On today’s episode we have Onyx Ammons, Founder of Karter L’ Rose Candle Company, a venture she began as a way to fulfill her personal desires because being a busy wife and mom of three is not an easy feat. As a health enthusiast Onyx became extremely passionate about creating clean and natural alternatives to the household items that are regularly used. After careful research she found that her favorite candle brands that made her home so cozy contained tons of chemicals and unnecessary additives. It then became her dream to launch a soy based candle company that was free from all dyes and harsh chemicals.  She wanted to start a company that was true to her holistic living and a venture the entire family could contribute towards. Onyx’s dream was finally birthed just a few months ago and now she operates this bustling business from her home. On today’s episode we have Iguehi James, CEO of Love Iguehi, an African inspired clothing brand for women. Iguehi not only holds it down as a solopreneur, but also as a wife and mom of a set of twins and six year old daughter. Iguehi is a proud Nigerian American, but as a child was embarrassed by her sun-kissed skin, broad nose, and hard to pronounce name. Today she infuses her culture into making comfortable and fashionable apparel using vibrant fabrics from the motherland. With the help of YouTube and a sewing machine given to her by her mother, Iguehi began sewing as a hobby and gained traction after friends continuously asked for a skirt of their own. After four years of sweat, blood, and tears Iguehi operates Love Iguehi on a full-time basis after taking a leap of faith by quitting her full time job to pursue this dream. In this episode she keeps it honest about how she loves herself, empowers her daughters, honors black culture, and maintains through the peaks and valleys of entrepreneurship. During the holiday season it’s so easy to get caught up in the “things”. As we approach Thanksgiving I thought bringing on my best friend since High School, Britianey Joesph, would be a fun treat for a “Friendsgiving” edition of the Dream ChaseHer podcast. With over 20 years of friendship between us we chatted about the value of friendship, rehearsed a few laughable moments that some how involves Roscoes Chicken and Waffles, and shared how we’ve been able to keep our friendship going as we have now lived in different cities for the majority of our friendship.
