We start off this wee by giving listener Adrian Pierce a shout out, and answer his question about what he should do with his current XH XR6 Falcon Ute; Barra Swap, swap it out for a BF or FG Falcon ute, or go for a mid-2000's Subaru Liberty Wagon 3.0. Joseph then talks about RAM celebrating their 1,500 vehicle sale in Australia, and starting 24-hour production in Australia too, then we talk about utes on the market, and our mate's NP300 Navara having nothing but issues. We then give another shout-out Matthew Cheney, who asked us what engine he should swap into his first-gen Mazda MX5/Miata. Joseph then talks about BMW announcing their M8 Competition spec, and explains the origin of the 'Competition' range, and why it exists. We then argue with BMW's claim that the M8 Competition is competition to the Porsche 911 Turbo. Joseph then talks about Gordon Murray leaving McLaren, and starting his own car company, GMA, and is building the 'successor' to the McLaren F1 (in spirit), called the T50. We then wind down the show, Joseph's wheels are now in Australia and are on the way to Brisbane, Matt talks about the dual battery system in his LandCruiser being wired incorrectly, and Joseph guesses what James Bond's next car will be in the next film. We're back for episode 101, with a new intro! This week, we start off by talking about hair cuts and fashion, of all things. Mitch then does a quick review on the Holden Astra VX, before transitioning into talking about Ferrari's new $1M-plus Supercar; the SF90 Stradale with 736Kw from a combination of a turbocharged V8 and 3 electric motors. We then briefly talk about Aston Martin and argue about naturally aspirated Vs. turbocharging. Matt then talks about Australian pricing for the Tesla Model 3 being announced, at $66,000. Joseph then talks about how you can pick up an Alfa-Romeo Quadrifoglio as a dealer-demo for $90,000 with only 4,00Km on the clock. Matt talks about the to-be Volkswagen Golf R Plus; an $80,000 300Kw 450Nm AWD pocket-rocket confirmed to be coming to Australia. Joseph talks about the new epic-looking Volvo S60 and V60 with a turbo-supercharged hybrid system developing 311Kw and 600+ Nm. Matt then talks about Jaguar killing off the XJ in July, and they will replace it in 2020 with an 420Kw and 700Nm EV. Joseph then trolls us with a $625,000 Ford Falcon XR6  advertised on CarSales. Then Matt goes on CarSales and asks us what the 5 most expensive cars currently for sale on CarSales. Mitch then talks about how the Lamborghini Urus, like the Kia Stinger, looks so much better in person than it does in photos. Matt then asks us what the bottom 5 cheapest cars are on CarSales. Then Mitch starts asking a question that Matt came up with on the way to the pod that he'd forgotten, until he remembers and asks the question himself. The question is in relation to servicing intervals, and why the intervals are measured on time and distance travelled and not litres of fuel used. This then turns into a bit of a classic Gears and Beers argument between Matt and Joseph. We're back for episode 87 this week, and this we start off by actually introducing ourselves for a change! We then move straight onto a question from a listener, and this week's question comes from a Mr. Michael Jones, and Michael's question is asking us what car he should buy to replace his Holden Commodore SSV Redline. The criteria is that the replacement car needs to be newer than 2010, preferably a wagon, and less than 100,000km's and a max of $70,000. We then answer a second question from a Mr. Taylor, who asked why clutches smell when you burn them. We then talk a fair bit about Mercedes and BMW, and how Mitch found sitting in a 2014 525d rather disappointing, and Matt talks about him finally putting the Forester XT up for sale on CarSales. We then talk about Gosford Classic Car Museum, and how it has officially closed its doors due to the owner and the Australian Taxation Office having a bit of a dispute. Matt then talks about his and Mitch's highly eventful day out at Bribie Island and what happened to his Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser. We then play this weeks' game of "How Bout Dat", and this week we start off my Lamborghini. The Whole Marilyn Monroe

2019-02-1701:06:28

Episode Hachi-Roku, and we spend the first 10 minutes talking absolute rubbish, and Matt doing some weird ASMR stuff... Odd chap. Finally, we start talking about actual topics, starting with Joel leaving his fuel filler cap behind at the servo, and he talks about a little bit of news. The news he brings to the table is Toyota releasing a British Racing Green limited edition GT86 in Japan. Matt then asks us 2 listener questions, from listeners. The first question from Bob is asking why the Ecoboost base Mustang looks "so terrible" compared to the fully-loaded 5.0 Mustang GT. We then have a debate about Australian car buying habits, and Matt and Mitch get annoyed with Joel and Joseph having a second conversation. The second question is about whether or not each of us like car vinyl wraps or not, and we talk about painting cars and parts. Joseph then talks about some news about Subaru's hybrid E-Boxer coming in 2020, while Mitch fetches some more beer. Mitch then talks about General Motors considering leaving Australia, and handing Holden over to Inchcape; a large multinational automotive distribution company. Then we talk a bit about Toyota Celica facts. We then play Mitch's new favourite game, 'How Bout Dat'. We're back for episode 85! And once again, we're joined by the Short One (two weeks in a row!). Joseph takes point this week, and talks about the new Mustang V8 Supercar and why it looks so bloody weird, and not at all like a Mustang. We then talk a bit about V8 Supercars, and motorsport, as a whole. Matt then brings up some news regarding January 2019 being the worst month for car sales since 2012, however MG's sales for January is up 400% on 2018's sales numbers. Then we talk about the new Mazda 3, and autonomous driving tech. We then talk about Ford and Volkswagen getting together to make a smaller truck under the Ford Ranger for emerging markets, specifically South America. Then we talk about platform sharing tactics between car brands. Mitch then talks about Porsche coming forward to say their last 911's fuel efficiency being miscalculated due to using a wrong calculation of drag its co-efficient. Joseph then brings up the new Rav4, and for the most part (except for Matt) we like it, despite it getting larger... Again. We then argue over what Matt means by calling the CH-R "Quirky and fun.", and then Joseph talks about Mountune's new gear and tune for the Focus RS. We then have an argument about luxury cars, specifically Audi and how only the RS need to exist. We then get straight into our favourite and newest game; 'How Bout Dat', where we each name our favourite cars from brands and vote on which car wins. Find us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and at www.gearsandbeersmedia.com / www.unashamedlyunprofessional.com / contact@gearsandbeersmedia.com Gears and Beers is hosted by Mitchell Denham, Joseph Riga, Matt Morwood, and Joel McD.
We start off this with giving Joseph shit for saying a shit beer was a good beer. Then Matt talks about what he's done to his LandCruiser 105 this week, and we talk about the wheels Joseph has ordered for his 86. We then briefly talk about Project Cars 2 and Pikes Peak, before transitioning onto a bit of news about the Suzuki Jimny and it's 3 Star ANCAP rating. Then we talk a bit about the TAG Heuer Aston Martin DBS. Then we talk about Hyundai i30N forums up in arms over Hyundai dropping the 'SR' plate in favour of calling it the 'N-Line' badge. We then shout out Clint "Chemist" Meyer who sent through an audio message while we were on break, so, Joseph has a question for him about racing oils. Then we talk about the first Toyota Supra Mk5 being sold at charity auction for over $2million USD, and an auction oddity of a Mk4 Toyota Supra up for sale at $500,000 USD. We're making progress, and it's very close to being done! We then talk about Rent-A-Crowd's progress with his Nissan Z32. Joseph then talks about the military-spec Mercedes G-Wagen, the 'G Professional', a vehicle designed for government use. SUPRA! SUPRA! SUPRA! This is our first podcast episode of 2019 that we actually recorded in 2019, and there’s a bit of news this week, and it’s GOOD news ladies and gentlemen! The new Toyota Supra has been OFFICIALLY launched at the Detroit Auto Show. We bang on about the new Supra, and the BMW Z4, for a fair bit this episode, and it was a lot of fun (there may have been multiple Great Northern’s had #SponsorUsToo). We then move onto a few other cars, the Subaru WRX STI S209 (US only), Cadillac’s new electric SUV (again, US only), autonomous cars at CES 2019, the Ford GT500 being imported into Australia by Mustang Motorsports, and then we argue about ADR laws. Then Joseph talks about the woes of his AP Racing Big Brake Kit’s wheel fitment with his RPF1’s. We're back with episode 78, once again joined by Ben of the Pencil's Ballercast podcast, the Christmas Eve episode. We start off thanking everyone for listening to our bollocks before starting off with the news. Ben starts off the discussions with talking about a Subaru concept before we let him know our thoughts on concept cars (we don't like them). Then he goes through Motoring.com.au's top 5 most popular reviews on their website, and we talk about the cars listed, with our usual tangents. Mitch then talks about Hyundai introducing fingerprint recognition in their vehicles. Joseph then talks about Carwow's Mat Watson's comparison between the Lexus LFA and the LC 500. Matt then talks about the Camaro coming to Australia is the 16/17 model, and not the 19, and its comparison to the current Ford Mustang. Mitch then talks about the Gold Coast City Council cracking down on people keeping unregistered and 'eyesore' vehicles in the front yard on their private property. Then Matt challenges the panel that Volkswagen Automotive Group is the greatest manufacturer. Then Ben talks about Toyota potentially bringing back the MR2 in partnership with Subaru, then going back on the previous topic, we think that it could be a WW2 Axis/Allies thing when it comes to quality of cars. We then end on Matt talking about his new-to-him offroad trailer, which will get a good workout for our New Years break.

We're back with episode 77, and a man down; Mitch isn't on this week because he scored a ticket to go see Jim Jefferies. However, Mr Ben Sewell of Pencil's Ballercast makes a return this week in place of Mitchell. This week, the boys start off by talking about absolute nonsense, before starting off with Matt talking about what he's done to his 105 Series this week, and getting it scratched last weekend. Then, just to mix things up, Ben talks about beer! He talks about Newstead Brewing Co.'s new beer 'Ale-y Oop'. Joseph then talks about a bit of news. He talks about the new Jeep Wrangler's 1 Star Euro-NCAP score. This then develops into a discussion about how relevant the 1 Star is to Jeep buyers. Somehow, Ben has Hyundai car news... Which is weird. Then Matt talks about Hyundai committing to hydrogen cars, Skoda dropping the price on the base Fabia, and Mazda coming out with an orange limited edition MX-5 starting at $38k, and Ford not selling as much of the 2018/19 Mustang as they'd hope. Then Joseph talks about Toyota once again teasing the GR Supra racecar, then he and Matt educate Ben on the Supra. Then Matt asks Ben to look up the Toyota Soarer and the Nissan Z32, then asks his opinion as to which is cooler. The boys then take a listener question from Ben's dad asking what's the deal with Joseph and Mitch's fascination with the Hyundai Excel Twin-Cam (X3). The boys then talk about the new Civic, and whether or not it'll age well. Matt then brings back a favourite segment, 'What About This Car' on the Chrysler Crossfire. www.gearsandbeersmedia.com www.facebook.com/gearsandbeersmedia

Then Joel talks about his recent run of bad luck recently, specifically his receiving a parking ticket and a bad experience at a wrecker. We then talk about Sophia Floersh's crash in a spectacular Formula 3 crash in Macau.  Then Joseph asks the panel what the last mod was done to our cars, which was just an excuse for him to talk about his new front rotors, which gets us on to talking about the brakes industry. We then play the 'Nameless Game', this time it's V10's, and for this week's episode, we make it open to any car under 100,000km's. We're back for episode 73! This week starts off the rails immediately, with our return special guest Ben asking us what our favourite car-themed movies are, which insights some lively discussion about car movies. After 11 minutes, we finally move onto some news. We start off with a bit of news about Volkswagen's passenger vehicles no longer having manuals, including their performance range. We then talk about HSV's second go at the Colorado; the HSV Sportscat R. The Sportscat R features some red decals, pumped guards and hood, but no performance improvements. Then we talk about the Ford Ranger Raptor's television commercial being pulled from television due to it depicting super-fast acceleration inside a shed. We then talk about Jeep's Gladiator ute, a car that Mitch and Ben think is ugly, but Matt and Joseph like... Then we ask whether 1 chicken wing is equal to 3 (4) chips. Mitch then brings up how Mitsubishi has no immediate plans for a new Pajero to replace the current 20+-year-old model (with facelifts). Then we talk about Toyota Australia bucking the trend from Toyota Japan/Global in not wanting a full range of plug-in hybrid's as most Australian consumers aren't interested in them. We then talk about the update to the Mitsubishi Triton, which is rumoured to become the basis for the future of the Renault-Mitsubishi-Nissan Alliance ute platform, which would presumably include the Mercedes ute, too. And while Mitch, Joseph, and special guest Ben look for the best V8 cars; 4 cars each, for 4 separate categories: Track Car, Drag Car, Best Value, and All The Money In The World. Find us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram by searching 'Gears and Beers Media' www.gearsandbeersmedia.com
This week, we start off by talking about ourselves. Then we outline what we plan to talk about this week, and our Rent-A-Crowd Joel talks about his new car... A Nissan Z32. We then argue, again, over what's better; Mk4 Supra or a Soarer, which then gets us talking about popular automotive YouTubers. We then discuss a topic raised by one of our listeners Seth, asking us what our thoughts are on the 400Z concept. We then continue to Nissan discussion by talking about Nissan's Clubsport 23 370Z at SEMA 2018... And once again we somehow get onto talking about dual cab utes. We then move on to talk about the McLaren Speedtail, an incredible machine that boggles the mind with the numbers it produces. We then get talking about rich people and their car collections. We then congratulate Matt on getting engaged... Finally. Then we talk about one of our mates getting his third Nissan Patrol... Before selling the other 2. We then segway onto talking about the paint on Joel's new Z32, and our opinions on colour-shift (pearlescent) paint. We then play the 3 cylinder version of the game we played last week, in which we need to find 4 different 3 cylinders cars; Track car, drag car, all the money in the world, best value for money. While Joseph and Mitch find their cars, Matt and Joel talk about the work Joel's done to his Z32. Don't forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and you can find us on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, TuneIn, and damn-near every other podcast platform! www.gearsandbeersmedia.com
First off this week, we give a few shout-outs to a couple people. Emerson of Pakin Imagery, and Seth who recommended us on Facebook. Cheers lads! Then we answer a question, that contains 4 sub-questions. 1) Best 4 cylinder track car? 2) Best 4 cylinder drag car? 3) Best 4 cylinder for value for money 4) If you had all the money in the world, what 4 cylinder car would you buy? We then gracefully transition on to the News, and this week Joseph kicks off the news with Holden halting production on the new Commodore and Equinox due to lacklustre sales and an excess supply. We then talk about Holden being "given the keys" to GM's entire range for import to Australia. Next, Matt and Mitch talk about a couple of exquisite cars they saw on the road the other day, then we transition onto talking about what Matt has done to his 105 Series. After Matt's MacBook deciding to do a system update mid-pod, we pick up and move onto playing a game of 'Show Me What You Got', before ending off the episode. www.gearsandbeersmedia.com
We're back from World Time Attack Challenge 2018! We start off this week with the usual rubbish, then we get into talking about our WTAC weekend. We talk about our arduous journey to the track, fighting our way through the marsh flies, our disinterest in the Show N Shine, and our love of the drift car garages. We then go on to talk more about the actual time attack cars, and the evening drifts. We cannot wait for WTAC 2019! Then Joseph talks about the extra-wet track day that he went to instead of coming down to World Time Attack Challenge (#DoggedTheBoys). We then talk about food, before getting back on topic about what our favourite cars were at the event. Then we talk a bit of news. Ford Mustang gets more expensive but makes 9kw less, but 9Nm more torque. Then we talk about the Mitsuoka Rock Star, a Mazda ND MX5 customised to look like a C2 Corvette. Mitsuoka is known for their previous work with the Nissan S13, making it look like Cruella DeVille's car. We then talk about Alpine targeting Alfa Romeo, saying Alfa Romeo doesn't have racing heritage. And we end with Matt asking us what imported Chevrolet we'd have if given the choice. Don't forget to like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram! www.gearsandbeersmedia.com
Part two of our pre-WTAC recording session. When you're listening to this, we'll be somewhere between Sydney and Brisbane heading back from World Time Attack Challenge. We kick off this episode by talking, again, about the Cartastrophy365 podcast shoutout, then tangent onto talking about British television shows. Then, to mix things up, we actually talk about beer, albeit briefly. We then talk about why Ben joined us this week, and argue about soft-roaders. This one story took most of the episode, because tangents. We then talk about Mitch's car history and obsession for the new Suzuki Jimny. Then we talk about Matt's obsession with EcoBoost Mustang. We then talk about WTAC. We're driving down this year, and leaving Brisbane at the butt-crack of dawn (4am), and tangent about food and and a steakhouse without beer! Next episode will be all about World Time Attack Challenge, so look forward to that one. I'm sure we'll have much to talk about!
