You will not want to miss this episode as Jim and Laura forensically and psychologically deconstruct Smith's on-screen behavior. This episode was done in partnership with and is sponsored by SHOWTIME and the new four-part SHOWTIME® Documentary Series Love Fraud, directed by Academy Award nominated filmmakers Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady.Watch Love Fraud, now streaming, only on SHOWTIME®.Use promo code REALCRIME at SHOWTIME.COM to get 50% off your first month of SHOWTIME® after a 30-Day Free Trial. Laura, Jim and Lisa discuss Richard Scott Smith's ability to manipulate and ingratiate himself into other people's lives, as well as the people he is using to help him hide in plain sight. One of the women we discuss is Lee who firmly believes that Smith is the victim of a "witch hunt." We break down Lee's version of Smith, the mirror it holds up to Smith's behavior and what it reveals. Later in the episode, Jim and Lisa interview the two private investigators who helped track down  Smith. Laura, Jim and Lisa deconstruct SHOWTIME® Documentary Series “Love Fraud” by first introducing you to Tracy, Ellen and Sabrina, just some of the women who were targeted by Richard Scott Smith, a man who has dedicated his life to lovebombing, grooming and marrying women whilst simultaneously enabling and stealing their dreams, frequently, they say, leaving them with massive debt.  Jim and Laura discuss Smith's behavior, and more importantly, we discuss how and why Smith keeps getting away with it and whether a group of women - who refuse to be "victims" - can stop him? This episode was done in partnership with and is sponsored by SHOWTIME® and the new four-part SHOWTIME® Documentary Series Love Fraud, directed by Academy Award nominated filmmakers Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady.Watch Love Fraud, now streaming, only on SHOWTIME®Use promo code REALCRIME at SHOWTIME.COM to get 50% off your first month of SHOWTIME® after a 30-Day Free Trial. At least when my ex was cheating, he still tried to be romantic and sleep with me. I do question Nichole Kessinger... How does someone like her change a man from a quiet, seemingly normal guy become a effing MONSTER. no wap is that good. We have seen many times people that their union becomes toxic to others and she very well could have known and encouraged him like... Don't let your wife do this to you, Chris be a man. Show her you won't be treated this way... Etc. Because he goes from a dominate woman to him being a dominant one? Doubt it. He just went from one woman who wore the pants to another. Plus, her entire phone was wiped. Hmmm... If you were just having an affair with him why delete everything from your phone and destroy evidence and then stop cooperating. A man that is willing to sleep with another woman in their bed at home... Is capable of anything. Bless these babies and I'm sorry these children had that evil monster of a dad. Glad to know they have to lock down the prison to move him because other inmates yell at him. Come on guards, just like Dahmer just forget to lock someone in their cell when Chris takes a shower. It will solve it all.

Haha I love the passion Laura! Had a chuckle when you were swearing! Your so damn right. But love it when you get mad. Definitely the case to get angry on. Poor babies. That poor wife. Such a tragedy

I think the reason they probably suggest the abused person and their family leave for the hotel and not the abuser is because the abuser would know where to go to find the family. If the family moves to a hotel, it is more difficult for them to discover where they are.

Love fraud is very common. This guy is a douche bag. Im not sure if shes much better though. She clearly admitted at the start her initial attraction was to his resources. The only difference is she admitted it.

I enjoyed this episode barring one comment by one of the ladies. sorry I cant remember her name. it bothered my when she questioned Brian's shock that John committed suicide. she seemingly thinks that because someone has threatened suicide that the people they mentioned it to shouldn't be shocked when they actually go through with it. It seems very understandable to me. if you talk to this person all the time and they are living and talking and doing things and planning things in the future, you dont expect them to kill themselves, even if they had said it and even wrote suicide notes. I mean if you shouldn't be shocked when they do go through with it then i guess you should be shocked when they go on living? come on.

episodes with Jess Hill just got too political insinuating abusive men mostly republican. lost all credibility. i know these hosts are all liberal, but you loose all credibility when you throw politics into the mix. here's a partial list of very influential liberal men who don't fit your preconceived notions- epstein, weinstein, Clinton, former sen. Kennedy, Chris Dodd, Joe biden, Bill richardson, sen menendez. and some of them w continue to face no scrutiny

The criminalizing of the victim makes me so angry. If he wasn't suspected of a horrible crime, the cops didn't know anything about George Floyd when they took him down and killed him. It doesn't matter any issues with law enforcement in the past. Cops aren't judge and jury. They are supposed to arrest and let courts decide. But, they take it upon themselves to kill people... Over a fake 20???really!?!?

I disagree about naming MINORS who ate charged with a crime. Also, sometimes they have to consider what this will do if they don't have DNA, or some hard proof to avoid wrongful convictions yet the named person is always considered guilty. These boys were coerced.

Police didn't break Meredith's door, her italian roomate's boyfriend did. And both of her italian roomates were questioned by the police of course. Also, Amanda calling Meredith's phones to check on her in reality meant 2 phone calls lasting few second, not enough to make phone ring maybe twice.

Love to watch you bias people who think because you went to school and think you learned something that makes you know so much more than the average person on the jury , especially after the fact that so many theories learned by people like you in school have been changed over time because better facts and information has been found and whole theories especially on human behavior has been completely thrown out , love to watch you mad because you didn’t get your way

That person who wrote in saying you were bias was dead on right , you say your not bias and then proceed to tell us you were a prosecutor a fbi guy , so obviously you can only see things from that prospective and yes I did here them talk about the way Jonny cochrun was dressed and f Lee baileys cowboy boots so for you people to act like this was a one sided deal is blatantly bias you are trying so hard to steer a narrative that is untrue , the defense is suppose to defend to the best of there ability and they did , you just don’t like the outcome , the prosecution is the first people to bring racism into the trial by putting a fifteen ranked prosecutor on the case just because he was black , so just so you know your coming across terribly bias
