For many years Tasneem personally struggled with feeling the love when it came to makeup especially when finding the perfect lipstick shade, for some reason if you're 2 shades darker than "almond" you're going to face nightmare nudes and off-tone reds. Having had enough of being left out of the commercial beauty industry, Tasneem decided to create her very own custom lipsticks, with shades carefully crafted to suit not only her skin tone but also a variety of complexions! Being a third-generation South Asian woman living in a Western society Tasneem wanted to foster a brand that acknowledges and celebrates her personal cultural background along with a multitude of backgrounds. For too long brands and society have happily utilised people or colour for their appearance/aesthetic but not given them a voice/identity or even considered them in the development process of creating their beauty products. Tasneem’s personal cultural upbringing has defined the person she is today, from appearance, mindset, interaction, and character. So, she is making it a KEY focus for TASNEEM Cosmetics to unify Beauty, Culture, AND Colours! Talking about the education we should be searching for to better show up for all cultures, the work that needs to be done from top down to represent every person that walks through our doors in our marketing campaigns and very generously sharing her own personal stories with the lack of inclusion she felt growing up. You can find more about Tasneem and the range online or on Instagram Making today's episode possible is Murad Skincare Australia. Dr Clara Hurst graduated as a dentist from King’s College London Medical and Dental School in 2005. Evette is a skin expert, to put it bluntly! She had 10 years of experience under her belt specialising in IPL, medical-grade skin peeling, microdermabrasion, skin analysis, brow shaping and make-up, as well as teaching beauty therapy before she started Esmi Skin Minerals in 2017. Evette identified an opportunity in the market for an Australian-made mineral foundation that had additional treatment benefits. Cue the inaugural product - the Liquid Mineral Foundation, which still has a cult following today. From there, the range has grown to include a comprehensive line of skincare to support customers from cleansing through right through to the foundation. From understanding your passion for the brand before building it, aligning your purpose with your people and everything in between, Evette and Tamara for Beaute Industrie. To say this year has been a wild one is an understatement. We’ve had bushfires, a global pandemic, business closures months on end and to round it out Australia has plummeted into a recession. Though we could easily sit back and ask ourselves, why should we bother, it's important that we take this year and see it for what it is, an opportunity. An opportunity to pause, to be present, to reignite our passion and to press play on the things that truly do fill our cup. This year has reconfirmed for Tamara the importance of community and collaboration in our industry and when putting the call out for some inspiring people in our industry to come together these incredible four women put their hands up. Vanessa Main of Loft INC, Brigitte Benge of Cream Solutions, Faye Murray of Your Coach and Lisa Conway of The Zing Project joined Tamara in a live panel session to provide hope, clarity, strength and unity for the professional beauty industry. My guest today is Rachel Evans of RE.Connection Project. Rachel and I connected at a recent photoshoot for a Brisbane Women in Business Magazine where we chatted all things women in business, in particular, busy women in busy businesses - and I thought what better time to publish this episode than now when you’ve all had your most busy period and are hopefully spending a little rest and recharge over the Summer holidays and are refilling your cup. Rachel is an exercise physiologist, a keynote speaker and someone who so beautifully and simply talks about moving your body and mastering your mindset to focus on the calm and clarity which we so need to continue to run our businesses at the capacity which they’re required to run. The conversation takes us through looking internally at our bodies, the people who surround us and also the loneliness that can be associated with business. My cheeky cat tigerlily felt very passionate about rest and reconnection, and chimed in with a few meows here and there, so you can hear her opinion on the piece if you listen carefully. Today’s guest you may have seen across social media as she has hundreds of photos of therapists holding up certificates after completing their skin training courses, it’s Lia Trebilcock from Skin Education International, a guest who has been requested to feature on the podcast many times by you all, so i am beyond thrilled I could bring this conversation to light. Lia Trebilcock has been a leader in the skin industry for over 14 years now starting out as a therapist and along the way she has owned her own skin clinic and has progressed into national educational roles for incredible companies such as InSkin Cosmedics and Jurlique and also studied Naturopathic Nutrition throughout her career. What I love about Lia so much is that, like us, Lia is an independent educator who is non affiliated with any one particular brand. Using a combination of nutritional support, professional treatments and home care advice to create healthy, vibrant and balanced skins, Lia now travels the country and beyond to help therapists, like you, treat their clients skin concerns one skin at a time. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/beautebyabic/message

Today’s guest is Kate Taylor from Injex Clinics. Kate came to my call out in our Facebook group where I mentioned a few podcast guests had cancelled and I was searching for a story to share for you all. While Kate didn’t think she had much of a story to share, she told me about her sister being fired for mentioning she wanted a clinic of her own one day, their current business being burnt down and reopened in just 48 hours and to top it all off the incredible awards they continue to win not only in the beauty industry but also overall status - which is very much a story worth sharing in my eyes! Kate and her sister Emma run a 9 room advanced skin and injectable clinic with a team of 19 and i’m keen to share with you just how they do it on today's conversation. Today I am speaking with Emily Harper, A kick ass business woman and a dear friend of mine and someone who I have turned to for many words of advice throughout our friendship, in fact most of what you see of beaute industrie has probably come about from a conversation emily and i have had together. Emily Harper has accomplished many incredible things in her time in the industry, she owns a Brazilian Butterfly franchise in the south eastern suburbs of melbourne, is a qualified cosmetic tattoo artists and is a mum of three to two boys liam and lenny and daughter lila. I wanted to shine a spotlight on mums in business in this episode as Emily and I have a raw conversation about the business of the beauty industry when you’ve got a family to look after, the guilt that it takes to be away from your children in order to provide for them and talking a look at the lighter side of life to get you through to your dreams. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/beautebyabic/message
