As Shelby recovered from his health problem, he set his mind to a new vision. This new vision led to Azhen Sanctuary's birth.  Azhen Sanctuary is a 160-acre off-grid sanctuary offering educational courses and workshops to help people buy land and be self-sufficient. He co-founded this with his brother, Jaymie Friesen. In this episode, Shelby gives you a glimpse of how this project started, a walkthrough of how it is structured, and how it continuously grows through the years.  Shelby also shares their plans as he envisions the sanctuary as a space for teaching and skill building.   Listen as the interview on Searching For Truth With A Renegade Mind caps off with Shelby talking about: How he grounded the vision that he created Building courses and conducting workshops A walkthrough in the Azhen Sanctuary His plans for teaching and skill-building How his purpose evolved through time   Get to know more about Shelby Friesen: ⬇️ Instagram Facebook Azhen Sanctuary Website   ➡️ Want to check the upcoming workshops in Azhen Sanctuary? I will always be different. This is what Shelby has always thought about himself. He has a weird pull to find the truth in things and has questioned almost everything for his entire life. He is not sure why or where it all started. It was not until his 21st birthday and a 3-day drinking binge that he fell into a mental health downward spiral he could never have imagined. He has been in the hole for a year with no help from doctors or the conventional system. He remembered laying in his bed one day and letting go of every last ounce of drive he had. Shelby thought that he actually might die. Everything just felt like death for him. However, he decided to give it one last shot and do everything he could to bounce back. He came back stronger than he ever was -- mentally and physically. Shelby continued to challenge himself, and now he is working on his new project, the Azhen Sanctuary, which serves his purpose of uncovering the truth and finding a better way to live. In this week’s episode of People of Purpose, Tanur and Shelby will talk about his health journey and how he bounced back.   Get to know more about Shelby Friesen: ⬇️ Instagram Facebook Azhen Sanctuary Website   These are the other key 🔑 points you should look for in this episode: Shelby's journalling and how Phil took it as a challenge His truth and whys, freedom and fulfillment Finding financial freedom at a young age His health struggles and his journey to healing Being a whole food health nutritionist and the Azhen sanctuary     ➡️ Want to know more about Shelby’s Azhen Sanctuary? Figuratively, an epic is a long narrative poem in elevated style recounting the deeds of a legendary or historical hero. It can also refer to something that extends beyond the usual or ordinary, especially in size or scope. According to Zander, EPIC also stands for Every Pilgrimage Includes Commitment.  Have you thought about what your EPIC goals are?  If not, Zander suggests writing it down first. Get a pen and paper, and let the thoughts get out of your head. And from there, think and plan about how you will achieve these goals. What are the actions that you should take? Create systems and structures in your life that will guide you into this transformative journey. It may seem out of reach at first, and there will be detours along the way, but with a commitment to your plans and goals, you will surely get the EPIC life you want!   Listen as the interview on Why EPIC begins with 1 step forward caps off with Zander talking about: How do turn roadblocks into scenic detours The 97/3 rule – for an instant empowering perspective How to visualize or realize your epic goals   Get to know more about Zander Sprague: ⬇️ Website LinkedIn Facebook Instagram Twitter TikTok   ➡️ Want to know more about what Zander does and further understand his EPIC journey? Check out his website at https://zandersprague.com/ ➡️ Do you want to join the growing community of People of Purpose? Follow and like our Facebook and Instagram pages to get inspired and connected with purpose-driven people like you!
“No matter how prepared you think you are for the death of a loved one, it still comes as a shock, and it still hurts very deeply.” - Bill Graham Losing a family member is arguably one of the hardest things we will go through. Nothing can ever prepare us for grief. Losing someone is like losing a piece of yourself. According to the natural flow of life, the children say goodbye first to their parents. That is why it feels harder when it is the other way around. You can never imagine the pain parents have to go through in this unfortunate event. But have you ever thought about what siblings go through in such an occurrence? Usually, the parents mainly receive the condolences and the emotional support. But how about the sisters and brothers left behind? Are they receiving the same support they need in these times of grief? As a result, Zander Sprague ended up writing about his own experience in his book Making Lemonade: Choosing a Positive Pathway After Losing Your Sibling. Additionally, this opened him up to pursue and create a more epic journey for himself and others. Zander Sprague is an internationally acclaimed public speaker, Amazon Best-Selling Author, and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). Ryan sets his foot into continuously building a global community of companies and leaders through workshops and urban communities, and in line with this are purpose and leadership. He defines purpose as something you are not committed to for the rest of your life, but rather something that will direct you in the next phase of your life. Your purpose will continuously evolve throughout your life, and we should learn to embrace these changes. Moreover, Ryan stressed that leadership is about setting a clear vision for the future and guiding people to achieve it. It also involves understanding oneself and the organization as a whole. Are entrepreneurs born or made?  It can be a combination of both. Some of you might have a distant memory of your younger self mowing the lawn, selling some cookies or lemonades, or shoveling pathways to earn a few bucks. Out of our young mind’s understanding, these little things are acts of entrepreneurship. As we grow older and gain knowledge, we may pursue further studies and hone our skills.  Can you be an entrepreneur with a purpose in mind? Definitely YES! This is what PoP’s guest, Ryan Allis, is all about. Ryan has demonstrated a keen interest in business ventures from an early age -- he has done landscaping for a local church, set up a computer business, and become a web designer. And as Ryan went to university, he explored more areas and met new people, and this is where he recognized the endless possibilities and opportunities ahead of him.  Ryan is now the Chairman of Hive. His purpose on this planet is to build a global community of leaders committed to creating a better world. He was previously a technology entrepreneur and was CEO and Co-founder of iContact and led the company with 300 employees, 70,000 customers, and $50M in annual sales.  In this week’s episode of People of Purpose, Tanur and Ryan will talk about his constant drive to create and be a part of the solution and help people actualize their purpose.   Get to know more about Ryan Allis: ⬇️ LinkedIn Hive.org Website Lessons from my 20s   These are the other key 🔑 points you should look for in this episode: The role his family played in shaping his purpose His constant drive to create and be a part of the solution  His trip to Uganda changed his perspective on charitable giving versus investing in local entrepreneurs The lessons he learned from his early years that he applies to his current focus Purpose in his own words and what he has learned about helping people to actualize their purpose   Links in this episode: The Process of Creating Purpose-Driven Leaders: How Harvard Business School and Landmark Led To The Founding of Hive by Ryan Allis Landmark   ➡️ Want to know and be a part of a community of purpose-driven leaders? Do you regularly attend church? Do you talk daily to God through prayers? Are you actively preaching the Gospel? If yes, then you are reflecting Christianity through your actions. But let me ask you, how genuine are these habits? Do you practice these habits out of a sincere commitment to being a disciple of Jesus or just to be called a Christian?  In his younger years, Tom considers himself a “POP Christian”. One who calls himself a Christian but is very sketchy, superstitious, has a lot of bad habits, and is not a good influence on others. But a death-defying injury and the death of a close friend opened his eyes and impacted his beliefs on what genuine faith truly is. As little kids, we grew up looking up to superheroes. We are engrossed with their superpowers that we imagine ourselves having one. But, would you believe if we said that you don’t need to be a superhero to be powerful? Yes, that’s right! Each one of us has this power within ourselves that we have yet discovered. But to realize our fullest potential, we must first fully know ourselves – our identity and our truths. Understanding those aspects will allow us to create an internal experience within us, a sense of fulfillment, a flow of life. And how we feel inside is a contributing factor to our external actions – the things that we do to experience the life that we want. Helping others discover their power is what Ginny Gane does best.
