SEASON OF JUSTICE!!!

SEASON OF JUSTICE!!!

2021-07-1536:2017

Audiochuck’s founder and CEO, Ashley Flowers, has founded a new non-profit called Season of Justice. Season of Justice (SOJ) is dedicated to providing funding to law enforcement agencies and families to help solve cold cases. SOJ provides grants to law enforcement for advanced DNA analysis solutions, such as forensic genealogy and next-generation sequencing. The organization also awards grants to families to support awareness campaigns, search teams and other initiatives that can assist in pushing their cold cases forward. SOJ’s goal is to provide financial resources for both law enforcement and families in order to bring closure to those impacted by unsolved violent crimes. Though Season of Justice is completely separate from audiochuck, it’s because of Crime Junkie listeners that we have been able to fund the organization so far. Every time you’ve ordered merch, signed up for the fan club or just listened to one of our ads on Crime Junkie we have donated to SOJ. Because of you we have already been able to award $145,000 in grants to assist with 25 cold cases. And that’s JUST the beginning. We expect to award another $75,000 to $100,000 through the rest of this year and hopefully much more in the years to come. At audiochuck, we believe we have a responsibility to do more than just tell these stories. We believe you as listeners have a responsibility to do more than just listen. We really wanted to be able to move the needle in the true crime space and create responsible true crime content and we are doing that together. Because of you and because of this show, we will all be directly responsible for making a difference. For making sure justice is served. For doing right by the people whose stories we tell. Whether you’ve been here since day one or you just found our show – THANK YOU. Thank you for being a part of this journey. And thank you for helping us making a lasting responsible impact in the true crime space. Audiochuck will always continue to use the funds brought in by our fans to support Season of Justice and other non-profits and cases that are important to us and our listeners, but if you want to donate directly you can visit the website Seasonofjustice.org. Season of Justice is a 501(c)(3) and all donations are tax-deductible.  Law enforcement, victims and families can also submit grant applications on the website for funding. One day we hope to wake up and say there are no more cold cases… That won’t be tomorrow, but there is a future where that’s possible. And thank you for making that happen. And today 10-12-21 the autopsy report cones back confirming she died by homicide due to strangulation. His parents & those cops, along with Laurie, will hopefully answer to this unacceptable death.

Seriously this cop just admitted to his implicit bias and racism when he announced "I don't want to take this 22 year old, small, blond hair, blue eyed girl to jail". Damn, I wish all the INNOCENT black males and females that cops killed looked automatically "lily-white innocent" to them. RIP Tamir Rice, Philando Castille, & Sandra Bland. 🤦🏻‍♀️😔😡

So he pushed her and she responded by hitting him, but his assault does not count, and she is the primary aggressor???? Yep, that's a (male) policeman take. And I detest that there is such inconsistencies with police on this issue. I was in a similar situation and the smooth talker, the charmer, always got away with what he did. Later I have watched as police on welfare checks, and cps, let themselves be charmed by the smooth talker. It's sick. Police need MH workers to accompany them for domestic incident calls cuz they use their own limited knowledge and experience that leave many victims exposed to abuse elevation and eventual risk of life.

This is such an eerie, strange, and frustrating case! His strange behavior was obviously alarming to his best friend/roommate and his gf who both called the parents at the time. Smh. Can't believe they didn't immediately fly there and see what was going on with their son if those closest to him were seeing the changes that were unusual for him. I know people react differently to situations but if I found out something weird was going on with my kid, I wouldn't feel comfortable with them driving anywhere and would have sided with the partner or whoever was withholding their car keys.

911 Operators like this truly scare me. The lack of empathy and actual listening skills like the one included in this episode makes me feel terrified for myself if I was to find myself in the unfortunate situation as the unknown caller victim. 😥

One thing that I don't believe has been covered is that the majority of cases of schizophrenia emerge in late adolescence. Bryce's changes in behavior could be seen as consistent with an onset of schizophrenia, and his substance abuse might have been a coping strategy that his newly disorganized mind came up with. I realize this is an old episode, but I'm a new binge listener and this hypothesis jumped to the front of my mind. Compelling story!

This is one of the creepiest cases I've heard of on here so far. The way Karina was murdered and disposed of does not sound like a one time event for whatever sick SOB did this to her. Did the police around this time even check or look up similar cases of blonde or young women being cut in half or having missing limbs, scrubbed clean, and discarded in or near dumpsters??? Someone this sick and twisted has to have a pattern of some sort. This is most likely not their first or only kill...
