The following talk was given by @missioeric. Having served for years in college ministries, @missioeric completed a doctorate in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Seminary around making support raising more equitable. This talk is a MUST LISTEN, and something every ministry should implement immediately, even if they make no other changes to support raising. We must move away from measuring the amount of money being raised to measuring the effort that staff are putting in. Anything less than this can border on spiritual abuse. In 2019 we held our first "Future of Support Raising" Conference in Chicago. The following talk was given by Barnabas Lin. Barnabas is on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and had been serving in the Chicago area.   Barnabas spoke about the need for empathy and proximity when it comes to pursuing the future of support raising. His analogy of "spiritual leprosy" had a profound affect on me and the way that I view change. I think you'll be challenged by what Barnabas shared.  In early 2019 we held the first Future of Support Raising conference at the Agape Center in Chicago. Over 100 ministry leaders from around the country gathered to explore together how we might make funding mission more equitable. For two days we learned, lamented, dialogued and dreamed for the future of support raising. This episode of the podcast is a recording from that conference. In this episode you'll hear me share my own journey of becoming passionate about the future of support raising, how that led me to do doctoral research, and what I believe should be the foundations of any change efforts: Covenant-with-God and Adaptive Leadership.
