Description

Love in action is listening to understand, not to react.

This is not a podcast about discussing spiritual deconstruction, reconstruction, contemplation or The Bible. There are numerous podcasts that do that...we know because we love and listen to them constantly.

Our intent is taking all that we know and believe at the time and live it out in a conversation while sitting at a literal or figurative table. We won't shy away from a topic or person and we aren't going to have an argument or debate.

Here are those conversations.

Honestly, I’m struggling mightily with nationalism and culture in the United States. Especially as it lines up with my faith and how it is evolving. How should our faith stand with the culture we live in and the rest of the world? Stephen Backhouse, who has chewed on this subject professionally and personally, comes to the table to discuss these issues and similar ones. Skubalon is the Greek word that in its day was profane and highly symbolic. To know what it means you’ll have to listen to Stephen Backhouse’s episode on Nomad Podcast here. And no, refuse, rubbish or trash is not the full meaning. You can find the board game Stephen mentioned, Twilight Imperium, here. You can find the book, Luna, Stephen mentioned here. While listening to the BLHER Podcast with Brittany Hughes and Kelly Jeanine I found another one of those tugs pulling at my heart to have a conversation with them. They talk about religion, race, gender and the obstacles we face as a society in and around those areas. I was truly humbled at their grace and candor in discussing these difficult subjects and as always we hope this conversation inspires yours! Find the BLHER Podcast and their social media links below! Stuart Gelin is very proud of his mother Renee. One day he went into a podcasting Facebook group and dropped a post inviting anyone with a pod to considering talking to his mother about Resilience. I have listened to Janet Williams episode on the Nomad Podcast so many times I've lost count. Her discussion around Apophatic Theology changed the way I perceive my understanding of words, language and God. Ironically listening to her speak is mesmerizing. This is our conversation. I read her book Seeking A God Beyond, which I highly recommend if you enjoy this conversation. You can find it here. As an avid listener of the Mixed Mental Arts Podcast Spiros Michalakis quickly became one of my all-time favorite guests.  He and a researcher at Microsoft, solved one of the world's most challenging open problems in the field of mathematical physics. Our conversation has nothing to do with that and is simply a chance to hear from the man, not just the scientist.  A special thanks to my friend Hunter Maats for making it possible. My friend Patty Pantazopoulos and her husband Tasos started a bakery/coffee shop called Anonymous Cafe in 2017. Less than a year after opening it was voted Best Bakery in Texas in an article by Buzzfeed. Despite incredible success in every way they had close their doors at the end of 2018 and find a new way to reopen. A year and a half later there is finally a light at the end of the long tunnel. We have a conversation about what kept them going during this difficult time, the incredible response(s) of their legion of loyal customers and just exactly when we can expect her mother’s amazing Eckmek to FINALLY be available again!
