*** Content warnings: Child sexual assault, child murder *** In 1986, two pre-teen girls from Tacoma, Washington, were abducted and murdered mere months apart. Both Michella Welch and Jennifer Bastian were attacked, sexually assaulted and killed after cycling to a public park. Their crime scenes were eerily similar; both bodies were hidden in wooded areas, and the girls even looked alike. Investigators were quick to rule the slayings were the work of a serial killer… But it would take more than 30 years for the shocking truth to come out. --- Narration – Anonymous Host Research & writing – Erin Munro Creative direction – Milly Raso Production and music – Mike Migas Music – Andrew D.B. It’s been four years since I first learned about the disappearance of Niamh Maye, an 18-year-old who went missing from the small New South Wales town of Batlow back in 2002. I don’t know if it’s because Niamh and I finished high school in the same year, or we shared a similar taste in music, but I felt instinctively drawn to her story. At the time of her disappearance, Niahm was just a young woman, setting out on an adventure with friends and testing the waters of life, like so many 18-year-olds do. But unlike the rest of us, something pulled Niamh under. As I learned more about Niamh’s story, the revelations that unfolded left me in shock. I spent four years speaking with family, friends, witnesses and members of law enforcement to try and get some answers. The result is Missing Niamh, the latest 12 part series from Casefile Presents. Researched and hosted by me, the series features exclusive interviews with key players, who help us dive into the details of Niamh’s case as we go back to Batlow to try and make sense of what really happened. The entire 12-part series is available now. Be sure to download and follow Missing Niamh, wherever you get your podcasts. https://missingniamh.com

It's surprising to me that with all the loving people in Kelly's life, no one ever asked. I think it's important to ask about our loved ones' life

Casefile True Crime is hands down one of the best true crime podcasts out there! The storytelling is captivating, and the attention to detail in every case keeps me hooked from start to finish. I appreciate the host's calm, factual delivery without unnecessary dramatics—just pure, well-researched content. Each episode sheds light on cases I’ve never heard of, and it’s clear a lot of care goes into making sure the victims’ stories are respectfully told. Really think about what she said. That is what Mike did. He lived his life the way he wanted. He didn't stop beating his first wife. He told the kids, "What happens in my house, stays in my house." He killed all three of them and left the animals to die because of his selfish needs. Being selfless and doing what IS right instead of what YOU want can be more fulfilling. Think about more than your little existence. Think about the effects of what you do to everything around you. Don't be like Mike

Why are they pronouncing Niamh (Neev) as Nee-am? It's not even an obscure Irish name, I'm surprised there's anyone who doesn't know how to pronounce it. There's no way her family gave her a name they didn't even know how to pronounce. Taking 5 seconds to Google it would have been useful.

everyone from the parents, camp counselors, and the other teens are the scummiest people on earth. at no time did any one of them step up and help this kid but continued to belittle, torture, and ignore him. Fuckers! I hope they all suffer for the rest of their lives.

Absolutely tragic outcome. You have to wonder, if this kid had just one friend, would it have been different? My heart aches for Amy's family and for Liam himself. His family did nothing to help this kid.
