Description

Hi, I’m Dax Shepard, and I love talking to people. I am endlessly fascinated by the messiness of being human, and I find people who are vulnerable and honest about their struggles and shortcomings to be incredibly sexy. I invite you to join me as I explore other people’s stories. We will celebrate, above all, the challenges and setbacks that ultimately lead to growth and betterment. What qualifies me for such an endeavor? More than a decade of sobriety, a degree in Anthropology and four years of improv training. I will attempt to discover human “truths” without any laboratory work, clinical trials or data collection. I will be, in the great tradition of 16th-century scientists, an Armchair Expert.

I love listening to your show! This episode was especially interesting to me.I have recently taken an interest to the microbiome. I have been drinking 1 cup of, homemade milk kefir (fermented milk) for 4 months now. It has really helped with the arthritis in my knees and has given me the ability to be more active without the trigger of achy joints. Canada's Food Guide now lists kefir. It's been around for many years, perhaps today's society needs to add this to their diet. There are many possible health benefits.

Dr. Gundry is a surgeon, not a medical doctor. Dax, your questioning his study in not using placebos was spot on and the key to his weak spot! My fiance, a GI physician, calls his theories just that. He is spreading a lot of fears not based on credible data. He gets a lot of patients with these "leaky gut" and "brain fog" fears when the majority of their issues are truly rooted in anxiety. Beware doctors who want to sell you snake oil.

stopped listening a couple months back bc they started coming off more and more as elitists who don't get everyday people at all. I unsubscribed when I heard his take on homeless people. I wanted to see who he's had on recently and give it another try, but I see I'm not the only one who feels the same. later Dax

Monica, I just listened to the excellent Dan Savage interview. I was completely horrified when you admitted to not being " a nice person" to service people like those working at the grocery store. It takes no energy to be polite and simply because someone works in a store, much less in a restaurant, doesn't mean they wouldn't like being treated with respect. There is a big difference between pandering or infantilizing servers and treating people with a basic modicum of respect. Certainly they deserve to be paid more but so do the vast majority of people in this country where the top 1% earns more than the rest. Who are you going to be cold toward next? Teachers? What is the level of employment before common human decency kicks in for you?
