What if the thing keeping you from being happy is the belief that something has to change first? This week on goodsugar, Ralph Sutton and Marcus Antebi get into Tantra, and no, it’s not just about sex. Marcus breaks down the idea of being fully present in your life without needing to escape it, renounce everything, or wait for the perfect circumstances to finally feel okay. That leads Ralph and Marcus into a bigger conversation about happiness, fear, gratitude, resilience, relationships, mortality, and the stories we tell ourselves about the future. Ralph opens up about one of his deepest fears involving his mother, Marcus puts him through an unexpectedly emotional meditation, and they explore how love and the fear of losing someone can exist at the same time. They also get into the realities of running a health food business in New York, the evolution of the juice business, why junk food seems to win everywhere, and why meditation doesn’t mean much if you roll up the mat and immediately go back to being an asshole.Maybe the goal isn’t to build the perfect life. Maybe it’s learning how to actually be present for the one you already have.Marcus: "There is no one universal method for finding happiness. But there are universal things humans could stop doing that would help them feel better and improve their mental state.Working to improve our mental state through the different seasons of our lives seems like a logical objective. The good news is that most of us are already doing it. We’re already in a self-help groove. That’s how we’re alive right now, listening to and reading things like this. You are enlightened and you are in paradise. That is the truth. Your mind has the capacity to create that, and it doesn’t have to be diluted by anything. Stay in the present moment. The direct vehicle to that is the breath. Everything after that is philosophy you can put down."Subscribe to goodsugar for more conversations about health, happiness, relationships, personal growth, and becoming slightly better humans without pretending to have it all figured out.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Ralph Sutton and Marcus Antebi are back behind the mics after last week's classic episode highlighting the first episode. Getting older is inevitable. Getting better at being a human is the part we actually have some control over. This week, Ralph Sutton and Marcus Antebi talk about aging parents, mortality, relationships, meditation, gratitude, and what happens when you realize you’re entering a completely different chapter of your life. Ralph opens up about his mom coming to New York at almost 80, Marcus talks about his mother’s frightening fall and recovery, and somehow a conversation about getting older turns into one about how we actually want to live. We’re not gurus. We don’t have it all figured out. We’re two lifelong friends trying to learn from our mistakes, take better care of ourselves and the people we love, and hopefully become slightly better humans along the way.If you’re trying to do the same thing, you’re part of this.Subscribe to goodsugar, send this episode to a friend who’d get something out of it, and come along for the journey. We’ve got a lot more figuring out to do.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
This week we’re taking a trip down memory lane, back to where the show began.Ralph was in a late midlife crisis, 150 pounds overweight and stressed to hell. Marcus, his lifelong friend, almost like a brother, came to visit him at the podcast studio. The two have known each other since before they were born. Their parents were very close. They sat there talking about Ralph’s struggles and his unhappiness, and Marcus said in jest, we should have a podcast called Fixing Ralph. Ralph shot back in his usual humorous way, no, it should be called The Sherpa and the Schmuck. Marcus asked, who’s the Sherpa and who’s the schmuck? Then they looked at each other and said, you know what, fuck it, let’s do a podcast.A lot has changed for both of them since that day. Ralph lost 150 pounds. He went from never meditating a day in his life to being a daily meditator, and he runs 20 to 30 miles every week. His whole mentality shifted, slowly, over time. He admits the show became his weekly therapy, and it held him accountable to the health and wellness side of his life. Together the two of them have explored health and wellness across nearly 400 episodes. This is episode one. Whether you’ve been listening from the beginning or only recently discovered the show, there’s still plenty of road ahead, and we’re excited to see where this journey takes us next.Enjoy this look back at Episode One of The Sherpa and the Schmuck, brought to you by goodsugar™.Ralph and Marcus will be back, refreshed and ready to go, with your regularly scheduled programming next week.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Ralph Sutton takes a solo episode all about how he went from being overweight and unable to do a single pull-up to becoming a dedicated runner logging more than 1,000 miles a year.Ralph breaks down how he started during COVID with Couch to 5K, why starting ridiculously small actually works, and the importance of finding an exercise routine you can stick with. He shares what he's learned about accountability, electrolytes, running shoes, hydration, energy gels, chafing, running in extreme weather, dealing with injuries, and staying consistent when motivation disappears.AJ joins the conversation as Ralph explains why you don't need to be fast to be a runner, why he rotates different pairs of shoes, how he handles long runs, and why listening to your body can be more important than blindly pushing through pain.Plus, Ralph explains why running ten miles through a snowstorm can make you feel like a warrior, how exercise creates positive momentum in the rest of your life, and why the only person you're really competing against is yourself.Follow Ralph Sutton: @IamRalphSuttonWatch more from the goodsugar Podcast and subscribe for new episodes!TEXT us your questions at 718-306-3906!The goodsugar store is the epitome of cool, nestled at 3rd avenue + 69th street! 🛍️Explore our trendsetting merchandise and catch those good vibes at https://www.ilovegoodsugar.com/.Follow the trendsetting hosts on social media:📸 Marcus Antebi: / marcusantebiSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
