I'm honored to have been interviewed by Jan Bowen. She writes: "Sometimes the only distinction to find peace in life is by working from the inside. Chris Shea is a mental health therapist known for his work with addiction and recovery, a coach, campus minister, author, and podcaster who has found peace — now. Listen in to hear Chris share his path through the curves." #innerpeace #findingpeace #struggletofindpeace #JanBowen #ChrisShea #lifecoach #lifesjourney #podcastinterview #empowerment --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/on-finding-peace/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/on-finding-peace/support Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode I share our holiday message of peace. I talk about changing perspective on the holidays to discover the meaning of hope and love during this time of the year. This is not a rant against commercialism, it's a reflection on finding what is truly important to each of us in life. I share a brief story about St. Francis of Assisi and his response to the question of gathering material goods. We may not live in extreme poverty as he did, but his message rings true today.  As a free gift to all of our listeners, check out my booklet "A Spiritual Journey of Christmas". In this episode, Missy and Chris are tackling the concept of verbal processing. Communication is key to any healthy relationship, but how each person processes verbal communication affects the overall value of the communication. Is the difference gender related? Can we even ask that question today?  The hosts ponder the origins of verbal processing back to cave people and wonder if how we internally process verbal communication hasn't evolved too much over the millennia. Is there a right or wrong way to process? Is it a learned behavior from childhood?  The "answers" from the hosts aren't conclusive, but they agree that for communication to take place, each person needs to understand and respect the process of the other. Flexibility

Flexibility

2022-06-2125:35

In this episode, Chris and Missy talk about flexibility in life. How best can we daily be flexible and why even try? The simple answer: flexibility offers inner peace and less stress.  When we "go with the flow" instead of fighting against the current we reduce our stress since we are no longer striving to control that which we can't control in the first place. Flexibility has everything to do with letting go of control and getting out of our own way.  If you like this content please press like and share with your friends! In this episode, Missy and Chris explore the power of words, and how we can use them to change our lives for the better. Words are incredibly powerful. They can shape our perception of the world and ourselves, and influence the way we interact with others. Our self-talk – the things we say to ourselves inside our own heads – is particularly important, as it can have a big impact on how we feel about ourselves and our lives. Fortunately, we have the power to choose our self-talk. We can choose to focus on the positive or the negative. We can choose to believe in ourselves or to doubt ourselves. It’s up to us.  If you enjoy this content like and share it with your friends. In this episode, Missy and Chris are talking about staying grounded. Many of us feel overwhelmed by life and aren't sure what to do to again find our inner peace. We talk about ways that we maintain our peace when life is just too busy and chaotic. Missy shares her wisdom about "staying in my own lane" and Chris shares his approach of "not caring". Listen to find out what Chris means by that! The bottom line, the hosts agree that we need to learn to control what we can control while avoiding what we can't control.  If you like this content please like and share it with friends. Being emotionally available is not easy for everyone. In this episode, Missy and Chris talk about what it means to be emotionally available and why some of us struggle with this.  Emotions are our guidance system in life, yet the unknown of the future causes us anxiety, in turn causing us to close off emotionally. Missy and Chris talk about the emotional walls we put up, recognizing that walls both keep things out and keep things in. It's our responsibility, or "my response" to either wall off or share our emotions.  Missy reminds us that emotions are "energy in motion", challenging us to reflect on how we can change our behaviors, in action, to effect a healthy emotional response to life. There is no right or wrong when it comes to emotions, but Missy and Chris share a bit about themselves in the hope that you can learn from them and so create your own inner peace.  If you enjoy this content please share it with your friends and consider buying the creators a cup of coffee here (plus get extras and merch).
