After what has felt like a considerable draught in major Star Wars news this summer, this week's show is packed with rumors and speculation about The Rise of Skywalker, Rian Johnson's upcoming Star Wars film series, a possible (likely?) return to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for Ewan McGregor in a Disney + series, and our reactions to the Star Wars Resistance season two trailer. So much to cover and quite a lot to say about each topic in this extra-large episode of the Blockade Runner Podcast.Ryan's audio this week is coming from Skype as his local recording malfunctioned, so if you notice that it sounds a little off, that's why and we're working on it and will hopefully have things back to normal next week.Episode Links:Sith Trooper Merchandise Arriving September 1, Interesting Detail About Them RevealedRian Johnson on the Freedom of His ‘Star Wars’ Trilogy & ‘Knives Out'Star Wars': Ewan McGregor in Talks for an Obi-Wan Kenobi Series for Disney+ (Hollywood Reporter)Ewan McGregor May Return as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Disney + Series (Deadline)Resistance Season 2 TrailerShow Links:Email = blockaderunnerpodcast@gmail.comClick here to send us a voice message!TwitterInstagramYouTube--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/blockaderunnerpodcast/message
News for this week's show includes the launch of Star Wars Roll Out, John's thoughts on the recently released Star Wars: Myths and Fables, Ryan's review of the Age of Resistance special, and a rumored rerelease of all 10 saga films on blu ray this fall. We discuss all of The Phantom Menace's deleted scenes for our primary topic this week in the back half of the episode.Unfortunately we have some sound quality issues on this episode that we're not able to correct in post-production. It's listenable, but not representative of the usual sound quality level of the show. Next week should be back to normal.Episode Links:STAR WARS ROLL OUT, AN ADORABLE NEW SERIES OF ANIMATED SHORTS, BOUNCES TO THE SCREENAll Ten Star Wars Movies Being Re-Released on Blu-Ray In SeptemberThe Phantom Menace DVD Deleted Scenes IntroShow Links:Email = blockaderunnerpodcast@gmail.comTwitterInstagramYouTube--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/blockaderunnerpodcast/message
This week's episode features a look back at the first issue of Star Wars Insider magazine published in fall of 1994. We discuss the early years of the magazine and its transition from the Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine, some of our favorite merch in the Jawa Trader, and the qualities of the rare metal known as "pewter." Show Links:Email = blockaderunnerpodcast@gmail.comClick here to send us a voice message!TwitterInstagramYouTube--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/blockaderunnerpodcast/message
This year's San Diego Comic Con didn't feature a Rise of Skywalker panel, but there still ended up being quite a few fun Star Wars panels and announcements coming out of the show. We open up the show with some discussion of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Arts panel and Kevin Smith's story about a mysterious Episode IX set before spending the remainder of the episode breaking down the Hasbro and publishing panels. Not gonna lie, this episode ended up being a nightmare to finish and publish due to some unfortunate technology mishaps and as a result the sound had to be pulled straight from the Skype recording. The quality if noticeably lower than usual, but also still fine (in my opinion). Next week's episode should be back to our normal sound quality. Oh, and video is back too if you prefer to watch/listen through YouTube.Episode Links:Lucas Museum of Narrative Arts Updates5 Things We Learned From The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Panel (Star Wars Official Site)Kevin Smith's Comments on the Final Shot of TROS (via IGN)Hasbro Panel Rundown (via YakFace)SDCC 2019: MARVEL’S THE RISE OF KYLO RENREVEALED AND MORE HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE LUCASFILM PUBLISHING PANELShow Links:Email = blockaderunnerpodcast@gmail.comClick here to send us a voice message!TwitterInstagramAnchorYouTube--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/blockaderunnerpodcast/message
We kick this week's show off with some follow up on our Galaxy's Edge episode via some comments from our friend Jake and a look at Abigail Disney's criticism of the company's treatment of its park employees. The rest of the show is all about the recently-unveiled Sith troopers! We discuss the look, but more importantly, the name of these crimson villains and speculate about how they might fit into The Rise of Skywalker and exactly which Sith they may be working for... For those who watch the show on YouTube, we're experimenting with Google Hangouts alternatives (because Google is killing that platform at the end of this month) and unfortunately our first try didn't work out. We'll still post the audio to YouTube, but it'll just be a static image for this week. Hopefully we'll get the video side of things worked out for episode 114.Episode Links:Our Friend Jake's Comments On His Trip to Galaxy's Edge'I was so livid': Disney heiress visits theme park to see worker conditionsSEE THE NEW SITH TROOPER FROM STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER AT SDCC 2019Show Links:Email = blockaderunnerpodcast@gmail.comClick here to send us a voice message!TwitterInstagramYouTube--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/blockaderunnerpodcast/message
This week's episode focuses entirely on Galaxy's Edge (which is kind of weird since neither of us have been there), including what the numbers are saying about how popular the park and its merchandise are and how some bogus visitors are ripping stuff off and trying to sell it online. The second half of the show features a look at the first three issues of Marvel's Galaxy's Edge tie-in book and our thoughts on what we'd like to see from future tie-in material.Episode Links:Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Visitors Auctioning Stolen Disneyland ItemsDisneyland's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Crowds Smaller Than AnticipatedWho Would Pay $25,000 for a Droid at Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?
