Description

Welcome to Real Community Talks where we meet with micro-level influencer's doing macro-level things. The idea behind RCT is that if one on one conversation's have the power to affect someone's future trajectory, why not make those conversation's accessible to all?
I meet with some of my favourite community influencers including creators, artists, public servants, non-profit workers, entrepreneurs, motivational speakers and more so that you can hear about their journey/process in hopes to inspire yours. The stories you hear are not necessarily formula's for success but examples of individuals who are making their dreams possible despite obstacles. I firmly believe that everyone has a unique story that could potentially change someone's entire perspective on their circumstance.
Enjoy the show!

One of the more socially conscious and dopest artists/lyricists, Noyz, joins us for the LAST guest episode of Season 1 of Real Community Talks! If Noyz isn't delivering insane bars at a live event or in the studio it's because he is either at work as a Concurrent Disorders Counsellor & Case Manager or he's co-hosting an episode of the Immigrant Hustle Podcast. Harmanjit Khakh cannot be described by a traditional title because he prefers to be defined as someone whose purpose is to exude, live and spread positivity. Apart from being a dope/talented individual, Harman places more of an emphasis on understanding your emotional intelligence, and realizing that what you give power to affects the outcome of your day. Harman's enlightened thinking and desire to help people caused him to pursue his current program at McMaster University in Addictions Education with a focus on Psychological Counselling in hopes to become a licensed counsellor in the near future. Born in Etobicoke, Ontario but raised in Brampton, Harman was drawn to sports which not only allowed him to be a diverse athlete, but more importantly taught him about discipline, sacrifice, and our will/capacity as individuals. He believes that one should apply the same mentality given to sports in conquering life’s daily battles. Suffering a shoulder injury, Harman unlike most people views this as a positive experience because everything that followed, such as his degree choice, his improved emotional well-being, and his outlook on life, were due to something negative just being soil for seeds of positivity. Among many other things Harman is an influencer, a communicator, a sport enthusiast, an adamant rap enthusiast, a former Pearson International Airport worker, a volunteer with PCHS and Sikh heritage Month, and one of the most positive people I've met. On this episode we talk about realizing your emotional intelligence, how perspective can turn negativity into positivity, how the modern education system is failing students, and the importance of trusting your age. Fly By Design made headlines when both the Huffington Post and the NBA reached out to him when he released Playoff graphics during the 2016 NBA Playoffs. Fly By Design would hit another milestone when he released the "Canada has been great" hat line, a play on Donald Trump's "Make America great again" hats which caught the eye of the 6dad himself, Norm Kelly who rocked his gear on IG. Born in Mississauga but later moving to Malton, Sheldon was a business man from a young age where he would bring a clip board to school to take gear orders from his friends and using a Chinese supplier for gear ranging from Roca Wear gear to snap back fitted. From there, he started a custom clothing business in his basement from the ground up where he taught himself Photoshop and illustrator. Sheldon is a huge advocate on being self-taught as he dropped out of his child and youth worker program in year 2 of 3 to pursue his passions full time. Having worked multiple factory jobs to make ends meet to eventually working with a clothing company in Kensington Market, Sheldon desired to have his own store and be his own boss. It was then when he decided to go all in and purchase a spot at Westwood Square (formerly Westwood Mall) in Malton where it all started. Since launch day, Fly By Design has continued to reach milestone after milestone and show youth that it is possible to turn your dreams into reality. Today Sheldon's biggest inspiration is his son Elijah who is the catalyst of his motivation to grind daily.
