The volcano’s effects extend far beyond the coasts of Hawai‘i Island. Listen to pro-athletes from Hawai‘i, like Philadelphia Eagles Linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill, who decided to support their communities no matter where their training and games took them. We also hear from two friends from Hawai‘i--one who moved to New York, and one who still lives here—about how the volcano’s destruction has touched their families and friends’ lives.

Darcie speaks with the mother of two Hanalei Elementary students who just returned to school. We also hear from Kauai County Councilmember Mason Chock, and community organizer Mehana Vaughn, about early recovery efforts.
Darcie talks with Dr. Kawika B. Winter - Director of Limahuli Garden & Preserve about how they are contributing to the recovery effort after many communities have been damaged by the storms of April 14 and 15.
