Axie Infinity got hacked for $600M and a Russian money laundering crypto exchange called Hydra got taken down, so it's been a mixed couple of weeks for on-chain bad guys. Stephen Sargeant, Chief Web3 Officer at airdropd, updates Kevin and Adam on the bleeding edge tech in use for a worldwide game of cops and robbers playing out across the cryptoverse. This episode best enjoyed with two forms of ID. Kevin and Adam are privileged to be joined by Ari Redbord, Head of Legal and Government Affairs at TRM Labs, who took a break from what we suspect is his usual March routine of painting his face Duke Blue Devil blue and binge-watching the NCAA tournament to chat with us about President Biden's recent Executive Order on crypto and the role that crypto is playing (or not playing) in Russia's effort to evade international sanctions for their invasion of Ukraine. The coffee cake thing... you'll have to listen to find out. So we're a little late to the party here since most everyone posted their 2022 predictions in January (ya know... at the BEGINNING of the year...) but we very prudently waited to see how Q1 would unfold before giving our predictions. Pretty clever, if you ask me. Kevin and I break down our expectations for crypto, tech stocks, inflation, DeFi, NFTs, the economy, and, most importantly, our feelings. Because we are all fundamentally emotional beings and there's a lot of weird crazy stuff happening.  Also, a note – we recorded this episode before Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine so we don't discuss that conflict in the episode, but Kevin and I both want to share our outrage at Putin's illegal war and our support for Ukraine's right to defend itself against an attack by an aggressive, criminal, autocratic, kleptocratic, fascist regime. Hopefully, next week we'll be back with more to say about the conflict and the outsized role that crypto is playing in it. Ah, Web 2 and Web 3 — the Ross and Rachel of the internet business. Should they be together? Or apart? Or were they just on a break?? Kevin and Adam check in on the cryotoverse’s favorite rom-sit-com to reflect on their predictions from Episode 12, and… well… it’s complicated… [Annoying TV theme song plays] Claim 50 FUTR on Roll – https://app.tryroll.com/claim/FUTR-7EteG4M5NhDx Discord – https://discord.gg/NEbzX4z6 Twitter – @futurefolio, @kevinlum, @kadambloom  Email: futurefoliopodcast@gmail.com  DISCLAIMER – Opinions are solely our own until we change our minds. Ok, so, you know how you have to keep crypto in an account, and when you sell the crypto, you have to pay taxes? So… what if there were a special account where you could keep your crypto and buy and sell it as many times as you wanted and not pay taxes until you retired? Well… guess what… Twitter: @futurefolio, @kevinlum, @kadambloom  Email: futurefoliopodcast@gmail.com  DISCLAIMER – Opinions are solely our own until we change our minds. Roll co-founder Bradley Miles joins Kevin and Adam to explain why the future of money is personal. Web 2.0 gave the world an ecosystem of influencers and content makers who could attract followings… but couldn’t monetize them without endorsements, gigs, or Patreon accounts. But in Bradley’s world, when an influencer says they make their own money, it means they make their own money. Crypto charity

Crypto charity

2021-11-1556:47

Amidst the lambos, cryptopunks, bored apes and conspicuous (occasionally very) consumption that goes on in the crypto space, you don’t often hear about how charitable crypto folks are. But they are. A lot, actually. Actually more than non-crypto investors. So there. Adam and Kevin discuss some of the charitable trends in the space and some of the tools that rich people use to maximize your charitable donations and minimize your taxes. ‘Tis the season to learn something from the 1%. DOGE. SHIB. FLOKI. Dog coins. Woof. Kevin and Adam have spent all year dogging these doggone dog coins. But there’s no dodging that it’s dog season, putting Adam and Kevin’s hot-dogging dog coin doggerel in the doghouse. Enter Drew Pendleton, Adam’s Coinbase colleague and avid dog coin doubter. Adam, Kevin and Drew talk it out – do we see dog days for dog coins ahead? Or should we consider… gulp… buying some of them? Get at us… dog. Our 20th episode extravaganza! This week, Adam chats with NFT OG Zach Burks about how to make NFT history. Zach's been in the NFT game since before CryptoPunks were a stupid thing that no one would even claim for free. He shares his unique crypto origin story and NFT roadmap, including Mintable's plan to make an NFT platform for his mom. When was the last time you built a technology platform for your mom, huh?? Meanwhile... Kevin and Adam discuss Adam's theory that Snap's recent "Apple / do not track"-induced earnings apocalypse might push tech companies into Web 3.0 and the metaverse. Someone please tell Evan to DM me if he wants a Bushido... Taxes

Taxes

The weather is cooling, the leaves are turning, the year is winding down, and that means two things – pumpkin spice and taxes. Pumpkin spice is somehow the more annoying of the two, so Kevin and Adam discuss taxes, including some tax considerations to think about before selling your investments. Boy, those rich folks. With their money and their no taxes. How do they do it? Illuminati? Skull and Bones? A secret Reddit subgroup? The answer is simple, actually – they use margin. It’s cheap, it’s easy, and as long as you’re careful, it’s safe. Kevin has been using margin for years and Adam is just learning, so they chat about a basic strategy to use this incredibly powerful tool to grow your wealth the way the rich do it. We’re through the looking glass here, people. Twitter: @futurefolio, @kevinlum, @kadambloom Email: futurefoliopodcast@gmail.com DISCLAIMER – Opinions are solely our own until we change our minds. True story – in the 90s, if you made a bank deposit, the bank paid you! It was called “interest,” but, like Napster, the flip phone and Gangnam Style, bank interest died out a long time ago. Or… did it?! Kevin and Adam chat with Tyler Jennings about how his bank, Genesis Block, is leveraging the DeFi marketplace to provide full-service banking with interest! Could a Gangnam Style comeback be next? Let’s hope not. Web 2.0 vs. Web 3.0

Web 2.0 vs. Web 3.0

2021-08-2601:30:29

A clash of the titans! Just like Godzilla vs. Kong, except not pointless. On one side, the FAANG companies and their Web 2.0 ilk. On the other, Ethereum and the Web 3.0 heartbreakers. How will these two co-exist? Will Web 2.0 simply buy Web 3.0? Or adopt its best tech and leave the scraps? Or will Web 3.0 overwhelm Web 2.0 in a surge of innovation? Are Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 a pair of headstrong gunslingers who will unite to save us from an alien invasion? Or are they more like high school rivals who learn to peacefully co-exist by eating at separate cafeteria tables? Kevin and Adam discuss.
