In this episode of The Goods Podcast we chatted to Kresse Wesling of sustainable and luxury bag brand Elvis and Kresse, back in July. Tune in to hear all about how the brand was born from her love of waste and determination to solve one of these waste streams. Kresse explains how she fell in love with decommissioned fire hose and initially had no idea what she would do with it but she knew that the material was too good to die in landfill. We discuss the systemic problems within the fashion industry and she talks about how she felt compelled to act and create a business that did better. She’s super passionate about her cause and is a true example for the fashion industry that being a sustainable business within the space is possible. Grab your headphones, get comfy and get ready for your daily dose of inspo. Hope you enjoy listening to this one as much as we enjoyed recording it! Episode 1 of The Goods Podcast is with one of the UK's most loved environmentalists and one of the most inspiring figures in the sustainability movement, Sir Jonathon Porritt. Jonathon has had an incredible career, he was director of Friends of the Earth, A key member in the Green Party and founder of Forum For The Future a pioneering sustainable development organisation. He's also a patron and mentor for an incredible amount of organisations and environmentalists globally. More recently he’s announced that he’s stepping back to focus more heavily on activism and further amplifying the message of the urgency to act on climate change, using technology and methods that already exist. He’s also an author of multiple genuinely brilliant books which we talk about today, including ‘the world we made’ which was released in 2013 and his newest book Hope in Hell, in 2020. In this episode we also looked at his journey in how he’s got to become one of the most well-known figures in sustainability in the UK. We also take a look at the current state of sustainability, covering some pretty pressing issues, as well as the best way to communicate change and what actually needs to be done. We then closed off the podcast with some pretty wise predictions for the future from Jonathon! Now we recorded this one back in February 2020, a month or so before the COVID lockdown. It's a brilliant episode with nuggets of epicness spread throughout the recording, so sit back, relax and hear more about the incredible life of Sir Jonathon Porritt. The Goods Podcast is all about documenting people's journeys in doing good. But what is 'Good'?  To me the word Good means different things to different people, and we'll explore that in this podcast. The Goods Podcast will heavily weight in the category of social and environmental good in business, adventure and activism - giving both well known, and not so well known people a voice.  We'll be hearing from people who are leading the charge in positive social or environmental good, and I can promise they all have brilliant stories from past and present. Trust me on this one though, there's heaps of inspiration that comes with their wise stories.  The guests I’ll be interviewing also have a unique perspective on the future, and we'll explore elements of their predictions, whilst also looking at their lightbulb moments and influences through growing up and their careers. If you have have any thoughts, please get in touch - and thanks for joining me on this journey. Listen along, shape what good means to you and take that into your personal lives or workplace.  We would love a rating and feedback, so get in touch via @thegoodspodcast Instagram or communicate directly with me at joss@enviral.co.uk Bye world… and thanks for listening.
