Description
As a Division 1 Men\'s Tennis player myself, I often wondered what kept me playing. My podcast is my attempt at finding out what drives people to do the things they do. I wonder what people get out of the careers they choose, maybe it\'s money, maybe it\'s personal fulfillment, whatever it is I hope to hear as many stories as possible and share them here!

Rob Galloway and Nathaniel Lammons had no intent to play this year's US Open in Flushing Meadows, New York. After a long summer of traveling, and reaching a combined ranking of #146 in the ATP Doubles Rankings, Rob went to New York as a hitting partner, and Nathaniel went home to Dallas to relax. Rob signed them in as alternates, and when the heat started knocking singles players out of the draw, and Steve Johnson rolled his ankle, it was time for Nathaniel to catch a flight; they had a chance to get in! Eventually they got in, and won their first round, this is their story!
Anderson is a former FSU standout, who has made huge jumps in the professional rankings, getting up to #370 in ATP Doubles. I met him for the first time playing Futures in Egypt, and we've been boys ever since. He's won 6 Futures Doubles Titles, and was just starting to play more Challengers when his back gave out in the middle of a Doubles Final in Dubai, and he's been sidelined ever since. He just underwent PRP after 6 months of back pain, and hopefully he'll be back on court competing by the end of this year. Anderson has an interesting point of view on playing big time college tennis, as well as how he goes about trying to get to the Grand Slams and turn himself into the best player he can be.

Big thanks to Gunn, Vitalyte, and Wilson for sticking with me and supporting me all year!
Episode 37 is all about Amer Delic's experiences as one of the world's best tennis players. He topped out at #60 in Singles and #74 in ATP Doubles. Amer played, and won, some amazing matches against the Bryan Brothers at Wimbledon, Djokovic at the Australian, and too many others to even write down. We talk about how he trained to be able to last through 5 setters, how mental coaches helped him reset his game in tough times, and how certain tennis coaches helped shape him as a player and person.

Amer Delic grew up playing tennis in Bosnia, but when he and his family emigrated to the United States and landed in Jacksonville, Florida his game took off. He brought two rackets with him and started hitting with anyone he could find in the Jacksonville area, building himself into a world class player. He was a 3-Time All American, and NCAA Singles Champion while playing under Craig Tiley at the University of Illinois. As a professional, he was ranked as highly as #60 in ATP Singles, and #74 in ATP Doubles, collecting 3 Challenger Doubles Titles, 2 Futures Singles Titles, and 6 Challenger Singles Titles. Here are some highlights, against Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open, and against Ivan Ljubicic.
Big Thanks to Gunn, Vitalyte, Solinco, and now Wilson for supporting me and my podcast!

Scoville Jenkins was a top American tennis hope from Atlanta, Georgia who got ranked as highly as #6 in the World as a Junior and #187 as an ATP Professional in Singles. He played all the Slams, including playing Federer, Nadal, and Roddick at the US Open. He had an outstanding career, but was sidelined by some arm injuries, and after making a comeback a couple different times, he decided he no longer had the heart to keep going. Scoville and I talk openly about what it takes to play at the highest level, if he felt any pressure being an African-American player, and how he creates his own happiness now as the Assistant Men's Tennis Coach at the University of Wisconsin.
Big Thanks to my sponsors Gunn, Vitalyte, and Solinco!

Richard Muscio is the host of the Award Winning podcast, "It's Your Life and Your Money", and the Author of the Award Winning book, "So, What's Your Play." When he was 14, he was hired to be Bobby Riggs' scrapbook maker, so Richard saw the Mother's Day Massacre, and The Battle of the Sexes first hand! Being around Bobby, Billie Jean King, and Margaret Court taught him a lot about the way he wanted to be and about what he wanted from his future careers, which led him to create the world's largest Thanksgiving Day 5K for charities. Richard has ideas about how we should teach sports to the children of our communities and what a person should be getting from the job they give their life to!
Rich Gannon was an NFL Quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, and Oakland Raiders. He fought for playing time for most of his career, after being drafted out of the University of Delaware, until he went to the Raiders and was handed the keys to the kingdom by Al Davis. He led the Raiders to Superbowl XXXVII, and also was a 2 Time Pro Bowl MVP, 4 Time Pro Bowl Selection, 3 Time AFC Player of the Year, and held more passing records than I could fit in this bio! I loved getting to pick the brain of such a successful guy, I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I do!

Mike "Popezilla" Pope is an MMA fighter, and current CFFC Lightweight Champion of the World! I met Mike while he was working at GNC in Jacksonville, Florida before he became the CFFC Champion. I couldn't believe he was funding his career by working at GNC and teaching MMA/Jiu Jitsu classes so I asked him to do a podcast and tell me his story. A few weeks after he won the biggest fight of his career we met up, got a coffee, and did this episode. Mike has an unbelievable story, and is on his way to being a regular MMA fighter, I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did!

Sebastian Serrano is a 29 year old tennis player from Cartagena, Colombia. He graduated from East Tennessee State University in 2008, and played Futures and Challengers for 5 years, reaching a career high of #720 in Singles and #482 in the ATP Rankings. He's won three Futures Doubles Titles in his career. Because of injuries and lack of finances, he quit his playing career and moved to Boston, Massachusetts where he taught tennis at a country club for two years. He said he became bored and depressed while teaching, so with the support of his wife and a newfound belief in God he has started his professional career again and is almost a year into it! He plays with new meaning now, and has a lot to say to any younger players that will listen!

Chris Hanson graduated Cum Laude from Dartmouth in 2013 with a Psychology Degree. At Dartmouth he was a 3-Time First Team All-American and a 4-Time First Team All-Ivy, I wish the list stopped there. But as a professional he's won 3 PSA World Tour Titles and right now sits at a career high world ranking of #66!
Chris and I are the same age and have a lot in common because we both play individual sports, it was great to know someone else feels the same way about life trying to make it as a professional athlete! A big shout out to Chris for doing this episode with me, as well as to our mutual clothing sponsor, Boast!

Robbie Mudge is a professional tennis player from Winston Salem, NC. He played four years for North Carolina State University where he finished at the top of the record lists for match wins in Singles and Doubles. Just now completing his first year on Tour he's won Two Futures Doubles Titles, and reached career high rankings of #650 in Doubles and #1338 in Singles. Robbie is one of the funniest guys I've traveled with so far; you'll get to know him a bit through our conversation, but it really doesn't do him justice! Robbie, best of luck brother!

Clay Thompson has a creative writing degree from UCLA, where he was the #1 singles player in the country his senior year and an ITA All-American. Since graduation, he's climbed up the ATP rankings, reaching a career high #408 in Singles and winning one Futures Singles title in Mexico. Clay and I talk about the biggest regret of his career so far, how he feels about being known for his on-court antics, and his goals and reasons for playing professional tennis. Clay is an intense, earnest guy and it was a blast getting to talk while we were in Egypt. Click here and here to see why people love watching him play!

At just 22 years old, and one year after graduating from East Carolina University, Joran has climbed to #529 in the ATP Singles rankings and #286 in the ATP Doubles rankings. Originally from Maaseik, Belgium, Joran has already captured one Singles Title and 13 Doubles Titles in his career. He went to ECU as a player who was not highly recruited and by the end of his career he reached #28 in the ITA Singles Rankings and was voted Conference USA Player of the Year, needless to say he's the best player to ever come out of ECU! Joran is a perfect example of how college tennis can be a good way for players to develop physically and mentally before trying a professional career; he credits much of his success on the Futures Tour to his four years spent at ECU.

Matteo is 28 years old, from Ceprano, Italy, and has been ranked as high as #667 ATP in Singles, and #423 ATP in Doubles. He played four years of college tennis at the University of Tennessee, where he was on one of the best teams in the country; they lost in the finals of NCAA's to USC. Talking to Matteo was cool for me because he's 28 and still out here playing Futures full time, playing league matches and coaching to help cover his costs; he has no intentions of stopping to get a "real job". He loves the life he's built for himself through tennis, and knows that something good will come from all the connections he has made while traveling once his playing career is over.

Evan Hoyt is a 21 year old professional tennis player from Wales, Great Britain. Right now he's ranked #577 in Singles, and #475 in Doubles. He has two career Singles Futures Titles and five Doubles Futures Titles to his name so far, with more to come! He was the #52 Junior in the world and has had a quick but challenging transition to the professional tour; he has already seriously questioned whether or not he has what it takes to "make it" out here.

Desmond Cooper is trying to make the Jacksonville Jaguars final roster. He went undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft, but was signed after impressing the coaches at rookie camp. From The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida, Des went to Wake Forest and spent three years there; one year as a redshirt and two as a starter.
