The New York Yankees didn’t finish 2023 the way a lot of people predicted they would and two of those people were Stacey and Steve who had pretty bad takes throughout the season. The New York Yankees have another Cy Young winner! Gerrit Cole was unanimously voted as the American League Cy Young Award winner for 2023! Cole was one of the only positive things in an otherwise forgettable Yankees season, and we celebrate his big win! The New York Yankees had a big problem on offense last year. One of the guys contributing to that problem was Giancarlo Stanton. Last week, during the GM Meetings in Arizona, Brian Cashman had some things to say about the slugger that came to light this week. The New York Yankees had problems in 2023, and owner Hal Steinbrenner and President of Baseball Operations/General Manager Brian Cashman spoke to the media today. Cashman, who was at the GM Meetings in Arizona, addressed the assembled media outside of the venue. He was combative and punchy nearly the entire time, and we parsed through a few of his more interesting quotes. We react to his quotes and also set the record straight on one of the quotes that was taken out of context. Then we discuss what Principal Owner Hal Steinbrenner said during his Zoom with members of the media on Tuesday afternoon. He said a whole lot of nothing if we’re being honest, but he did say one thing that should make Yankee fans feel better because he revealed that he does actually know how disappointed they were with the results of the 2023 season. That’s more than we can say about Cashman. And finally, the Yankees may be close to acquiring a new hitting coach. The New York Yankees have many options in free agency if they choose wisely. Stacey and Steve go through a list of 11 Top Free Agents they think will help the Yankees. The Yankees can’t sign all 11, obviously, but even two or three could improve the team a lot in 2024. First, they go through the positions where the Yankees need help, and then they discuss the options. They open with the offensive options, including Cody Bellinger and Kevin Kiermaier, and they include a dark-horse candidate for the offense and outfielder.
