This week we talked to our good friend, John Potess - a talented developer, sound engineer, and entrepreneur. After getting out of school and working for local agencies, John decided that there must be something better than the stress of the 9-to-5, and decided to go contract while taking the opportunity to travel with his wife. With that, John was able to prioritize his time, working on passion projects, and even now moving to the beautiful country of Portugal. John tells us about some of the projects he's working on, and gives tips on how you too can become a digital nomad. https://thepodcastcreative.com https://www.facebook.com/thepodcastcreative https://positivetechjobs.com https://gitcontacts.com https://johnpotess.com Book recommendation: Company of 1 john@thepodcastcreative.com --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/techmilldenton/support

Juli James never thought playing 80 hours of Zelda would turn into a bullet point on her resume. With a background in journalism, Juli treaded a decision to either focus on her journalism career or going into academics. Of course, then her and her colleagues received a grant to develop a game engine for journalists while moving to Texas which they eventually turned into a new company, Playable Media. Juli is also a big advocate to support and empower women in technology by leading the local Denton chapter for Women Who Code through regular workshops and meetups.
