It’s been four years since President Joe Biden and Former President Donald Trump have gone head-to-head. And on Thursday night, the incumbent and the former president faced off in the first presidential debate of 2024. The debate was held in Atlanta and hosted by CNN. Listen to the full debate here and visit msnbc.com for more coverage in the lead up to the election.
As a bonus for listeners, we’re sharing the first episode of a special series from “Why Is This Happening? The Chris Hayes Podcast,” called “WITHpod 2024: The Stakes.” For the first time since 1892, we have an election in which both candidates have presidential records. It’s a unique chance to take a hard look at what both Joe Biden and Donald Trump have actually done as president. Chris Hayes talks to experts about both candidates’ records on specific policy areas. This week, Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, policy director at the American Immigration Council, joins to unpack immigration policies under Trump vs. Biden, the state of the asylum system, and more. Follow and listen to the whole series: https://link.chtbl.com/withpod_tsfd
On Into America presents: Uncounted Millions: The Power of Reparations, award-winning MSNBC correspondent Trymaine Lee dives into one of today’s most pressing debates: reparations. Months ago, Trymaine discovered the little-known story of Gabriel Coakley and it blew his mind. In the midst of the Civil War, Coakley was among a handful of Black people who found a way to get compensated for slavery by the US government. On Uncounted Millions, Trymaine talks to Coakley’s descendants about how reparations forever changed their family’s trajectory. And as more cities and states consider the issue at a policy level, he imagines how reparations might shape the whole of Black America.  Listen to the first episode now. And follow the show: https://link.chtbl.com/iapum_fdlw
Debate guru Ron Klain joins Claire McCaskill and Jennifer Palmieri on their new podcast “How to Win 2024” to discuss the winners and losers of the 2nd GOP debate and what it could mean for President Biden’s re-election campaign. Plus, the House Republicans’ impeachment effort that voters want nothing to do with. Listen each week and click here to follow the show.
How do you win an unprecedented election that could see a criminally indicted ex-president take on the current Commander in Chief? How do you win crucial down-ballot races that will ultimately shape the power dynamics for whoever wins the White House? And how do you win over voters – of any party -- when mistrust in leadership is at an all-time high? Claire McCaskill and Jennifer Palmieri, are two of the most well-respected voices in American politics today and have some ideas. Listen to their new podcast “How to Win 2024” and follow the show: https://link.chtbl.com/htw_fdlw
As a bonus for listeners, we’re sharing the first episode of a new MSNBC podcast, “Velshi Banned Book Club,” an act of resistance against the epidemic of book banning. In each episode, a different author of a banned book joins Ali Velshi—including Margaret Atwood, Nikole Hannah-Jones, Laurie Halse Anderson and more—to talk about why their work is being targeted and about the literature itself. “Velshi Banned Book Club” is a series rooted in literary and cultural analysis and in the notion of reading as resistance. MSNBC legal analysts Andrew Weissmann and Mary McCord tell us what happened inside that Manhattan courtroom, what stood out to them in the pages of the indictment and what it all tells us about how District Attorney Alvin Bragg plans to build his case.
A Manhattan grand jury has voted to indict Donald Trump – setting a new precedent for holding American leaders accountable. But how does a prosecutor like Alvin Bragg actually convince a jury to convict a former president? MSNBC legal analysts Andrew Weissmann and Mary McCord tell us how prosecutors think about building a case against a former president.Listen to the first two episodes now and follow the series: https://link.chtbl.com/pdt_fd
How do you build a legal case when the defendant is a former president? MSNBC legal contributors Andrew Weissmann and Mary McCord have an idea. They’re two of the most well-respected and storied prosecutors in the country – and have prosecuted historic cases from Enron to the Benghazi attack. So, they’re the perfect people to tell us how a prosecutor -- from Alvin Bragg to Fani Willis to Jack Smith – might think about prosecuting a former president.

Why is the 2021 & this one is from 2024. Why is the word 'New' still on the card? Is it simply to make the buyer feel that they've got a new and better one.

CON'T 2 they want to create chaos in the election precincts to stop votes from being counted. I'm angry with all these people including the Nicole for not bringing this very serious scary issue out in the open publicly. which hopefully would help expedite this seriousness of this to the VPS campaign and to her ability to address it.

it appears that Claire Mccaskill as well as the rest of them didn't listen to Rachel maddow's podcast on Monday 7/27/24. Rachel laid out how Donald Trump was telling his supporters that they didn't need to vote that he didn't need their vote he had so many votes already. they have to listen to it to get the whole context of what she was saying. the Heritage fun has stationed 70 anti-election deniers in several States. so that they can be able to not have votes counted primarily in small cities.

Ms. Wallace has been rightly concerned over the media's obsession over the debate between President Biden and Mr. Trump. This substack discussion has carefully analyzed the whole fiasco, namely the concerted media and MAGA misinformation manipulation vs. the reality of President's willingness to push himself beyond reason to serve our country. If you do nothing else, read this excellent piece: SEND THIS TO EVERYONE! https://sethabramson.substack.com/p/we-now-know-what-really-happened.

Charlie Sykes' negativity is very damaging in this time when the choice is clear. After the Supreme Court's decisions, we now face the possibility of the end of Democracy. I shudder at the thought of that lying conman/rapist/felon who threw a 90 minute tantrum is somehow a better choice than Biden. Biden is honorable, vastly more experienced, more compassionate and with a clearer vision for our country. He has given his life to serving our country. Trump, the master grifter, is filled with hate

how can you replace Biden? When votes have already been cast. Seems undemocratic. Perhaps we should be honest the presidency is about more than one man. it always has been think back to Roosevelt, Nixon, and Regan. Even Bush and Obama would not have been who they were without the Administration. they put in place. Democrats get off you High Horse of perfection and get on with job. Focus on the reality of the problems before us. Who will solve them Biden or Trump?

I think it's unhinged, especially since he couldn't help blurting out the truth! Not having a clue as to the thread he was supposed to stick to? Probably lack of discipline but may be dementia.

Just think what could happen even with Trump not back in the White House. Trump would be privy to all the goings on due to the appointment of his lackeys to the Intelligence Committee. Every day I am concerned about Trump and his cult, wondering what the next threat, radical idea will be pushed upon us. Every. Day.
