Hello everyone! Today's episode was very short but I wanted to just address current situations going on with my life and offer you all the opportunity to showcase your talents! I would have loved to add music to my episode, however. Copyright issues win over me posting it so I can't do it unless you all want me to advertise your music for you. Any talent can be advertised on my show. Just let me know! Thank you all for listening :)  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/free-reverie/support

Save The Children

2020-08-2625:02

Welcome back to another episode! 😁 With this episode, I will be discussing a little about the COVID-19 making it easier to catch child predators in the act. As sensitive as this topic is, it has to be addressed. We are actually doing something about those that kidnap and sell children for sex. It is disgusting  🤢 What is great, however, is that we are putting those guys away! 👏👏 We are making a change now that we are spreading the words, #SaveTheChildren all over social media. You have to agree that it feels pretty good to know that people who are doing this are being sentenced to prison. 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️ There will be more episodes on this particular topic. I will be digging deeper into it so look forward to that. Welcome to another episode of Free Reverie. Today, I will be discussing a sensitive topic. This topic is going to be hard to digest but it needs to be discussed to improve upon what the future can be rather than assuming everyone knows exactly what to do. We need to better educate and communicate when we are with others. As always, hope you enjoy this episode.  I am here if you ever need support, just know this.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/free-reverie/support

It is good to dream but it is better to make those goals come true and be happy. Do what Linda does!! She is an amazing woman with many talents. Most would dream of just one thing but she has many dreams and have made them her reality. Linda is an inspiration to us all! We could all learn a lot from her. In this episode, we discuss a lot so make sure to tune in and as always, enjoy!  Biography Linda Fisler is an award-winning contemporary master artist preferring to paint in a impressionist style. She has studied with Master Artists Kevin Macpherson, George Gallo, Carolyn Anderson, and through her interviews developed relationships with many master artists of today. Linda and Kevin launched Artist Mentors Online (AMO), where they provided lessons via the internet. Linda is also an award-winning author. She has written fiction and non-fiction books. Her “How to Paint From Brush to Palette Knives“ provides a step-by-step  instruction for painting with brushes and palette knives. However, Linda’s first love is writing fiction novels. Her Blind Series focuses on three characters, a female lawyer, an MI-6 agent, and a senator, who team up to become the change they want to see. The series asks the question: What if something drastic happen in the 1980’s that caused a different course in history? Would the event, depending on who leads and the choices they make, change the divisiveness we see today in the world? Linda has published four books (available in ebook and paperbacks) in this series; Blind Influence, Blind Persuasion, Blind Alliance, and Cloaked. Linda is also an instructor and mentor.  She teaches classes at the Middletown Arts Center, hosts workshops of other master artists, and provides online courses and mentoring via her Patreon site. Welcome to Season 3 of Free Reverie!! We will start off the season by speaking with Lisa Brozek. One day, she had this idea of writing a song in the perspective of her autistic son. To her surprise, this song became a hit. 💛 Anyways, it was never her intention of trying to become famous. Lisa wanted to express how her son felt in song because that is what he enjoys most, which is music. Anyone who knows someone who has a disability will absolutely love this piece. Lisa really exposed the truth that those with disabilities experience but aren't able to put down into words. She is a remarkable woman, for sure. 🧡 Not only does her son play the drums in the song but her daughter is also the singer. It seems as though this musical family will go far in life. Make sure to listen to the song and support raising awareness for those on the Autism Spectrum. With the help of Band Together Pittsburgh, the song is making a difference ❤️ Check out the music video and give it a thumbs up! 👍🏻 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWJkH9Fs3XM&feature=youtu.be "The purpose of Band Together Pittsburgh (a recognized 501 (c) 3 non profit organization) is to employ the power of music to engage youth on the autism spectrum and their families. 💚 Music has the proven capacity to enhance social interactions, build and develop communication skills, and improve motor/sensory, emotional, and academic/cognitive functioning. PLUS it’s FUN! 💙 Music brings us together. Fills our souls. And creates pathways to help those on the autism spectrum to build new skills. The founders of Band Together Pittsburgh have decades of experience in the music scene and in the non profit youth development world. 💜 That knowledge coupled with a science based approach provides us with a solid foundation to provide programming." Welcome to another episode! 🤗 I am always open to hearing new and upcoming music. I was introduced to Dartanyan Kane's music last year. His style is definitely unique, you will have to listen for yourself to understand that. Throughout the interview, I was also introduced to Gypsy Black. He is wanting to be a well-known DJ across the country. He also looks for unique and tasteful music to incorporate into his very own style. Both artists aspire to be like others in their own ways. Both artists are driven not to only be someone but be an inspiration to others. Both artists are free spirits determined to make change through music.  Throughout this episode, you will hear laughter as we all find common interests among one another. "How do you define 'taking care of yourself'? Create a new self-care practice today. Observe your comfort level when it comes to being good to yourself. These stories caught my eye because they were interesting, funny, sad and had a point for all to learn from. I kept this particular episode short, so enjoy.  I do plan on doing more videos for my channel. James Lee Baker

James Lee Baker

2019-07-3023:23

It has been a bit since the last episode. Breaks are needed when podcasting 💁‍♀️ With that being said, welcome to another episode!! The next musician that I get to speak with is James Lee Baker 🎸 We were talking before the show and he is a very accomplished individual. He devotes as much time as he can with his family before traveling to perform heartfelt music that will put a smile on your face, guaranteed. Time was limited as he had other things to accomplish for the night so this episode is going to be much shorter than the others. I hope you all enjoy!  😁  Background:  A classically trained musician, James Lee Baker fuses influences from acoustic singer-songwriters like David Mead, Ellis Paul, John Gorka, Gregory Alan Isakov, Bob Dylan, and Slaid Cleaves. He embraces open tunings to create an unconventional but welcoming sound and timbre to his playing. Trained briefly by Richard Gilewitz, a renowned fingerstyle guitar player, James Lee’s fingerstyle guitar playing is rich and melodic, pulling listeners into memorable motifs and atmospheres.  In 2017, Baker released a Texas-inspired full-length project called “Home Again.” Harnessing his experience in technology, Baker recruited talented studio session musicians, accessing performers from Los Angeles, Canada, The United Kingdom, and Denver. “Home Again” is a Country-flavored Americana album, rich with instrumentation like dobro, lap steel, fiddle, and harmonica. Current single, “Disappear for the Weekend” is receiving airplay and charting on the New Music Weekly and Airplay Today country charts.  The same is also true for his previous single, “Cowtown Blues.”  In March 2018, he released an EP of Folk/Americana songs called The Canadian River. The single of the same title placed #23 on the FolkDJ radio charts in April of 2018, and the song “Two Cageless Birds” went on to be selected for the John O’Hara Songwriting Performance Grant.  James has played at several prominent venues including the Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles, The Fox Theater in Boulder, and Swallow Hill and The Walnut Room in Denver. Welcome to another episode  😜 What is interesting about the month of June is that we get to celebrate Gay Pride  🏳️‍🌈 Everyone should be free to be who they want to be without judgments being made. We all live to be happy, right? That is what I thought but what I didn't think was how hard it was to actually be happy  😪 We all go through situations in life that makes it difficult to feel free, don't you agree? Anyways, my next guest, Shelly DeWitt, explains the struggles she went through to be where she is today. Not only has she escaped from what she once believed to be a "family" but she has found happiness through meeting her love, Mary. To answer your next question, yes, she is gay. Shelly is a proud lesbian and shares her story with the world in hopes to make others who feel as though they need to hide, come out and be free. Take a listen  👂🏻  to the episode and enjoy!  😀  Background:  Shelly was born and raised Mormon, got married young and had 7 kids, left the church, came out of the closet, and got divorced. Then she met the love of her life and together they started a podcast to unpack all of the trauma and damage and figure out what to do next.  Episode 71 is fun and exciting because we have Kristen Karma!!  😍 Her music is fun and exciting. I would see myself dancing to it in a club. You just let yourself go when listening to it. When speaking with her, you can truly understand that she has worked very hard to get to where she is today.  I am honored to have had the chance to speak to her and get to know more about who she is. It would be amazing to see her in person. Maybe someday we will meet and do a live podcast? I hope you all take the time to listen  👂🏻  to the episode and enjoy!  😀  Background:  Kristen Karma’s music career has already blossomed in the pop/dance scene in her hometown of Vancouver. Now located in Toronto, Kristen Karma is no stranger to the ever growing music industry. Karma not only wields a certificate in Audio Engineering from Hot Sole Music, but has studied voice with Judith Rabinovitch, who has worked with the likes of Avril Lavigne and Sarah McLachlan. Even though much of her formative years were devoted to a theoretical and exacting world of ballet lessons, Air Cadets, Military Marching Bands, and The Royal Conservatory of Music, some of the only evidence that remains of her past is the neon pink tulle that shoots out from under her black corset. It’s undeniable—Kristen Karma is a band nerd. But she is a band nerd who might punch you in the face for showing up late to practice. Her current single “Party Heroes” has her hard pounding electronic dance sound that is sure to bring your to your feet. The clever constructed lyrics and catchy beats combined heavy powerful guitar solos will leave you wanting more. Already garnering rave reviews with the infectious sounds throughout,  this sees Kristen moving into a new stage of her music career. Released in April 2019, the song reached the iTunes Canada Pop chart Top 20, peaking at #17. In 2013, Kristen Karma was selected as one of two performers to play the Lady Gaga Born This Way Ball After-party and open for Tour DJ/Lady Gaga BFF Lady Starlight in Vancouver. With rave reviews from her performance, she then went on to work with lil’Jon on her single “Sirens.” In 2017, she opened for Grammy Award Winner Akon  😮 in Guelph, Ontario on his Canadian Promo Tour. Hot off the heels of her performance, Kristen was then approached and selected to play the Lady Gaga – Joanne World Tour VIP After-party once again in Vancouver after Lady Gaga’s performance at Rogers Arena. Karma continues to wow audiences with her energetic live performances, and she does it all with a neon pink microphone in hand. 🎤   Follow her on her social media!   👉🏻 Facebook  👉🏻 Twitter  👉🏻 Instagram Check out her website too!  www.kristenkarma.com   👏🏼 Shout out to MTS for making this possible. Episode 69 is another musical episode, however. The music that we will learn about is written and played by Brady Novotny. His unique sound creates emotions that you would only expect from those that sing a song. A lot of his music is straight instrumental. His music is completely hypnotic. It is almost like you are being transported into another world...okay, that might be too much. You are just brought to another level with hearing music played without voices being heard. What is amazing to also know is that his wife supports his music career as well as participates in singing. Her angelic voice gives emphasis as to what message he is telling his listeners. His music tells all about who he is and where he comes from, just like any other artist out there. It is just how he goes about it is what I am intrigued by. Want to know more? Take a listen and enjoy!  Background:    Brady Novotny started playing the guitar at the age of 10. Determined to be a world class guitarist, he left his first guitar lesson with his instructor telling him basically to give it up now.  Thus he was introduced to criticism and disappointment early in his endeavor. Nevertheless, Brady heard a guitar player that would motivate him to push all that aside and re-energize his passion to continue; that guitar player was Randy Rhoads.  Brady soon fell in love with classical and melodic guitar playing.  Brady practiced restlessly learning everything from classical pieces, melodic and virtuosic solos from 80's guitar heroes, to jazz fusion.   Brady loved the guitar, and truly, that has been his passion.  He attended Berklee College of Music for a little time.  At the age of 19, he was asked to teach summer guitar workshop at Duquesne University.  As life often happens, however, Brady got burned out and went back to school and received his masters in Psychology. Yep, that's right -- Psychology.  But the passion is back and stronger than ever, plus it never hurts to have some money! Brady set out to do an instrumental project that would have his listeners singing the haunting melodies while holding their attention by uniquely placed guitar virtuosity and dynamic rhythms creating a fusion of rock, flamenco, and jazz.  His love for a variety of musical styles led him to study under many teachers in his life.  Brady started out playing Classical guitar at the age of 10.  Ever since then, Brady has had a strong affection for nylon string guitar sound. Ultimately, this led him to study Flamenco guitar. He immediately fell in love with the passion, virtuosity and rhythm of this style.  The shred of the 80’s was one of his main influences and guilty pleasures, while Jazz was a big influence on Brady’s chordal choices and song color.    Brady has a wide range of experience in the music business. His experience ranges from the Pittsburgh rock scene to national tours.  He has worked as a Pittsburgh session guitarist, Worship leader, and guitarist at several mega churches. He has also taught guitar at clinics and universities.   His 2019 release with MTS Management Group/MTS Records is “Passions Collide” featuring the lead single, “Redemption’s Cry.” The song, featuring a hauntingly beautiful vocal from Brady’s wife, Jennifer, is currently charting on the Airplay Today national radio charts.
