The first week of turkey season has come and gone and holy smokes was it an eventful one! Birds were missed, birds were later shot, but most importantly, a good time was had by all! This week is all about turkey hunting success stories and lessons learned, reminders earned, and key takeaways for everyone to take with them into the woods in the coming weeks. After whiffing on a bird opening day, Pierce sought redemption a couple days later and was able to connect with a gorgeous tom out at a family friend's property to punch his Season A tag. Then, he joined his good friend Chance for an early morning hunt on a property that is filled to the brim with turkeys! That hunt was short, sweet and action packed and resulted in Chance filling his tag and harvesting his second turkey ever. It's a fun episode filled with laughs and even a few tips for folks listening to take with them into the woods. Enjoy the episode and good luck out there in the coming weeks! There are 118 species of reptiles in Florida. The largest, the American alligator is the state reptile. The most common is the brown anole, a commonly seen lizard. Within the gauntlet of creepy, crawly things are rattlesnakes, cottonmouths and the fairly recent invasive threat, the Burmese python. Living, and hound hunting in Florida is an exercise in dealing with reptiles on a regular basis. Florida coon hunter Mack Britt of Parrish, Florida, an unincorporated community in Manatee County near Sarasota on the west coast, began coon hunting with his dad as a boy. He was bitten by the hound dog bug at an early age and has remained true to his calling for nearly fifty years.  The reasons Mack was chosen as a guest for this podcast are manifold. First and foremost, he is a “good old boy.” I’ve never heard a disparaging word uttered about Mack among his peers within the community of Florida coon hunters. I’ve driven thousands of miles with him to PKC hunts, his hunt of choice, and have enjoyed every mile. I talk with him regularly by phone. Secondly, Mack is a veteran coon hunter in an area the is not for the faint of heart, an area where the numbers of coon hunters has dwindled over the years. He knows Florida coons and their habitats as well as anyone and better than most. He isn’t afraid to brave the hazards of hunting alone in a jungle swamp and does so regularly. When a dog trees, his or yours, he will hack, crawl, and crash his way through palmettos, cat-claw briars and soft-bottomed, snake-infested swamps to get to the dog.     If you’re wondering what it would be like to hunt coons in Florida, here it is. It ain’t pretty, but if you are the adventurous type, there ain’t nothin’ like it! Nate Rozeveld and Rod Rozeveld sit down and discuss Nate's hunt for Wild hogs in Oklahoma on this week's episode of Michigan Wild. Starting the episode off Nate and Rod actually talk about turkey hunting and why it wasn't a priority to hunt Turkeys or a desirable game to pursue. Rod growing up had first hand experience with the negative impact the wild turkey had on the farmers crop and livestock. So to him and local farmers they were a nuisance and not necessary. As time has gone on the population got more in check and seemed to alleviate the stress they put on farmers' fields and danger to their livestock.   Farms and Ranches face similar detrimental issues if they happen to be in an area that has an abundance of wild hogs. Which is exactly where Nate found himself in Oklahoma. He was invited down there by John Hudspeth from the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast and enjoyed his time partaking in killing some hogs and bringing some meat back home. Some of the topics discussed around the hunting trip were... -What is the terrain like in Oklahoma -The challenges the locals face due to the wild hogs -Methods used for hog population control -Recap of each successful hunt  Finishing up the episode Nate and Rod hop into some current events focused around their spring food plot ideas. They have some new equipment they are excited to try along with their first planting of Vitalize seeds Nitroboost.  Don’t forget your chance at a free Michigan Wild hat by sending an email to Michiganwildpod@gmail.com with a screenshot of a review or rating anywhere you listen to the podcast! This week on the Pennsylvania Woodsman we are joined once again by Jason Goe from Final Stand YouTube channel. Previously Jason discussed hunting Sika deer in Maryland, this week we unpack the rest of Jason's successful fall of 2023. Jason was able to harvest a mountain whitetail with a bow, a fall gobbler, and his first Pennsylvania black bear. In addition to PA and MD Sika deer, he tagged two whitetail bucks with a bow in MD during the archery season. Talk about a season to remember! We breakdown the timeline and story behind each of these hunts. Throughout this episode, you'll notice two things consistently - passion for being in the woods and attention to detail. Jason maximizes his scouting trips as much as possible which paid great rewards this fall. This is especially apparent in the story of his PA whitetail he harvested on a new piece of public mountain land the first year he stepped foot in it! We cap off discussing the spring 2024 turkey season where Jason plans to hunt MD and PA, with hopes of completing the PA Grand Slam and continuing his streak of harvesting a PA spring gobbler since the early 2000s.  Learn more about your ad choices. Sika came to Delmarva in the early 1900's. Definitely not 1970. Also, they taste nothing like Mule deer when we get them out of MD. Way better than whitetail.

great podcasts on turkey hunting, alot of really insightful stuff to keep in mind for early season strategies. Could do without all the religious comments though, not all hunters share your beliefs.
