In late 2017, Suzy Tidwell taped her husband, Hoyt, making his chicken and dumplings in his trademark overalls and posted it on Facebook. There were no expectations for the 28-minute video, which quickly went viral. To date, 71 year-old Hoyt Tidwell’s chicken and dumplings video has been viewed over 5 MILLION times on Facebook alone. Hoyt and Suzy started posting additional recipe videos, and before long, an unlikely celebrity was born. From their home kitchen south of Nashville, Tennessee, Hoyt and Suzy now post a weekly video offering viewers some country cookin’ and a dose of inspiration. The videos have developed an international fanbase, with over 20 million views to date. The videos typically feature Suzy behind the camera, admonishing Hoyt if he doesn't wash his hands, and instructing him to get a bigger bowl because he just can’t seem to make small batches of anything. Much like his old-fashioned southern recipes, Hoyt’s videos themselves are comfort food, reminding us of a simpler time and the magic that can be found around the family dinner table. Hoyt and Suzy (who once “won big” on the Newlywed Game) just celebrated their 50th anniversary. If you ask the happy couple about their long term goals, they are quick to point out that Hoyt’s Kitchen isn’t about cookbooks or view counts… but about bringing people together.  New this month… Hoyt’s Kitchen, Volume 2: Favorite Recipes from Hoyt, Family & Friends (The Cookbook Specialists). The all-new collection of recipes follows 2018’s Hoyt’s Kitchen: Favorite Recipes from Hoyt and Family. Both books are available now at HoytsKitchen.com.--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/ed-boston-podcast-network/support

Writing and recording music written from the human experience has long been a specialty of award-winning band, The Afters. Their deep catalog of songs connects people to one another, putting words to both the answered and unanswered prayers of the heart. But when it was time to write for their new album, Fear No More, band members Josh Havens, Jordan Mohilowski, Matt Fuqua and Dan Ostebo found themselves looking inward and leaning on each other in a brand-new way.“One thing I love about our band is we’re like brothers,” Havens shares. “We really are. We’ve been through a lot together over the years and those challenges have brought us even closer and strengthened that bond. We’re able to be really honest with each other. Through everything, we’re still good friends.”For Fear No More, the members dug deep, each desiring to make an album that truly reflected the inner-most parts of their own humanity, including the parts they wouldn’t have normally chosen to expose in such a public way. They wrote this new collection of songs for themselves, wrote messages they needed to hear, laying themselves bare in order to reach a new level of transparency in their songs. It took complete honesty with each other to allow the creative freedom to write complete honesty into their songs. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/ed-boston-podcast-network/support

Recording artist and MMA trainer Mike Lee has released an epic new music video for his single, THE HEAT. The song features the band VONDI, which is a Canadian-American music and production duo consisting of Stephen Von HeyKing and Cody Norris. Watch Mike Lee's THE HEAT music video: https://youtu.be/z6jmeOwMCQ8“THE HEAT is a fun song about establishing healthy boundaries in relationships,” explains Mike. While brainstorming video concepts, Mike and his wife, video producer Meesh Lee, were immediately drawn to the thought of doing a narrative about bullying. They teamed up with award-winning choreographer Richy Mon (www.richymon.com) to create the battle sequence, and then filmed the video on a playground in south Fort Wayne, Indiana, where Mike grew up playing basketball. Empowering others is a theme that runs throughout Mike’s life. When he isn’t on the road or writing music, he’s coaching at his boxing and MMA gym, located in Fort Wayne, Indiana (www.leebrothersmma.com). “For years, my uncle, brothers and I have coached fighters, but over the last year or so our gym has blown up. These days we help a wide range of folks, from little kids with their moms and dads, to high school and college students, looking to get fit and learn ninja moves. All I’m trying to do is look them in the eyes and teach them the stuff that works.”Since his debut EP in 2014, Mike has been noted for his humorous, yet deeply personal stage presence that spills over into his social media. From coast-to-coast you can catch Mike on tour, alongside his wife Meesh, and their drummer Ian Dunno. Mike has shared the stage with Andy Mineo, NF, Switchfoot, David Crowder, Chris Tomlin and more. Over the last five years, Mike has worked on records with Grammy and Dove Award-winning Nashville-based producers Seth Mosley, Ed Cash and Rusty Varenkamp. Currently, Mike is doing most of his writing back home in Indiana with producer/writer (and childhood friend) Landon Bailey. Several new singles are on deck to be released later this year. THE HEAT is available now at iTunes, Amazon and all major digital retailers. For more information, visit www.mikeleemusic.com.--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/ed-boston-podcast-network/support
