Description

Welcome to my podcast, 'As You Are': a space for passionate conversations, delving into what makes people who they are. I wanted to open up a discussion on various topics with individuals that may inspire others. Whether it be growing into adulthood and motherhood, or how much that one Smashing Pumpkins record changed your life, I wanted to explore and discuss all these things that make us who we are.

Ending season two with the UK blogging queen, Lydia Elise Millen [@lydiaemillen]. Recorded in the comfort of her home, we chat about what she's been up to thus far this year, starting her YouTube platform after years on IG [and successfully killing it within months] working with brands, and her thoughts on dyslexia & her own blogging style...Let's do this.
Sometimes, you have the joy of meeting with someone you totally click with: Sam [@ssssamanthaa] is one of those joyous people for me. We 'met' on IG last summer, I proposed [we'll get into that] & as she was in London for a couple of days this Feb, all dreams came true when she said yes to my podcast invitation.  Sam basically grew into adulthood online - having started her IG & YT age 19. She somewhat knowingly saw the potential of IG, and within a year of dedication to social media, had amassed one million followers. We talk about the ups and downs of the industry, her life and role within it, the importance of knowing what keeps you sane...and a little progress on our upcoming wedding. She's a true gem.
Ever bought detox tea or seen it endorsed on Instagram? Lucy [@thefashionfitnessfoodie] is here to help weed out such marketing bs. As a now 'full-time influencer' (or even - 'freelancer') Lucy's content focuses on honesty within the fitness world, and educating her audience on everything that encompasses fitness & food. On this episode, we chat about agency signing and the impact it has had for her (we're both with Sixteenth) the impact of having a following, and, of course, the fitness world.
We're back for the second half of season two: I am v.stoked to have Rachel Pitman as my first guest. Rachel & I met following a chat I had with Lucie [ep.009] regarding my desire for freckle tattoos. I went to see Rachel, & we ended up having some deep & engrossing chats - so naturally I invited her to join me here. Today, we talk about the process of cosmetic tattooing, there's a deep conversation regarding Rachel's personal experience with cosmetic surgery, and growing into womanhood. Really enjoyed this one - hope you guys do, too.  P.S apologies for the background noise towards the end - some peeps getting v.into their office meetings.
Finally: a full-on, tattoo chat. Today's ep. is with Toby [@tattoosbytoby] who works at Seven Doors in London...we pretty much just talk tattoos. How he fell in love with them, ended up as a tattoo artist, his experience in the industry & advice for future tattooers. If you're into tattoos, or are curious about them & the industry - hopefully you'll be into it...Let's do this.
Carly has come up in conversation from a few people I love in this industry [Kyle Galvin, Vic of In The Frow] & it wasn't until she shouted me out on IG that I put 2+2 together as to who Carly is. I've said this kinda thing before, but sometimes I feel you can get a great aura off someone's IG, and Carly totally has that nailed. At 36 weeks pregnant recording this, we naturally talk a bunch about pregnancy, motherhood & parenting, alongside Carly's journey into YouTube, personal training & fitness. I bloody loved recording this - hope you enjoy listening just as much. Get that kettle on.
P&Co are a company I've known about for years, thanks to the powers of IG. I sat down with Adison Clark, one of the founders of this UK independent, to chat all things small business: from how P&Co formed, to major challenges faced along the way, to aspirations for the brand's future.
Jess [@sunbeamsjess] & I met in September for a trip with Maison Margiela to Paris Fashion Week. Jess has been immersed in the blogging/IG/YT life for around 8 years, & just finished her masters at university. We go off on a bunch of tangents today - from YouTube trolls & negativity, to personal style & fashion, to university life.
Oh man, I'm so stoked to be back & release the first episode of season two. We're kicking things off with a hell of a passionate conversation with Yungblud. He's a songwriter from the UK, with a lot to say. On this episode, we chat about how he started in the music industry, growing up and finding his passions, and a lady named Marge with a bunch of cats. It's a good one. Get the kettle on & let's go.
For the 2nd instalment w/ Maison Margiela & the launch of 'Mutiny', we've got a Q&A with questions sent in from you guys.  Also: stoked to say we're coming back for season two; Nov 13th...Mark it.
Something a little different for today's episode. Not only did we film this episode in partnership with Maison Margiela's new fragrance, Mutiny, but we also had a more structured chat about what mutiny means to us - such as destroying archaic ideas of motherhood, teenage rebellion, and being yourself...tune in & be sure to head over to IGTV to watch the episode, & leave a question for part II.
It's happened guys. We're at the end of season one. Who better to end the first season with than my husband - Anton. Are you guys ready for this?! Ha. We've been together almost 12 years...so, as you can imagine, know each other pretty well. Today, we back track to Anton's youth, to discuss him finding hardcore punk music & being in bands. We delve into our relationship, how we met, how we think we make it work, how we've found parenting...tbh, there's a lot of subjects bounced around. We recorded this at our home, by our friend Jamie (TY) as we couldn't make London scheduling work to record. I was in pyjamas with candles lit around the room...it was pretty damn cosy. So, get cosy too; have a listen & can't wait to see you guys again for season 2.
Danny is the head of Sixteenth Talent - the influencer agency I am signed with. At the bright young age of 23, Danny saw a gap in the market and started his own agency - pretty impressive. On this episode, we chat about how he became immersed in the world of Instagram, YouTube and social media; our thoughts on university, establishing & growing his own company, and the somewhat dreaded Instagram algorithm...Enjoy.
Kyle is a freelancer photographer. We met a couple of months ago on a photoshoot for Blogosphere magazine: it was the hottest day of the year (thus far) & we were shooting in a boiling hot studio in East London. The moment Kyle walked in the room, I loved him. He has a real PMA vibe; full of chat and banter. On this episode, we chat about his love of photography, his freelancing career & how he built it up, and the influencer world.
Lucie and I met 2 years ago when she tattooed my brows - and changed my life. No longer do I rely on my 10 (lol) eyebrow hairs. On today's episode, we discuss tattoos & cosmetic tattooing (naturally) Playboy (yup) parenting, and drugs. Actually, we discuss so many things - I can't summarise it all here. It was such an honest & open chat. We went out for lunch after & let it continue... Get comfy, get a cuppa, enjoy.
Back in January, when I went full-time-blogger, I was invited to a Cult Beauty retreat - and this is where I met Ruth. I loved her no BS sorta vibe, and I felt she didn't judge me for being so new to the industry - it can be a hard world. On today's episode, we chat about all things blogging - how Ruth started out, how the industry has changed, and securing a future in it... Get comfy.
Charly & I met at a Quay Sunglasses event, earlier in the year - if I recall correctly, we bonded over book chats & J.D.Salinger. Fast forward a couple of months and her first poetry book has been published: 'She Must Be Mad'. Charly & I sat down to talk about her book (which, by the way, is awesome) poetry and her writing process, growing up, and mental health - amongst other things. Hope you enjoy listening as much as i enjoyed having a great chat with Charly.
We're wrapping up the 1st half of season 1 with a Q&A. Over on Instagram (@sammijefcoate), I asked you guys to send in questions, and I answered a bunch w/ help from the lovely Rach. We'll be back on August 14th. CAN'T WAIT.
On today's episode, which was actually recorded only a few hours ago in Soho - I chat with rapper, songwriter & documentarian Professor Green. We delve into his youth - growing up on an estate in Hackney - getting into music, his own influences, and tattoos (we both have a few) So stoked he said yes to this - hope you guys enjoy it.
Making jewellery for the likes of Maiden & Metallica are standard days for The Great Frog. In this episode, I chat with Reino, the owner of London's finest, most awesome jewellery store, The Great Frog. We discuss how he took on his father's business, collaborated with metal's top bands, and ended up in a limo with Lemmy. As you do. Enjoy.
