but with an annuity don't you lose control of that principle money? whereas if you were to invest in bonds and have hugh emergency, those funds you could cash in on, or sell. this is my only negative with annuities is that you are handing over a large chunk of your retirement money that you will see monthly but you will never get it back in a large lump-sum if you need it. And I do know that you can create a rider option in that annuity potentially. I'm not knowledge enough, but this is what I think I know
