Creating this podcast has been a labor of love for me. Over the last couple of years, I'm a little embarrassed that the first episode is finally coming out after all this time. But I am so excited. That it's being published on 02/ 0 2 /2 2, which is the 20 year anniversary of my wonderful little sister and her husband. And she is one of my sisters. I love them both dearly. This podcast has the premise that you have been given an amazing design from a cut that heals automatically; to a new mama whose body makes perfect milk for her baby without knowing the recipe; to our fabulous immune system that makes antibodies against the bad guys. Is it possible that studying our design could bring us a higher level of health? Is it possible that once understood this can help you live your healthiest life? Our goal is to help you live a life worthy of the calling you have received. And that requires energy. We know we need to eat right and exercise, but to be honest, the messages we grow up with program us for a different outcome. Today, we're going to take a bird's eye view of what the health by design podcast is going to be about. I actually have an overview for you that you can download in the show notes in this podcast, there are a few foundational pillars that we will go into in depth, and they're shown on this handout. In the first 10 episodes or so of the health by design podcast, we are going to explain these foundational pillars. So I want you to picture a Roman Portico with three huge pillars, part of the foundation to real health, overarching those three pillars, overarching everything is spiritual health, beneficial bacteria and sunlight. The base of everything is exercise that brings nutrients in, toxins out ,gives you bone strength; space between your discs. We're going to go into that in detail as well. But each of the individual pillars has an important group of topics. Host health is one; environment is another, and then health hacks or the health toolbox that give you the tools to repair things that we especially need today. Each episode is going to give you something valuable that you can take out and actually go and use today. You'll understand what it's for. This reminds me of an IG post I saw this morning saying she graduated without learning so many skills she needs as a mom. This podcast is designed to help moms, help their families be healthier and not become a statistic. Does it sound outrageous to think that we could become a statistic? Think about this. The reality is that 635,000 people will die this year of cancer. Research shows that nine out of 10 of these causes for that are preventable. The things that cause cancer, yes, we can avoid - if we know about them and to be fully honest, think about that number 635,000 people, nine of the 10 things are in our control says research, but honestly, new research shows that even the 10th cause is within our control. So we are hearing about a virus that has killed a lot of people this year which is tragic yet, think about how many people, 635,000 is. And yet we're not hearing answers. We're not hearing how to avoid this. So we are here at health by design to fill that gap. Another 525,000 people will die this year of cardiovascular disease that research also says is preventable. So what do we do over one and a half million people will die this year and every year, because they live in a way that we accept as normal. So we're going to talk a lot about this on the podcast, how to recognize the messaging that is not good for your health, but that is so common we can often repeat it without even thinking about. We want you to have the vibrant health that gives energy. So the first pillar we will call the host health So be sure to listen to episode two, as I explain in more detail, what this pillar entails, it is a nourishing diet timed, right with intermittent fasting in a way to repair mitochondria and lengthen telomeres. These are things that have been shown to improve health and actually lengthen our lives. So be sure to listen. The second pillar is going to be about environments. So we're going to touch on things like emotions, the chemicals in our environment and liver cleansing sounds fascinating. Right? Actually, it is a fascinating topic. Liver cleansing has real world consequences. Let me give you an example. When I had blood sugar issues, I had them for 30 years. Liver cleansing was what was part of what helped me totally reverse that. So how do you have blood sugar issues for 30 years and not get rid of them? And not get diabetes. Praise the Lord. I'm so excited. I, I got to reverse it and didn't become another statistic. So when I had blood sugar issues, how did I handle it? I'd eat something with a little bit of protein, every two hours without fail. I'd make sure my diet was low in sugar. Yet. I still didn't feel good if I didn't eat for the most part, all I could do was control it. And if I didn't eat for more than a few hours, I felt light-headed, I didn't feel good. It just wasn't right. And liver cleansing is one of the things that helped me get rid of those blood sugar issues. So we're going to go into detail on that, on another episode as well. But as we go over this bird's-eye view, I wanted you to see a little piece of each of the pillars and why they were important. So pillar three is the health toolbox and I like to call the tools that are in the health tool Health hacks or #health hacks because I feel like in our society, there are things that everybody seems to need. To give you an example, magnesium. I feel like we should and actually we will go -into a full episode to give you the different ways that it's useful, but the fact is our soils are deficient, so even if you ate your vegetables that are supposed to contain magnesium, chances are your deficient. It's one of those things that almost everyone seems to need. And there are signs that you need magnesium from constipation to headaches, to tension, to high blood pressure, to cramps. There are a lot of reasons we need magnesium and that we might not be getting enough. So those are the type of things that I want to talk about in this podcast, as well as the things from that infographic that will be covered by me, or occasionally we'll have a guest.. Each episode, we'll look into how we are designed, meaning you could look into your old college biology text and find the information about how we're designed. And we're going to talk about the implications of how this biology can be affected with nutrition. Also, considering what makes sense with how we are designed. And this is what can give you true wisdom when it comes to your hea lth... Here's a great example at the beginning of COVID in January, 2020. There was a sign on the wall at our nutritional center, a letter that notified us that a disease was coming from China. It said that this disease was serious and that we were not to tell anyone that something nutritional could help against it. Of course, what did we do? We immediately began to research and we found studies from the first SARS Co-V one that showed what natural things and drugs were used successfully back in the 2005 and 2010 studies, looking back on 2003. Now I'm not a big fan of drugs to put it mildly. So I went and did a bunch of research and I've found natural things that seem to work in the same way. And it worked for me as I didn't get ill for about 20 months or so, and then of course I got natural immunity. But during that early time, some people were saying that Sambucus was causing cytokine storms and that we should stay away and stop recommending it - just to be safe, but that didn't make any sense to me because I understood our design. Inflammation is often necessary with an injury or an illness in the process of healing. Research shows elderberry or Sambucus to be an immune modulator and also as zinc-ionophore, to bring zinc into the cell. So we'll talk about that more in another podcast, but the research had shown that zinc-ionophores bring zinc into the cells to stop the replication of a virus. But the studies used chloroquin as the zinc-ionophore. Remember chloroquine, the drug and hydroxy chloroquine is supposed to be the less toxic form of chloroquine. I have a client that was using it for years for Lupus. So anyway, the studies used a drug and because I don't like drugs. And to be honest with you, I haven't had a drug in 30 years and I don't plan to ever take another. So I wanted to find a natural zinc Guyana for, and as I researched it, I found, oh my goodness! Sambucus is a zinc-ionophore because it's high in polyphenols!. Another zinc-ionophore that you may have heard a lot about recently is Kiersten Q U E R C E T I N. It's one of the bioflavonoids and it also helps zinc come into the cells so that the zinc can stop the viral replication. So one of the things that was most important to know though, was that Sambucus was an immune modulator. It didn't cause the immune system to go crazy. It actually knew when the immune system needed to calm itself down or when it needed to kick itself up so that the person could heal. When a cytokine storm occurs. It's actually when the body doesn't know when to shut that inflammatory process down. Your body needs inflammation to be able to do its work sometimes, but it also needs to know when to shut it down, or it can be so inflammatory that it can kill a person. That's a cytokine storm. So I was thinking the only thing that would make sense was that people who got a cytokine storm
Host health, environment, and health hacks are the three pillars and today's episode explains a tiny yet very big part of the first. The latest estimate of let's look at research, thinkers, traditions, and the evidence around us, which seems to show that all of our life, and our whole environment, are so dependent upon bacteria that our design requires that we take care of these bacteria in the human body. Some speculate that we may be more bacteria than human because we have more bacteria than cells. We have bacteria everywhere in our body, in our mouth saliva. On our teeth in our small intestines, but the colon alone has two times the bacteria of any other organ. I remember the leaders in healing with natural methods from the seventies and eighties saying that all disease starts in the colon.And I know this has been confirmed by things happening today, where we realize that the beneficial bacteria in our gut. Well, I think it's Dr. Perlmutter who says that we used to think it was our second brain. Now we're starting to think it's our first brain. But Perlmutter also quotes that he can trace Parkinson's disease to too many antibiotics over the course of a life. He quotes a study from Finland in the journal of the international Parkinson and movement disorders society.They looked at 54,000 people and found 40,000 people without Parkinson's disease. And compared them to the 13,900 with Parkinson's and found it very likely that antibiotics are a contributor. Total tetracycline exposure, 10 to 15 years before getting Parkinson's. Was shown to be a factor. Sulfonamides and trimethoprim and antifungal medications, one to five years earlier, were also shown to make one more likely to have Parkinson's than those who didn't have it.The scientist showed a 95% confidence interval that killing the bacteria with antibiotics could really lead to disease. Could killing off our bacteria, be tantamount to killing ourselves? Have you heard of MRSA? It's a deadly flesh-eating bacteria that is said to be around because we've used antibiotics too much over the years in our animal feed, pesticides and drugs. Beneficial bacteria is not a new idea and several great scientists have come to the same conclusion. Many years ago, during the days of Louis Pasteur, there was a man named Antoine Bechamp whose lifelong research confirmed that we are surrounded by a sea of germs or bacteria. That could keep us healthy.He considered that these bacteria were part of the host. They were part of what made up the host. So much so that he coined the expression that I use for the first pillar, host health or health of the host. Bechamp found that if the bacteria was healthy, the host was healthy. If a virus caused sickness and was the only factor then everyone would catch a virus that's going around. Yet we're seeing that that's not the case. As we saw with the recent virus that went around, some got very sick. Some it hardly bothered. Right now, as it seems many are getting a little sick. The virus seems to be going through the normal process of getting easier to catch and that the same time, less dangerous before it goes away.I believe that is the way we were designed. And it is part of the process of how herd immunity develops. Your immune system matures, to how to handle a specific virus through the experience of handling it, it creates antibodies. What is interesting is there is some research that shows when a person is in a room with one who has gained natural immunity,they confer or give a bit of those antibodies to the person they are with. Is that wild? Maybe we do need to be with other people.Watching this virus has shown us a few things. One is that not everyone who gets it gets very sick. The ones who have compromised immune systems are the most at risk. We know that the virus cannot be the only factor is sometimes people get sick,sometimes they don't and there are differing degrees of illness. If you have a healthy host. It means that you have a strong immune system. So what makes the difference? Does science know? If it seems like science doesn't know, history proves otherwise in the days of Louis Pasteur, remember him? The guy credited with the discovery of germs and the theory of disease that goes along with it and is now accepted as unquestioned gospel? There was another scientist who somehow didn't make it into our history books. Antoine Bechamp's last work was called The Blood and Its Third Element. This book was recently reprinted and I bought a copy and I want to read to you how it opens." This book is the last work by professor Antoine Bechamp a man who should by rights be regarded today as one of the founders of modern medicine and biology. History, however is written by the winners and too often has little to do with the truth. The career of Antoine Bechamp and the manner in which both he and his work had been written out of history are evidence of this" and quote.So,Bechamp was the first one we know of to come up with the idea that we need to take care of our bacteria. To live healthy. And his ideas were so far from the day's narrative that he was canceled or fact checked. Was Bechamp the only one to think we were made up of bacteria? Rife was the next one to come up with this idea as he had a stronger microscope.Continuing from the introductory quote I just gave. " The United States during the 1920s and 1930s, Royal Rife's microscope revealed processes of life, which confused, many of Rife's contemporaries. But would have made perfect sense to Bechamp. The medical establishment, however, was disturbed by Rife's discoveries, especially so when he began curing diseases,Including cancer with electromagnetic frequencies. Rife and his discoveries were soon consigned to that special anonymity that is reserved for those who threaten the status quo unquote.How dare he threaten the status quo!My purpose here is to get you healthier. So I will not focus on all the evidence of malfeasance over the years.Just know that it can be enlightening to see the bigger picture. So I'll include a little bit that you can research for yourself. Find a private search engine and search October 2020 truth initiative on DuckDuckGo or, any other private search engine.The media and social media platforms agreed to the truth initiative. They agreed to stop any information that questioned vaccines or election integrity. I bring this up for a couple of reasons. One is because there are those who argue that what Rife did was impossible. It was impossible for Rife to look at bacteria that was still alive through his microscope without killing it. ' After all, we can't do that today' today's electron microscopes would kill the bacteria they try to look at, or they kill it first. So they look at it when it's not living anymore.Interesting. I hadn't even really thought about it, but we do have microscopy microscopes. They're not typically used in the medical community, but they do look at live blood. So, I guess what Rife did, wasn't impossible. It just wasn't popular. The second reason is even more disturbing than someone doing the impossible. Yet it does make sense inside of, in the light of history that if your immune system can provide the protection you need then drugs and expensive treatments are really not necessary. There might be people in industries that wouldn't want you to know that.That might want to protect the current narrative by squashing information that may threaten the status quo. To be honest, that held me back from starting this podcast for at least two years. Back to the topic at hand. Rife's story and inventions are fascinating. I'll leave a link on the show notes to him as well. So beneficial bacteria is not a new idea. In that intro to his book. Major continues by introducing us to other researchers that you may not have heard of who came up with the same ideas as Bechamp. Just with different names. He says, and I quote."Contemporary researchers whose work connects with that of Bechamp include Naessons whose somatids are without doubt what Bechamp described as microzymas. Naessons has gone further than Bechamp though aided by his revolutionary microscope technology. And as I identified the various stages of a somatid life cycle. Just recently Dr. Phillipa Uwins and the Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis at the university of Queensland in Australia has been making headlines with her work documenting the existence of nanobes which she describes as involving morphological and micro structural characterization of novel nano organisms.As I read this again. Morphological. That means that the bacteria can morph. This was another idea that Becha mp had, that has bee dismissed for a long time, but it's interesting that now it's coming back to life.One can't help, but think that Bechamp, Rife, Naessons and Dr. Uwins are all talking about the same thing.There is no single cause of disease. The ancients thought about this, Bechamp proved it and was written out of history for his trouble. Unquote.There is a big movement these days however, that is revealing that probiotics, beneficial bacteria, micro flora, microbiome, and nano organisms may be talking about the same thing. All these researchers with the same idea under different names. Is it possible? Let's consider one more example. In a compost heap, there is bacteria.Just like a healthy intestinal tract, the percentage of good guys to bad guys is similar. I use the term good guys and bad guys, loosel - even so-called pathogenic bacteria serves a purpose. In a compost heap. How the Liver Detoxifies Our series on metabolism continues with a brief explanation of just one of the livers jobs with many stories about why this is important to you. And I personally put simply phase one, make something water-soluble phase two. Less bioavailable. This series will help you understand the nutrients that you need to help make this process work better. Why Detoxify? Food, herbs, and supplements that help your liver do its job better. Why bother? I'll tell you why. Because a clean liver can help prevent degenerative disease, slow aging and age spots, and even help to normalize weight. It converts fats, carbohydrates, and proteins into the lipids and amino acids that the body. For building tissue for removing waste and it creates the bile that the gallbladder holds to break down fats and remake or conjugate, beneficial bacteria with all the toxins in our life. Nowadays, this is an important organ to keep healthy want to slow aging, age spots and degenerative disease? Who doesn't right? When I was in college, taking a class on detoxification was literally the last class I wanted to take. Yet stick with me. It's wild to think that there is really science behind detoxification to prevent disease. This is the reason this topic deserves our full attention. Detoxification is far more fascinating than I realized, starting this episode with three stories to show detox, in action. Then we'll explore how the liver does its work and how a couple of nutrients can help this process. episode 15, we'll continue this. So I think we all know that drugs are bad for the liver. And yet a drug is just one of the reasons you might want to consider liver detoxification. It is important to support your body to help it handle foreign substances- even if you don't take drugs. the liver has a lot of jobs in the body besides detoxification. This is why getting the liver working right after or even while changing your diet can make an exponentially bigger difference than just improving your diet alone. The liver processes, fats, proteins, carbohydrates. And it distributes them to nourish and repair the body. It has a big job. Much of the info in this episode is from personal experience and an article that has great. Information. I want to give you the chance to read the original document. If you're interested. It's from the alternative medicine review in 1998. The abstract begins with " the human body is exposed to a wide array of Xeno Biotics in one's lifetime. From food components to environmental toxins, to pharmaceuticals. And has developed complex enzymatic mechanisms to detoxify these substances". Now, obviously I believe our brilliant detoxification mechanisms couldn't have happened by chance. And I take the geniusness of this system as part of our amazing design. Quote "These mechanisms, exhibit significant individual variability and are effected by environment, lifestyle and genetic influences. The scientific literature suggests an association between impaired detoxification and certain diseases, including cancer, Parkinson's disease, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome." unquote. Does that make sense to you? as far as detoxifying, Xeno Biotics, preventing disease. Have you heard of this before? All of us have heard that nutrition is important. Yet, when I speak of detoxifying with some people I'm thought of as tree hugging weirdo. It's wild to think that there is really science behind detoxification. Here's story one about 30 years ago, when I worked at a nutritional center, the owner came running in the door one day, all excited and said ," this is why we do what we do!" he introduced his staff to an older gentleman and his wife. She had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. They had been together so long. He could not imagine life without her. In desperation, they had given her Essiac, an herbal combination said to clear the liver. And in some cases, rid cancer. They had used it on her and it worked! The joy the man had, he shared with the owner of our store, who then shared his joy with us. Can you imagine being able to truly help someone like that? I'm sure that experience is part of what kept me digging into what works. And collecting stories. Drugs, byproducts or metabolites may be more toxic than the original drug after going through the first step of liver detox. They call it phase one or functionalization. That was a term coined in 1947 for the first step of liver detox. The first step makes a lipophyllic or fat-soluble substance into a water-soluble one so that it can be excreted through the urinary tract. The problem. In enhancing just this phase alone is that some of the byproducts or metabolites are more toxic than the original chemical the liver Is trying to detoxify. A great example of this is warfarin. The drug used as a blood thinner. We know, not to eat grapefruit if on a blood thinner, but it's not because the grapefruit is toxic. It's because warfarin secondary metabolites are extra toxic. And polyphenols in grapefruit are suspected of increasing bioavailability of the extra toxic metabolites- especially if you don't have phase two working properly. Then there are drugs like aspirin or salicylates that the body has a limit on How fast it can detoxify the substance. That's why if you're going to take a drug, the dose can be very important. Then there are opioids that present their own problems because detoxification ability of the body can change from one dose to the next. That's why they can be unexpectedly deadly. And each of us can probably name a famous star two who has Quote unquote accidentally died that way. So we know drugs cause problems for the liver. We also know that one drug usually has side effects that require us to use the next. So much money and manpower goes into research to find the next new drug said to be able to fix us. Just today, a newspaper headline read, " pfizer hired 600 employees due to large increase of adverse events reports. Document." So a product promoted as our answer to illness. And even getting back to quote unquote normal. He has so many adverse effects. The company that made it gets to expand by 600 employees. Is this growth to find a solution to the problems they caused in the first place? I'm not here to judge a particular drug company. It's just that the drug is a foreign substance. And it needs to be detoxified. A beautiful thing about our design is the amazing efficiency of the liver. I've read research saying that the liver can figure out how to detoxify a substance even if that liver has never ran across it or seen it before. Yet, somehow, even though the body recognizes hormones, and may make unfamiliar natural substances the liver hasn't met yet fully detoxified. It may not recognize all the drugs and chemicals in our environment. For example, plastics contain chemicals called Xeno estrogens. They act like estrogens are hormones in the body. Hormone is a messenger that brings a message to an organ. For example, luteinizing hormone brings a message to the ovaries that it's time to ovulate. T3 sends a message to the thyroid to normalize the metabolism or how fast our food is burned up. But Xeno estrogens from plastics are not natural estrogens that the body recognizes. And the body doesn't easily eliminate them. They are considered endocrine or hormonal system disruptors because of this. Xeno estrogens from plastics and chemical estrogens are examples of chemicals that may not fully clear, and that can accumulate in the liver. When a substance accumulates in the liver that could become a tumor. Maybe it's part of what makes our liver's fatty. A natural product is more likely to contain substances that the body recognizes. But the problem for commerce is that a natural product cannot be patented. A drug cannot be patented if it is in its natural form. So by definition, a drug will almost always be in the form a body doesn't recognize. Unless it's a combination of natural products that is patented. So if a body cannot recognize a drug to get rid of it fully and has the potential for creating other major problems over time. Would it be wise to seriously consider a drug's purpose before considering taking it? Oh, my, it sounds like I'm saying never to take a drug and I'm not a doctor, so you'd better counsel with your doctor about this, but I have not had a drug in over third. No 25 years, at least. And I don't plan to, again, God-willing. If I get a headache, I think. Did I drink too much caffeine or chocolate yesterday? Have I had enough water today. If I get a tooth pain, I consider have I been eating too much sugar in relation to building foods? Listen to episode 10 to more fully understand this concept of doctor Price's Or have I been sunbathing enough to produce the vitamin D I need? Or eaten enough, high vitamin butter or K2 to keep my teeth strong? I might choose to take oregano oil and high dose probiotics if a day of fasting, doesn't take the tooth pain away. But I can now recognize long before things become a problem to make changes that improve things. Okay. For now I'll get off my no drugs soapbox and focus on how detox works. The recent research shows that one out of every three of us has a fatty liver. And doesn't know it. The same study claims that 30% of us have diabetes or pre-diabetes whether we know it or not. 33% is a very similar number to 30%. Is it possible that a fatty liver and diabetes are somehow connected? Chinese medicine addresses liver congestion first. Just think about that for a minute. If you have blood sugar issues, chinese medicine says to clear the liver. They say the cause of blood sugar issues begins in the liver and kidneys. What? Isn't it in the pancreas. That's what Western medicine seems to teach. Yet I
