Between October of 1977 and February of 1978, a serial killer terrorized women in Southern California. Originally preying upon sex workers in Los Angeles, this offender began to target young women irregardless of race or background, before simply vanishing for good. It wasn't until a year later that police were able to link a separate crime to this spree, and from there, began to track down the culprit... or, in this case, culprits...Sources for this episode cannot be listed here due to character limitations. During spring break of 1975 Shelia & Kate Lyon went missing from a shopping center near their home and for almost 40 years no one knew what happened to them. Over the years horrible men would come into focus as suspects. Men who took the lives of 10 year old Amanda Ray, 5 year old Neely Smith, and 15 year old Kathy Beatty. But it wasn't until a cold case investigator came across a single old report from 1975 (a report that had been there all along) that the case would finally be solved and Mr. & Mrs. Lyon would finally have answers about what happened to their daughters. INFAMOUS: Alice Crimmins

INFAMOUS: Alice Crimmins

2019-07-0801:05:05143

Long before Casey Anthony there was another mother America loved to hate... Alice Crimmins. When her children went missing from their room one summer night, the police and the press were quick to point the finger at the "sex-crazed" mother. At the start of the women's lib movement, Alice stood for everything that threatened status quo of how a wife and mother should behave. But over 50 years later we can re-examine the case and her multiple trials to see if there really was a case against Alice or if she was the victim of a witch hunt. In August of 1976, the bodies of a young man and woman were found in rural Sumter County, South Carolina. Police would infer a lot from their belongings and the state of their bodies, but more than four decades later, their identities - as well as the identity of their killer - remain a mystery... BUT the Crime Junkies have a chance to change that. Sources for this episode cannot be listed here due to character limitations. Chains in a truck cab does not sound to weird. Because they maybe need to chain stuff down. But everything else is super weird.

What's the inside joke about Bellingham? That one flew over my head. I laughed at how Brit asked what is a Datsun. ...but Ashley was pronouncing it as Daaatson. 😂🤣

Katie Westfall Thank you for clarifying that. I'm actually listening to the Susan Powell case now, but they lived in Utah.

Apple Betty Washington has a horrible reputation over their, and other crime podcasts, for poor policing and 911 operator handling. The death of Susan Powell's boys and Leah Roberts are two stories that come to mind about both Puyallup and Bellingham.

just saw an article about this podcast, where they stated that a number of episodes have been pulled because the host was accused of plagiarism. I actually listened to a few episodes once. but now I feel like they don't deserve any support, if they are too lazy to even do their own research.

maybe its just me but almost right off the top I figured David hired Charles to kill his family. I think he promised him a cut of thr life insurance after (so that there would be no paper trail of the payment) but then planted evidence pointing to Charles so he wouldn't have to pay him.

I just re listened to the begining. Kimberly had to have been in a car. she left work at 4:21 and was spotted at the flower shop between 4:30 and 5. she couldn't have possibly walked more then a mile in 9 to 29 minutes. she was in a car. and since she was not distraught buying those purchases. I'm thinking she was abducted by someone she knew very well. boyfriend sisters parents

this case is super bad with details. Why isn't the boyfriend a suspect? if Kimberly was so skitterish, wouldn't it make more sense to look at the people closest to her. let's say her boyfriend was waiting for her after work, she would have probably been pretty comfortable getting into a vehicle with him. that would explain why she went over the bridge to get a flower and balloon for his birthday.

Marie Celeste A journalist and a few other podcasters have come out and accused Crime Junkie of plagerism. CJ have removed at least 5 episodes and I've read that they've also removed all of the $5 tier episodes from Patreon. Most of the info on it can be found on Reddit and Twitter.
