Mar 1:16 Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said to them, Come after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him. In English with translation into Amharic, Benwell, 11/08/13.
Psalm 27:11 Teach me you ways, O Lord, and lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. In English with translation into Amharic at Byker, 04/08/13.
A look at the reconciliation Christ achieved through His suffering on the cross. Then at the ongoing attempts to separate and divide the contemporay body of Christ in each locality. We can overcome division thrugh the Spirit of Christ. You may want to get your Bible and look up the verses - there is plenty of time. In English with translation into Amharic, Benwell, Tyneside, 23rd June 2013.
Families at the time of Christ were very much patriarchal (ruled by the father) as are many rural families around the world today. City families tend to be geared more around helping the children achieve full independence as quickly as possible and this background may colour the way we receive the references to Father/son relationships in the scriptures. Looking at the 'Lord's prayer guidelines' through lens of patriarchal family of the day.
The Lord is my Shepherd. One is our Teacher, the Christ. How does that work? What about human shepherd teachers? a study in English with translation into Amharic, Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne, 2nd June 2013. The children were very well behaved that day!
Ezekiel 37 from verse 1. The word of God through prophecy is able to make dry bones into living members of the body of Christ. A study in English with translation into Amharic at Benwell 26th May 2013. I mention Elijah with refernce to the chapter 37 of Ezekiel when I should have said Ezekiel. Maybe my age. Please excuse the sound of the children in the background but we do meet house to house!
Eph 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world has been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now to the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
You can confidently ask things of your best friend. You can expect Him to let you know what they are doing. This is the relationship the Lord Jesus Christ offers those who will take up their cross and follow after Him.
Following Jesus is an ongoing course, not a package that can be received, put away and drawn upon on the day of judgement. But the Lord Jesus Christ is able to keep everyone that comes to Him and get them from the beginning to the end of the race. Looking to Jesus, the initiator and completer of our faith.
John 13:3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; He rose from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded.
What is the significance of Jesus washing our feet? How does this happen now to the disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, those who are washed in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
Ashes of the Red Heifer -
Ongoing sanctification for the
Royal Priesthood. A study in
English with translation into
Amharic, Byker, Newcastle upon
Tyne, 17th February 2013.
Just as the apostle Paul received his gospel by the revelation of Jesus Christ, and not by the teachings of men, in the same way he received the ordinance of the Lord's Supper by the revelation of the Lord Jesus. We look at the meaning and importance of this follow up to the good news of repentance and remission of sins.
Isa 55:6, 2Ch 15:2,
If you have ever seen someone potholing on television or in a film, you may have seen that it looks very difficult, squeezing through what appears to be a very tight entrance to get from one area of the cave to the next.
If you were not extremely motivated then you probably wouldn’t even dare attempt it.
Another illustration would be that of a victim of an earthquake, trapped in a basement, with the only means of rescue being to crawl through a very small opening that had been dug by rescuers. If the person who is trapped wants to live, they have no choice but to squeeze through the gap.
If we want to find that way that leads to eternal life then we really have to be desperate, like the person trapped by the earthquake.
God says that when we really seek out the Lord, we will find Him and we should call out on His name, while He is near. (The name Jesus means God the Saviour in the original Hebrew), Isa 55:6, 2Ch 15:2,
The Kingdom of God is a real place where the Father dwells.
How do we get to live in that realm? There is a way.
cumpla todas tus peticiones. Ahora sé que el Señor ha salvado a su ungido;
Calling out on the name of Jesus.
It may be obvious, but to worship God, we must call on His name.
To ask for God’s help, we must call out His name.
To give God the praise due to His name, we must use His name.
Gen 13:4 To the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.
Psa 20:1 The Lord heed you in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend you. Send you help from the sanctuary, and aid you from Sion. Remember all your sacrifice, and enrich your whole-burnt-offering. Grant you according to your heart, and fulfill all your desire. We will exult in your salvation, and in the name of our God shall we be magnified: the Lord fulfill all your petitions.
The Consequences of repentance.
An audio version of my little booklet on repentance and it's consequences. John 12:20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: The same came therefore to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, Sir, we want to see Jesus. Philip comes and tells Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus. And Jesus answered them, saying, ‘the hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it remains alone: but if it dies, it brings forth much fruit. He that loves his life shall lose it; and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it to life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.’
Esta es la cuenta del mensaje del evangelio por primera vez da después de la crucifixión, resurrección y ascensión del Señor Jesucristo. Se describe cómo los discípulos estaban obedeciendo el mandato del Señor Jesús resucitado que esperar en Jerusalén hasta que recibieran poder de lo alto, en la forma del bautismo en el Espíritu Santo;
This is the account of the first ever gospel message given after the crucifixion, resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ. It describes how the disciples were obeying the command of the risen Lord Jesus to wait at Jerusalem until they received power from on High in the form of the baptism in the Holy Spirit; Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, He commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard from me. For John truly baptised with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days hence. Acts 1:8 you will receive power, when the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses to me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.
Peter was the disciple to whom Jesus promised in particular; Matthew 16:19 And I will give to you (singular = Peter) the keys of the kingdom of heaven.
For these reasons this particular message of Salvation through the name of Jesus delivered by Peter under the anointing of the Holy Spirit is of unique importance. It was given on the day that the disciples received power to be witnesses of Jesus Christ by the one to whom Jesus gave the keys of the kingdom of heaven!
