When talking about music, have you ever had someone ask, "Is it a Christian or secular band"? Does God really want us to create these categories where Christians have their own celebrities and goods and services?  Has anyone ever asked you, "how is your spiritual life"? What if our view of segmenting life and the things that we can enjoy into "Christian" and "secular" categories has actually done us a disservice?  David's Blog: www.IDoubtIt.Online Zach's Blog: www.ZachZienka.com

A few months ago, there was much conversation online around "Beef" on Netflix, which featured a moment where the character Danny Cho enters a church while the worship team leads the congregation in worship, and he is moved to tears. Zach and David had a discussion about this moment and how it has sparked scrutiny around worship music. Here is that conversation in podcast form. Join Zach and David for a thought-provoking discussion on whether worship music fosters genuine spiritual expression or if it can sometimes be a tool for emotional manipulation. Christian Nationalism is a conviction that America is inherently a nation built on Christian ethics and beliefs. This ideology is seen through combative methods of imposing selected “Christian ethics” onto the political stage by any means necessary. Christian Nationalism seems to be talked about more and more. Many conservative evangelicals are now even describing themselves and their vision for America in this way. “Is this how Jesus used power and influence?” “Is this how Jesus expects His followers to engage in our world?” “What is a healthy relationship of Christianity and politics, and what does this mean for Christ followers?” John 18 36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” Episode mentioned: Can I Say This At Church Podcast - Political Theology with Brad Jersak: https://www.canisaythisatchurch.com/listen/2019/7/22/88-political-theology-with-brad-jersak Resources Mentioned: Postcards from Babylon: The Church In American Exile https://amzn.to/3A6VYgn A Farewell to Mars: An Evangelical Pastor's Journey Toward the Biblical Gospel of Peace https://amzn.to/3SY8Qy3 Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation https://amzn.to/3weaOAm Christian Nationalism Drove These People Out of Their Churches https://www.vice.com/en/article/v7vew9/christian-nationalism-churches?utm_source=vicenewstwitter Zach Zienka’s Blog: https://zachzienka.com David Ruybalid’s Blog: https://davidruybalid.wordpress.com
