1. narcissistic shame denying shame accusing and blaming others 2. avoiding shame withdrawn people socially anxious people stage fright not doing things with the possibility of maki a mistake and embarrassing yourself 3. control shame self deprecation make fun of themselves before anyone else 4. listen to shame and try to learn from it. disowning the criticism you receive at work and thinking about totally changing your career. shame can be the result of (childhood) trauma. it can also be the result of being sloppy and some other reasons not related necessarily to trauma. remember that everyone feels shame at some level. the antidote to shame is building pride. setting (realistic and achievable) goals and achieving them is a good way to building pride. it is easier said than done, however. feeling shame because of feeling shame is also a trap we should be careful of. Dr. Joseph Burgo's book is highly recommended.
