In this SOP Health and Wellness Episode, I recap what’s been happening on my health journey in hopes that it assists someone out there dealing with fibroids and iron deficiency. Firing your doctor is a real but radical choice for some women. We want to trust them and their expertise but given the health industry’s propensity towards not giving Black women the best care, we have to be diligent in our own research and care. This is my story.
Soul On Purpose: A Health and Wellness Episode. This episode is about making sure you receive the care you deserve and how I was able to get to the bottom of what has been plaguing me - big hint - my PCP wasn’t instrumental at all.
Being Young and Free is so key. My daughter is 24. I had her when I was 21 going on 22 and my mom had me when she was 20. I’m so glad she’s not where I nor my mom was at her age. Blessings.
Today #SOPPodcast had the pleasure of chatting with Janice B (Buerkli) about all the goodness she’s been up to! I love this woman! She is insightful and gave voice to the many issues with our social constructs being what they are but also wins in being a reiki healer in these days and times.  Take a listen to what started as a Wellness Episode and ended as a call to take better care of ourselves and understand that race is real and yes you do need to consider it in your practitioner, not as a hinderance to you getting your needs met - but that they need to be able to see it and know that it matters. Things got a little weird with the tech #Anchor 😩 and we had a glitch or two, but listen to the end because Janice share with us where she’s going to be next with #TheHealingFlameCollective and 3 pieces of sage advice for Women of Color from her perspective.  Please tune in and check it out and when you get to that little bit of dead air in the beginning of the last 10 minutes 😩👀 - please just fast forward about 50 seconds to hear about their album! It’s worth it!
In this issue the host, Tanefa Wallace of Soul On Purpose explores her own daddy issues and how how she addressed them in order to move past the pain of her childhood to befriend, love and interact with both her biological and step-father. Being blessed with two dads is a beautiful thing! But unpacking and dealing with the issues wasn’t pretty at all. There’s a way for us all with daddy issues to bind up our wounds so we don’t bleed into our other relationships on people who don’t deserve it or understand. In this episode there a few tips on how to heal.
In this episode we are joined by Galanda B of GalandaB.com! She is giving us the info we need to become more mindful as well as why it’s important and how to do it starting today!
Hey Y’all Beautiful Souls! Just peeking my head in to say hey, remind you all of our purpose here and let you in on what’s been going on in my world! Enjoy.
In this episode we touch on Maternal Health. Black women have had a storied past with OBGYNs. In this episode we have a message from Jacquelyn Clemmons of DeLaLuz Wellness who shares her thoughts on why doulas are important. Also in this episode, we give you tips to turn the tide away from us dying in childbirth so frequently. We pull from a recent post from Dr. Andrea Alexander who is a resident OBGYN where she shares 5 tips. I added my own experience as well as a tip of my own. Knowledge is power.
In this Soul On Purpose Podcast - Emotional Wellness Episode, we are talking about the best hood there is - motherhood. If you are a mother or have a mother, (I think that's everyone...) this episode is for you.  How do you deal with Mother's Day when your mother isn't here or if you don't generally speak to her or interact with her like that? What does self-care look like for busy moms? How do you deal with trauma tied to motherhood? How does Aeysha Curry fit into this discussion? Well, tune into this Episode of #SOPPodcast and find out.
In this episode we catch up with our host Tanefa Wallace of #SoulOnPurpose right after a mini vacay! We’re back and talking about how F-Boys need to get right for Black Love to flourish but also what Black women can do to make sure we don’t get caught up. Take a listen. Then catch our host on IG @Soul_On_Purpose to continue the conversation.
In this episode I wanted to come on and encourage parents and single moms to keep going for it even when things get rough. I share a little about my story with my son over the last couple of years and how I have been able to manage doing it all despite the issues we faced as a family. It really takes a village and a strong self-care routine to be resilient in the face of life upheavals!
I am hoping that this 40 Day run of self-love and affirmation is catching on with you all and that you have entered into this new season with new found love of self! I am checking in to share what we have been posting this week! It is my sincere hope that you are out there affirming the hell out of your lives, literally.
Soul On Purpose with Hollis Gray of Holistree! In this episode we chat with Hollis and capture what it is to be Black, woman and magic! We also tackle the generational curses and burdens we carry from out our ancestors and how our coming lineage needs to have healing not be a privilege, but a right they exercise. Frequently. We also talk about the upcoming Affirmation Summit that Hollis has partnered with I’sha Gaines to put on here in the DMV on July 20th! This Affirmation Summit is and Affirmation-based gathering that incorporates wellness strategies + speaking, hands-on workshops, movement + sound to help you make peace with yourself + your passion! An entire wellness experience based on Affirmation! This ties so well in with The 40 Days of Affirmation @Soul_On_Purpose is promoting on IG and Facebook to help us step into Spring, Soul On Purpose.
