Have there been times in your life you feel food is the enemy in your battle to get fit and lose those extra pounds? What if you could make a Peace trEATy with food? We love food! It’s nourishing, vital and of course, enjoyed in so many ways! So, let’s make peace with and sense of this important part of our lives once and for all!Join us for an empowering episode as guest, Todd Nyholm, author of “Ah, Food, Why Do You Trouble My So Much?” shares why food isn’t the enemy in your battle to lose weight and why you don’t need another diet… but instead, you need your food to work for you, rather than against you. As a somatic therapist and holistic educator, Nyholm helps people discover how to reprogram their perception about food, nutrition and most importantly, themselves. He reminds us that diets aren’t one size fits all and often are not connected to one’s willpower. Nyholm says diets fail because people have not changed the underlying mental, emotional and physical programming that drives their behavior. Discover why it’s important to pull back the layers of why we do what we do when it comes to food and drink and in terms of “feeding” our lives, including habits and motivations from all the way back to when we were kids! Nyholm’s book isn’t a book about diets. It’s a book about discovering and working with your relationship with food in real time. For many, the subject of food and eating has left knots of emotional wounds. But through a series of questions and answers, readers are able to discover a lot of insight into the reasons behind their food behaviors. And with the answers revealed, success can certainly follow! In this episode of Aging GreatFULLy, we combat PAIN like never before because if we’re going to get in the full light of living our best life now, we don’t want pain to impede our best of plans. And while pain definitely can be a quality-of-life spoiler, not all pain is bad. Join this amazing conversation with special guest David E. Frost, a NFPT Certified Master Fitness Trainer, rowing Coach and award-winning adjunct professor, as we take a deep dive into this topic that impacts most of us and certainly more so as we grow older. Dave helps us kick pain not only in the pASSt -- but in some cases, perhaps bid it farewell. Together, we'll discover the top five chronic PAIN’s experienced by older adults, including what we can do to prevent, remediate, or mitigate some of the effects, the key differences between acute and chronic pain, the two dimensions of pain, how pain subjectively and objectively changes as we age, and surprisingly, even some potential benefits of pain. He reminds us there is so much we can do to not only make sense of our pain, but to take charge of it. From sensible footwear, smart phones, intimacy, sleep, posture, too much sitting, diet, exercise, controlling stress, and many other choices well within our command, we can absolutely kick much of our pain in the pASSt!In a world of polypharmacy, we discuss viable alternatives to painkillers, NSAIDS, and other popular prescriptions, and how our bodies have their own internal storehouse of pain relievers, otherwise known as oxytocin. And of course, it wouldn’t be the Aging GreatFULLy show if we didn’t discuss the importance of attitude, gratitude and happiness and the essential role they play regarding our experience with pain and positive aging. Dave Frost is passionate about adding life to our years, and doing so as pain free as possible. As author of Kaboomer: Thriving and Striving Into Your Nineties, he is also Founder and leads Well Past Forty LLC, to actively promote both wellness and fitness for athletes of all ages and abilities. It's finally here, happy New Year 2021! There’s so much to celebrate and this year the focus is on YOU! But instead of making a long list of New Year’s resolutions, this year, we’re doing something different on the Aging GreatFULLy show. Don’t miss this power-hour of enlightYOUment, as we welcome returning guest, Brendon Watt, Speaker and Best-Selling author of Relationships: Are You Sure You Want One, for a conversation on how anyone can reinvent themselves, how to end self-sabotage for good and even how to come back from rock bottom! So, this year, we’re not going to make grandiose and lofty goals only to put ourselves under undue pressure of a pass / failure come March. Nor will we sign up to subject ourselves to the stress each day of having not been “good enough” and get caught up in that underachievement cycle that leads to self-sabotage day after day and often goes on for years—or even a lifetime. But instead, this year, we’re choosing New Year's ResoYOUtions. ResoYOUtions puts us in the driver’s seat of our own lives. ResoYOUtions are about personal empowerment … as we embrace reinventing what already exists. Accepting the awesome us that is; and deciding to make some positive improvements through asking ourselves the right questions. But the most important part of New Year's resoYOUtions is the answers we reveal to those questions we’ll be asking ourselves. Brendon shares that when we go to questioning, and start making different choices, the answers begin to appear. As Brendon Watt shares, often our life has been the culmination of other people’s expectations and until we stop living out of other people’s hopes and aspirations for us and get real about what we truly want, we are challenged in finding true happiness. Having himself been in a place of rock bottom, and knowing he had to make a change, Brendon understands first hand what it is like to feel hopeless and seek change. A powerful show and perfect one to begin the New Year! If you want to be inspired as we begin 2021, this is a must-listen episode giving you the tools to create change and the life you want! Brendon uses his experiences to lead others to success, inspiring people to know they are just one choice away from change. You can connect with Brendon at If you enjoy this episode, please share it with your friends and family or leave us a positive show review on your favorite platform! From a very young age we are very impressionable and we carry those experiences forward as we grow older. Depending on our circumstances, and the way we interpret them, that can help or hinder the way encounter life as adults. Add a dose of expectations to the mix and we just might have a recipe for disappointment. Enter Rewire expert, Bob Doyle to the rescue! Join this fascinating conversation as we welcome special guest Bob Doyle, who was a featured thought leader in the world-wide phenomenon film, The Secret, and the recently released film, How Thoughts Become Things, as we talk about how rewiring actually works, and even more exciting how the things you want most in life begin to show up and manifest. And we also talk about how our lens on life can get foggy and distorted over time and what we can do to clear things up. Bob shares the important role of mindfulness and gratitude as well as the powerful impact of negativity. More recently, Bob’s attention has shifted from the metaphysical aspects of Law of Attraction or “reality creation” process, to a more grounded and biological look at what controls our experiences…our brain. Bob believes that an understanding of how our brain is processing our experience of reality empowers us to create NEW realities with a simple decision – and you’re not required to believe any “law of attraction” ideas if you’re not comfortable with metaphysical conversations. This is a perfect conversation as we bring the year 2020 to a close and embark on the coming year and envision all we wish to create moving forward. If you have wishes, aspirations or a life you wish to create, this show is a must listen as we talk about a “no-genie needed” wish fulfillment and manifestation kind of living your be life now! And we will celebrate light, love and learn how to find our way back living after experiencing loss as we explore in depth the book, Leave Your Light On: The Musical Mantra Left Behind by an Illuminating Spirit, by Shelley Buck & Ryder Buck with Kathy Curtis. Our guest, Shelley Buck moved to California after college to follow her dream of working for Disney. It was there she met and fell in love with her husband, Chris, who worked in Animation. After they married and had their first child, Ryder, she stayed home to be a full-time mom to him and the two brothers who followed. Shelley is a storyteller and artist which she expresses through her original jewelry at Shelley shares her journey of having a child diagnosed with cancer, what it was like to experience that and then to suffer the most unimaginable loss. But her story is one that brings a lifeline to others and some essential messages for those who have ever been in the darkness. And that is, how exploring the light that our loved ones leave behind can be the bridge between that light and our own healing. Ryder Buck lived a short but charmed life west coast, where he fell in and out of love, and formed an indie band, Ryder Buck & the Breakers, that made waves all across the LA area. After a 9-month battle with cancer, Ryder emerged disease-free and fearlessly followed his dreams of changing people’s lives through his music. When tragedy met him on a dark highway, the light he had so fiercely protected throughout his life became limitless. His words and songs continue to carry that light forward. Ryder received the Flame of Hope Award (posthumously) from a local cancer facility where he and his band played for cancer survivors. Ryder’s dad, Chris Buck, is the producer of the film, Frozen and Frozen 2. Ryder became the inspiration for a new character in Frozen 2 and for one of the films songs.
