Not acknowledging the patriarchy is the most harmful thing one can do to feminism, and that's exactly what choice feminists do. In this episode, I talk about one of the most prevalent aspects of feminism nowadays, that being "every choice a woman does is autonomous and empowering, therefore feminist!". This type of feminism disregards how the patriarchy affects women, therefore, not bringing to fruition any positive changes. It's also a very individualistic approach, not acknowledging how your own actions might reinforce the patriarchy and be harmful for all women. Just because you find it empowering doesn't mean it's empowering for womankind. Our movement looks for approaches that liberate ALL women, not a few.

OK WE'VE SEEN IT. from vsco girls, to tik tok dances, to boy bands, to chick flicks, to buying ukuleles and singing riptide = BEING A WOMAN (teenage girl to be specific) IS A JOKE (to men apparently). for CENTURIES, women's existence has been mocked. we are walking jokes. our likes and mannerisms are embarrassing and worth to make fun of. i ask a simple question today...WHY DO MEN LOVE MAKING FUN OF WOMEN??? WHY ARE THEY SO OBSESSED WITH US? why do girls in my school LITERALLY avoid my most misogynistic classmates? why are we intimidated by them? why do we always feel self-conscious of what we say around men? this is actual societal bullying and psychological violence against women (& gnc men), and today, I'm decoding it. FUN FACT: WOMEN’S EMOTIONS WEREN’T AND AREN’T TAKEN SERIOUSLY EITHER. WOMEN, SPECIFICALLY, WERE DIAGNOSED W HYSTERIA FOR ANNOYING MEN (women expressing discontent against men or being unpleasant = she got an illness) ALL THE WAY BACK IN ANCIENT EGYPT TO THE 19TH CENTURY BECAUSE OF OUR SUPPOSED RETAINED BLOOD IN THE UTERUS, MAKING US MORE “MOODY”. SOUND FAMILIAR?!? JUST LIKE WHEN MEN SAY FEMALE POLITICIANS AREN’T GOOD ENOUGH BECAUSE OF THEIR PHYSICAL REALITY AND HOW PERIODS AND HAVING MENSTRUAL CYCLES MAKE US EMOTIONAL AND CRAZY. we’ve literally carried these sexist ideas for CENTURIES NOW. WE ARE TIRED.

We don't let women age in peace. Once they lose their youth, the only thing that gave them some type of beauty (in a male gaze standard) is gone, meaning that they lost their worth in society since a woman's only worth is in how beautiful she is. Now it's time to steal her hard-earned, working-mom, boss money for her to spend in expensive anti-aging creams and hair dye every month, while men are called hot when they have wrinkles and grey hair! 

I'll talk about little boys and how they learn misogyny from such a young age, how my mind has changed about internalized misogyny (kind of), Candace Owens and negativity in feminism.

I'm scared of men who watch violent porn. In this episode, I talk about the fashion and the make-up industry, and why saying "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism" won't solve anything. Let's hold ourselves accountable and gang up against Apple, Zara, Bershka, Shein, Fashion Nova, H&M, Sephora, literally every other kind of "cheap" (not really, some of them exploit their workers and still have items of $200) brand. We hold the power as consumers. If we refuse to buy their products until they pay their workers and put them under good working conditions, they will!

i love my gringos, however... In a cultural way, we've made  the U.S. the center of the world, and it gets frustrating for people outside of the U.S. at times. ok but lissen... also when i refer to men i don’t mean all men, i mean teenage boys. and when i say reject, i mean reject when they’re being misogynistic, not when they’re not doing anything. and i don’t want to say that all women should do this, in the end it’s your choice to not. i guess i meant to say that the only way we will get out of misogyny is if most of us get together and actively reject and denounce misogynistic actions. it’s scary but we have to support each other in the process. our opinions and feelings matter. we deserve respect and we deserve to take up space in the world.

Hope u enjoy and talk to ur friends abt it. Much love. PD: I have changed my mind about the issue of “choice” in this matter. Choice is one of the most prevalent issues when talking about this. Young girls are being societally groomed to show their bodies, self-objectify and sexualize, and think that all of that is the only way to be empowered as a female. Self objectification has been proven to cause depression, anxiety, eating disorders and a low attention span, the only ones being benefited by these being men, ONCE AGAIN. When men sexualize themselves it’s without pressure from society, they can freely choose to be sexual and please the “female gaze” or not. However, young girls are FORCED to think of their bodies and sexualities as their main assets, at least nowadays, where the only female models they see are hyper-sexualized and meet the male gaze. We teach them that their only way to be empowered as a woman is to show herself in a sexual manner, coincidentally, only when her body looks like the same exact replica of the male gaze. We’re forcing them to twerk and do tik tok dances, taking their clothes off and only show their figures, not their faces or expressions (OBJECTIFICATION AT ITS FINEST) behind a red light, and call this retaking back their sexuality, when the only thing they’re showing is how they’re being groomed to do this. I’m not saying that women should stop being sexual, I’m saying that we should STOP BEING GROOMED into being sexual, our “sexual” always replicating what men want from us. When we stop being groomed, then there’ll actually be autonomous choice from young girls regarding sexuality. We should be permitted to freely grow and decide what we find empowering, without it being imposed on us. We cannot speak about freedom of full autonomous choice from women without talking about how the patriarchy affects our choices. Why are men empowered by being CEOs and leaders and women by replicating the male gaze, and showing their body in a sexual manner? There is no autonomous choice when we force girls into doing this. They’re not reclaiming their sexuality, they’re replicating hypersexualized models of femininity created BY MEN and think that it’s the epitome of female empowerment. The only way to stop this is to show girls female role models that aren’t seen as pieces of meat by the media, and showing them smart, assertive, kind, creative, honest, ambitious, logical, empathetic, etc role models. As of now, we cannot call this a choice, when society forces girls to do this. It’s not a choice, it’s the patriarchy.

In this episode, I tell a recent story that happened to me when talking to a man about my opinions on why porn should be critiqued in order to make it a fair media for everyone. However, no matter that my experience, other women's experiences and facts support my statement, he wouldn't agree with me or validate my feelings. I'm overall just telling the experience and asking myself why is it that men are only empathetic and supportive when it comes to porn, but don't show the same energy with sexism, racism, homophobia, or transphobia. It's quite strange that their emotional and understanding nature comes out ONLY when discussing porn (that interestingly is quite bad towards women), but they don't bat and eye, laugh, and say rape jokes. I just ask for men to listen and support women when they speak about their experiences with sexism and opinions on how to change it. There is no shame in admitting you might've supported to a problem. We're all a product of society. We can all change and progress. Your past actions don't define you. Your interest in changing for the better does. But we need to choose fairness and equality, rather than defending something because we feel attacked & identified by the valid and scientifically proven critique someone else is making.
