Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic skin disease that I’ve been dealing with for nearly two years that has drastically affected my life. While there is no cure, I’m taking steps to maintain this condition. H.S. causes me to be irritable on a daily basis due to the constant pain but I’m making the best of it with prescribed medication. I am still somewhat embarrassed of this but I couldn’t stay quiet about it anymore, so if you’re suffering from H.S., I want to hear your story so if you feel the need, contact me directly at creativecopingpod@gmail.com Follow the Host: Facebook: https://facebook.com/johnnyanomaly0 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/johnny_anomaly/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/johnny_anomaly0 Follow the Show: Facebook: https://facebook.com/creativecopingpod Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/creativecopingpod/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/creativecopingpod/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/creativecopingpod/support

I believe we’ve all worked jobs that we feel have stifled our creativity and left us unfulfilled at the end of the day but in the words of Austin Kleon, “It is easy to assume that if only you could trade your ordinary life for a new one, all your creative problems would be solved...You do not need to have an extraordinary life to make extraordinary work." In this episode we redefine success while simultaneously creating career capitol and surrounding ourselves with a creative community much like The Inklings of the ‘30’s and ‘40’s. Our grief monster has a way of making us feel as though we are trapped in  the middle of a horror movie with that antagonist closing in. We are  gripped with fear, our heart pounding out of our chest, tears streaming  down our face, and no sign of hope...but soon the sun rises and that  monster that was terrorizing us through the night is far less intimidating in the light. Once confronted, we realize this beast can be tamed by forming healthy habits of dealing with our grief. We can begin to experience post traumatic growth and soon that brute that was trying to kill us is on a leash, leaving us in complete control.  Join the mailing list or contact me directly at creativecopingpod@gmail.com Follow the Host: Facebook: https://facebook.com/johnnyanomaly0 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/johnny_anomaly/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/johnny_anomaly0 Follow the show on Social Media: Facebook: https://facebook.com/creativecopingpod Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/creativecopingpod/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/creativecopingpod/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/creativecopingpod/support
Death, Thou Shalt Die

Death, Thou Shalt Die

2020-04-0711:23

It's been said that death is the only thing the entire human race has in common, but society has yet to master the language of grief. On this weeks episode I talk about our unavoidable enemy, Death and offer some Biblical insight. I also draw from Joseph Bayley's book, "The Last Thing We Talk About" which he writes, "The paradox is that when you accept the face of death, you are freed to live." Also featured is the sonnet, “Death Be Not Proud” by John Donne Join the mailing list or contact me directly at creativecopingpod@gmail.com Follow the Host: Facebook: https://facebook.com/johnnyanomaly0 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/johnny_anomaly/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/johnny_anomaly0 Follow the show on Social Media: Facebook: https://facebook.com/creativecopingpod Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/creativecopingpod/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/creativecopingpod/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/creativecopingpod/support

This episode was hugely influenced by Jeff Goins of The Portfolio Life podcast that served as motivation for me to keep this podcast and my other artistic endeavors moving forward. During these times as a quarantined Creative it’s easy to become lethargic and frustrated but you’ve got to keep going, let the world know that you’re still here. Coping creatively comes in various forms and for my latest guest Aidan Feaster it’s through fronting a horror core rap group called Scarecrow that he really expresses himself artistically. When it comes to what motivates her to keep creating, Susan says, “I don’t have this drive to be successful, it’s really more of a drive to create, to respond to what I’m called to do to the best if my ability...but I am doing what has been laid in front of me and that’s what matters.” Connect with Susan: Instagram.com/poetkindpodcast Twitter.com/poetkindpodcast --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/creativecopingpod/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/creativecopingpod/support
Within a few weeks of being introduced to each other, guitarist John MacLeod and poet Emily Joy Galvin quickly realized that there was something special about their collaborative effort to perform together live back in January. John’s guitar arrangements accompanied the soft-spoken poetry of Emily so well that they decided to work under the name, Rose & Cloud. The duo has already released their debut EP, “It’s Only Thursday” and in this episode we break down each song/poem to give you all a glimpse of the creative process.
