When asked by the folks at Turnstyle RVA if I would like to be featured on their radio show for Pride Month and make a custom mix, I jumped at the opportunity! More than ever, it's important to show our pride as much as we can, and if that means mixing up some gay-ass dance music together for your start-of-the-summer jams... “I come back to the places where we found us”.   My latest mix titled “Passing Through” is just a moment in time.   The name taken from the opening track “Cold Heart”.    I was inspired by the thought of everything just being a stop along the way.   I have a tendency to always focus on what’s in the rear view mirror.  I’m very nostalgic.   Some of us are always looking ahead.  So for right now, I’m pausing to reflect and enjoy where I am now, in the present.   The Future Starts Now.     The artwork is me in 2022 vs. 2006. I love Halloween. Always have! For as long as I can remember I’ve either DJ’d a Halloween party or gone out dancing for Halloween or the Saturday closed to. That won’t happen this year of course; but it gave me the opportunity to put together a Halloween mix! My Summer 2020 installment “Motherland” includes summer bops like “Watermelon Sugar”, “One Margarita” , “Sour Candy”. “Heart To Break” , “Be Kind”, and “Secrets.” I decided to highlight the return to disco that house music is experiencing now ! “100 Degrees”, “I Remember” and “Let’s Dance (Pump It Up)” will sound familiar…. Some songs have gotten the 2020 treatment such as “The Boss” and “Free”. As a sign of the times and in support of the BLM movement… I open the project with “Black Parade” by Beyonce and close the mix with “For What It’s Worth” by Billy Porter.

2020 has been a ton of disappointment, rage, sadness and worry. My THERAPY has always been music. I don’t have all the answers, but I do have music. We were BORN TO LOVE. As the world starts to heal and summer ushers herself in… I hope you all can find some comfort in this mix I’ve put together as a sign of the times. I FEEL LOVE, I AM READY. Starting with some summer bops, then mixing into some current house music that gives me hope! IF I HAD A CHOICE, I’D ALWAYS CHOOSE LOVE.
