open to a conversation about all of this so feel free to DM me on twitter or instagram @_nikitamangaru or @nikitmangaru , respectively. Thanks for tuning in!

Hey y'all! In this episode I will be talking about a celebration created in 1865, created by and for Black people, that should be more mainstream and celebrated by everyone. I dive into the history, how it is celebrated, and why we should celebrate Juneteenth. It needs to be adopted as a formal national holiday ad possibly replace July 4th especially in importance.  Don't forget to follow me on Instagram and Twitter! Here are the sources I used: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juneteenth https://www.pbs.org/wnet/african-americans-many-rivers-to-cross/history/what-is-juneteenth/ https://www.juneteenth.com/history.htm https://www.archives.gov/exhibits/featured-documents/emancipation-proclamation#:~:text=President%20Abraham%20Lincoln%20issued%20the,and%20henceforward%20shall%20be%20free.%22 https://www.ourdocuments.gov/doc.php?flash=false&doc=34

DISCLAIMER: I know that there are so many other important things I can be talking about regarding the treatment of Black people, but I am working to be a good ally, so I need to keep doing that work before I speak on it. Happy PRIDE month everybody! Stay safe and celebrate your gender and sexuality. In this episode, I will be talking about my journey realizing my sexuality and coming out to my family.
Hey guys! Sorry I've been MIA, I was on vacation, but I'm back and better than ever. I turned eighteen on May 16th and since then I have done some self-reflection and created a couple of goals for myself.  I know it's hard to be productive during quarantine, but just find one attainable goal that you can reach each day, and you will feel so much better. I hope you are staying safe and I hope you will enjoy this episode. If you have any topics you would like me to talk about or comments on my podcast, message me on Instagram @nikitamangaru or Twitter @_nikitamangaru .
Hey everyone, I hope you are staying safe and doing well! This episode is really short, but I wanted to tell you all about my experience of going to a nail salon on May 9, 2020 and my thoughts about reopening the economy. I am still deciding what my feeling are on the economy reopening, but I hope to get your comments or opinions through instagram: @nikitamangaru or twitter: @_nikitamangaru .
As teacher appreciation week is coming to a close, just a reminder that it does not need to be a specific "day" or "week" where you can appreciate people in your life who are supporting you. WE APPRECIATE YOU TEACHERS! This episodes features some extra voices; Amanda Martinez and Shawn Durrett who are both teachers right now. We go over their transitions to online learning, mental health, being a parent during the pandemic and much more. Their perspective was very eyeopening to me and I hope it will be for you too. Thank you so much for your support and for listening!
Hey guys, in this episode I want to bring awareness to this case in Georgia that recently emerged to a national level regarding Ahmaud Arbery.  Warning: I will be talking about murder and use of guns to kill so please do not listen if you're sensitive to this content.  First I give an overview of the case, then go into my thoughts about it.  Here are the sources I used: https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/05/us/ahmaud-arbery-jogging-georgia-shooting/index.html, https://www.news4jax.com/news/georgia/2020/05/05/glynn-da-recommends-grand-jury-review-as-video-emerges-of-fatal-shooting-of-unarmed-black-man/, https://wgxa.tv/news/local/da-opening-investigation-into-death-of-brunswick-man-shot-while-running, https://www.gabar.org/forthepublic/forteachersstudents/lre/teacherresources/upload/ch16.pdf I hope you enjoy!

Hi!  just want to mention that my cover art was generously made for me by my best friend Victoria Frangie. This is my first podcast episode! I am so excited to start this journey and hopefully you will want to continue with me! This episode is not the most interesting since I am only introducing myself and my intent for this podcast, but I promise the next episode will be on a specific subject. This is just the beginning, so I hope production will get better and I know that I will improve.
